I know the results of a couple - Adrian Peterson = , Calvin Johnson put up some decent stats.

How about the rest. I'm not just asking from a fantasy perspective, but an NFL perspective as well.

You know, guys like Joe Thomas, Adam Carriker, Jon Beason, etc.

Let's have it!

The Vikings had five rookies see playing time:

Adrian Peterson - Queue up the "da-da-da...da-da-da THIS is SportsCenter" music.

Sidney Rice - Don't expect big numbers, but he looks like he has all the makings of a legit NFL receiver. He's not a burner, but reminds me a lot of Chris Carter with his body control and positioning.

Brian Robison - 2 sacks in his NFL debut. He's very quick and when they brought him in with his fresh legs in the 2nd half, he looked like he'll be pretty good in spot situations this year.

Marcus McCauley - Didn't see him involved much, though I know he was on the field. Guess it's a good thing when your nickle back isn't mentioned.

Aundrae Allison - Involved in kick returns but nothing else.

All in all, a good day for the Vikings rookies.

James Jones - Seemed to do ok. Jury is still out. I didn't notice any drops, but he didn't get many targets downfield. Favre was definitely not on his A game as far as long passing anyway.

Brandon Jackson - Meh, I sure hope Morency will get looks as soon as he's healthy. Jackson needs a lot of work in all areas.

Mason Crosby - A+++++++

DeShawn Wynn - Had that one crazy reception from Farve where he showed some shake-n-bake with the rock. Of course, he was just standing there right next to Favre as he was getting mauled by two defenders, which can't be good.

Corey Hall - Didn't notice anything special from the FB

Colts rookies:

Anthony Gonzalez - Pretty much a non-factor - had one target that I recall all game.

Tony Ugoh - He's going to be hotly debated all season, but did OK for a debut.

Dante Hughes - Played the nickel corner - did a nice job - had at least one deflected pass.

Quinn Pitcock - Inactive - he's the 6th DT in the rotation right now - and they only put 4 DTs active on Thursday.

Roy Hall, Melvin Bullitt, Ramon Guzman - Played special teams, and special teams wasn't awful, which is an improvement.

Kenyata Dawson - Was the DT in pass-rushing situations. Was pretty active when he played.

Ed Johnson - Had a nice debut as the starting DT - he's the 2nd best DT on the roster right now behind Raheem Brock. A great UDFA pickup.

I thought Ugoh looked really good for a rookie LT and I don't normally notice offensive linemen at all. Going against Will Smith is a tall order for any LT in the league, much less a rookie.

1. Reggie Nelson played pretty well. He was out of position a few times but has great range and looks to be a decent blitzer.

2. Justin Durant could not beat out Pat Thomas for the back up OLB job so missed a chance to start with Ingrim hurt.

3 Mike Walker is on IR from a college injury.

4a Adam Podlesh Looks nothing like a 4th round punter at this point.

4b Brian Smith is on IR from a college injury.

5a Uche Nwaneri is on roster but not playing meaningful time.

5b Derek Landri looked great in preseason against the 3rd stringers.

7a John Broussard had an amazing catch for a TD. He might be the stretch the field guy the Jags have been looking for since Jimmy Left.

7b Chad Nkang solid special team player.

Calvin was as good as advertised. He did not look like a rookie on the field. I really don't see any way he finishes with less than 1000 yards.

As usual, the other Lion rookies overall had minimal impact.

As great as CJ's going to be, I still wonder if they wouldn't have been better of taking Patrick Willis to help out that defense.

Adrian Peterson came back down to earth as the Lions put what looked like 12 in the box all day long.

McCauley gave up yards and catches, but didn't get burned deep. In other words, he did his job.

Rice & Robison were nowhere to be found.

I only got to watch the Packer game on a 16" TV from 30 feet away for most of the game.

J Jones is still doing pretty well with Favre.

B Jackson should be on the practice squad.

D Wynn needs more opportunities

M Crosby missed his only FG attempt

Patrick Willis - I don't think I saw a tackle within 10 yards of the LOS without him in on it. I saw Steven Jackson drag him a couple yards one time last game when Willis had him in a solo tackle on the outside, but that was about the only flaw I saw. And even then, Steven Jackson was NOT breaking that tackle.

Guy is the Ray Lewis of his class. He's making the other players around him better. Most notably, Manny Lawson. Lawson has always been a quick and lanky guy at OLB. I consider him like a mini-Julian Peterson that has never been able to hold up at the point of attack. But havnig Willis there frees him up to take chances and make plays. Lawson has been bringing a pass rush on blitzes that our defensive line is just not capable of. Derek Smith no longer looks slow as well.

For the first time in I don't know how long, we are talented and flexible enough to play the pass and the rush with 7 men in the box. All thanks to Willis.

Edited to add - Joe Staley. I haven't had a close eye on Staley, but that is a very good thing. I know that just because I don't really notice him that he is doing a good job. It was painfully obvious the past few seasons that Kwame Harris is a bust. That guy is so bad it pisses me off. How can you be that large and athletic and be such a pathetic piece of trash. You suck Kwame.

I'd say neither B Jackson nor D Wynn looked particularly good... until Wynn broke off his TD. There was simply no room to run. I did see Jackson make a couple of very nice blitz pickups... this is the sort of thing that will keep him on the field, regardless of his fantasy numbers.

Are the Packers 'your team?'

For the Steelers Matt Spaeth has scored a TD in both of his NFL games and Lamar Woodley recorded his first sack yesterday.

Miami - Ted Ginn Jr. - WR

Houston - Amobi Okoye - DT

Buffalo - Marshawn Lynch - RB

Kind of hard to believe, but the Ravens had rookies manning the right side of their offensive line for much of the game yesterday, and doing a very adequate job.

With Ogden out, projected RT Adam Terry has been starting at LT. That means third-rounder Marshall Yanda, a guy who was viewed as maybe more of an NFL Guard coming out of Iowa, has been playing RT and holding up. And first-rounder Ben Grubbs, who had been alternating in for a series or two per half at Right Guard, got extended time there when Center Mike Flynn dislocated a finger, moving starting RG Chris Chester to Center.

After picking Ogden with the franchise's first draft pick ever, Ozzie pretty much ignored the O line for a decade. Now, it's really exciting to see the makings of what is going to be an outstanding O line in the near future, even when Ogden retires after this year.

Also, third-rounder Yamon Figurs won the game with his 75-yard punt return for a TD.

Fourth-round pick FB Le'Ron McClain is the starter and got his most extended action as the Ravens employed a 2-RB set more than in the previous two games. He basically turned in the kind of performance that his predecessor Ovie Mughelli turned in for the past 4 years, but for about $8 million less than what Atlanta is paying Mughelli.

I used to worry what the Ravens would look like once Ogden, Ray Lewis, and even Todd Heap retired. Now, with this year's rookies, plus recent additions like Ngata, Clayton, Demetrius Williams, the O Line, and young vets like Reed and Suggs, I'm less worried.

Figurs may have had a "key" play, but wasn't it Stovers FG that won the game?

On the season...

Lamaar Woodley LB-DE is making a serious pass rushing impact.

Lawrence Timmons LB is still playing catchup after missing time with his groin, but adds serious skill to the special teams.

Matt Spaeth TE missed this weekend but is proving a match up nightmare in the Steeler pass offense.

Dan Speluveda P is a super sweet punter. Given up zero return yards in 3 games. 6of9 inside 20. 4 inside 10. He is on the HANDS unit for KOR-ST!

Ryan McBean

Cameron Stephenson

William Gay has made his presence known all along. He is around the ball whenever on field. ST with a dab of playing time for now.

Dallas Baker

Amobi Okoye story.

Awesome to hear that not all football players (especially the young ones) are punks. This guy could play for a very long time.

I'm starting to become a big fan of the Texans. The AFC South is fast becoming the toughest division in football.

Adrian Peterson's new nickname is "Half Day."

Sidney Rice is ready for prime time.

Marcus McCauley is not (got burned for both TDs)

Brian Robison showed flashes.

Browns homers - how is Joe Thomas working out? Is he a big reason the offense is producing?

Colts rookies making an impact:

1. Tony Ugoh. I know some here are nitpicking at his play, but the facts are: 3 sacks allowed by the team in 5 games, they scored 33 points on what was the best scoring defense in the league last week (with three offensive starters out, including two studs), and so far this best rushing offense the Colts have had in years. For a rookie playing a very difficult position under a huge spotlight, he's doing just fine.

2. Ed Johnson (DT) - he's been an impact player for the Colts - no question about it. The fact that the Colts had held two opponents this year under 50 yards rushing this season when they held no opponents under 100 yards rushing last year means that the D is better than last year - and he's a reason why. In the 4th quarter of the Denver game, I saw him chase down a receiver 25 yards away from him to make the tackle. If there is a more valuable rookie free agent player this season than Johnson, I'd like to see him. I somehow doubt it.

3. Anthony Gonzalez - after last week, I can finally put him in as an impact player. Not a bad first start at all.

That's what I was wondering too. And, "Half Day". Damn that's funny.

And sad for us Peterson owners.

Terry, who's been starting at LT with Ogden still out, and C Flynn both left this week's game in the 2nd quarter. As a result, the Ravens had rookie Yanda at RT, rookie Grubbs at RG, and rookie Jared Gaither - a guy they picked up in the 5th round of the supplemental draft - at LT. They all did a very solid job, although the Ravens basically shut down the offense and turned the game over to the defense to win.Pretty amazing to see an O Line with three rookies, a second year guy and a third year guy.

Craig "Buster" Davis - been underwelming thus far, as is the whole chargers passing attack sans Gates. Does have 1 score

Eric Weddle - Had played very well and should be starting IMO

Weddle was Chaos Commishes guy in the run up to the draft. Good to see he's doing well.Since they stink as a team, I wonder if Adam Carriker in St. Louis is getting missed. Has he played much?

Without question JT is one of the big reasons for the Browns offensive turnaround. Its not only Thomas by himself, the pairing of JT and Eric Stienbach on the left side has opened up the running game due to thier athleticism which laps what we've had since the return. Then Thomas can handle pass rushers on his own which frees up double team and chipping. The ability of the OLT to handle a pass rush on his own then allows an athletic TE like KWII to go out on deeper routes which greatly helps in breaking up cover two zones since Winslow has the speed to mismatch any LB and the athleticism/strength to outmuscle most DBs so he gets to the seem in the zone and has great hands. Back to the running game. The bulk majority of Jamal Lewis' runs in Baltimore were over Ogden's side where he had a full yard more per carry rush. Its no wonder that Jam's long run against the Bengals was over the left side. The pairing of JT and Stienbach mean the Browns can run sweeps with those atheletes on the line because they can really kickout and nail DBs on the edge and also they are great getting to the second level and finishing off people. So yeah, JT is working out really well. The shocker is that he looks like grizzled veteran but the scarey thing is he's not and will only get better. I think he can even add a few pounds of muscle to his frame and not loose speed so he should improve his straight line run blocking in the future. He's the real deal from what I've seen.

Excellent writeup Bracie. As always.Sounds like they made the right decision.

Adrian Peterson may supplant Bo Jackson as my all-time favorite player.

Sidney Rice had one supberb catch. He's going to be great. Get him now in your dynasty leagues.

McCauley dropped a sure interception to ice the game. Couldn't tell if it was tipped.

All other rookies were non-existent.

James Jones disappeared yesterday. He incurred the wrath of McCarthy with the fumble vs. the Bears two weeks ago. Damn Irish have hot tempers and long memories!

IIRC, Jones did have a TD catch nullified by a phantom holding call, didn't he? And the passing game for the Pack was pretty miserable yesterday altogether. So I wouldn't say he necessarily disappeared from the gameplan as much as, by chance, from the boxscore?

Bears rookies have been fantastic :goodposting:

Greg Olsen - started off the season hurt ... has made some very nice plays the last couple weeks

Dan Bazuin - INJURED RESERVE

Garrett Wolfe - been in on a few plays ... always seems to get stuffed at the line or rex grossman throws an interception on his screen pass

Michael Okwo - INJURED RESERVE

Josh Beekman - ?fill in the blank?

Corey Graham - ?fill in the blank?

Trumaine McBride - ?fill in the blank?

Kevin Payne - INJURED RESERVE

Dusty Dvoracek - INJURED RESERVE - counted him because he spent last year (his rookie year) on injured reserve

Ouch. But Beekman wasn't going to beat out anyone this year for meaningful time anyway, was he?
