Official Santonio Holmes Thread (1 Viewer)

how can he be a gtd and not be on the injury rpt?
It's my understanding that the NFL injury report is based solely on participation in practice. Because the Steelers seem to have an internal rule that if a player doesn't practice on Friday, he doesn't play, Holmes did practice on Friday. From the other Holmes thread (which isn't worth reading - it went in the toilet fast):PITTSBURGH (AP) -- ...........

The Steelers almost never allow players to play in a game when they are physically unable to practice on Friday -- one reason why wide receiver Santonio Holmes struggled through the team's workout on a sprained right ankle.

Holmes, also out for two games, continues to have pain in the ankle and was urged earlier this week to sit out another game. Holmes said the game against New England (12-0) is too important to the Steelers (9-3) to miss and he plans to play."

So the way I read that is becasue he practiced fully on Friday, he cannot be listed on the NFL injury report at all. But he clearly struggled to get through practice, and remains a GTD. To me this is just another example of how the current NFL injury reporting policy misses the mark. I hope that answers the question.

any update?
bump. I need to decide Holmes vs Stallworth. Im leaning Stallworth because of Holmes' ankle and tough Pats D. On the other hand.. so many Pat targets take points away --- Moss, Watson, Welker, Maroney, et al. Waffling and need guidance.

Pats Pass D sucks.
Last I checked they are undefeated, and perhaps the greatest team in NFL history. Notwithstanding, they only passes they allow are underneath middle stuff. Not exactly Holmes forte.
