Official Shaun Alexander Thread (1 Viewer)

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports that Seahawks RB Shaun Alexander will not play Week 11 against the Bears. "I told Shaun, until he can practice the whole week, then I'm not going to put him in the field," head coach Mike Holmgren said. Alexander did not practice this week and only received a few reps leading up to Week 10. He was inactive for the game against the 49ers. Maurice Morris will once again start in his place.

No practice, no play for Alexander

KIRKLAND -- The Seattle Seahawks plan to rest several starters at practice this week -- most notably quarterback Matt Hasselbeck -- but expect to have them available for Sunday's game at St. Louis.

The one exception is running back Shaun Alexander, whom coach Mike Holmgren continues to tell that he has to practice to play.

Holmgren said Monday that he does not expect Alexander to practice Wednesday, but he later relented and said he has not ruled him out of Sunday's game.

"I don't think he's going to practice Wednesday, but let's wait and see," Holmgren said.

Sorry to bump a gameday thread but the others were speculation or debate so I figured this one would work best for an update. I have noticed in the tone from recent Holmgren quotes that he almost seems to be looking for an excuse to keep Shaun off the field. I am buying into Holmgren's "shared backfield" comments for if/when Shaun comes back; he had to be pressed to even admit there is a chance that Shaun practices this week. This, in conjunction with him making such a big deal about "no practice, no play", seems fishy to me.

Lets keep this one going this week. Trying to decide between MoMo and Grant for this weekend.

Plus, I am a big Seahawk fan, and believe MoMo fits this 'past-first' offense better than S.A.

You'll need to make a decision soon. Doesn't Grant play tomorrow and Morris on Sunday? I've heard that if SA does not practice today, then he is likely Out on Sunday. I will try to find a link to that article. My gut says that Morris will get the start again on Sunday vs StL. If so, Morris should be a solid option as he is a good part of the pass offense and the run offense.

Right now I am rolling with MoMo over K. Jones.

If I hear more I can switch someone else in for MoMo, but will obviously lose Jones for the week.

That's my plan as well. GB's defense is playing very well and I don't trust KJ getting the carries/looks in the offense right now. The last two weeks have been pretty bad. I think Morris has the better matchup with StL, and I believe he'll get the start this week.

What makes you think he gets the start this week? Is there news about Alexander that I am not aware of, or just a hunch?

This is what I have read that is leading me to believe SA will be out. He will need to practice today, but I have read reports/articles that he may not practice today. If not, then I have to assume MoMo gets his third start.
'RotoWire]Nov 20 Morris likely will make his third consecutive start for Shaun Alexander on Sunday against the Rams as Alexander is not expected to practice until at least late in the week said:
That suggest another go with Morris, who is a better receiver and blocker in Seattle's reformed pass-first offense anyway. Don't get carried away with Morris, though. He's not a game-breaker and needs to score to have real fantasy value. Absent touchdowns, expect about 80 yards rushing and 15-20 yards receiving.

Many thanks. I had not seen this and this is exactly what I was looking for.
