A) At this point you seem to be rooting for Wallace to leave to prove yourself right and B) I honestly can't see anyone giving him beyond a reasonable contract AND the first. Just doesn't make sense in the NFL's economy.

I don't know that he's "rooting for Wallace to leave to prove himself correct", but in all honesty he's probably right in general terms. With the contracts being thrown around the past two days to equal/lesser WRs....I don't see any way Wallace will put his name on any kind of long-term deal that isn't paying him similarly.
A scenario where Wallace winds up playing out '12 under the tender and flying the coop next year as a UFA has always been a very likely outcome to this situation. I think it has become even more likely after the contracts given to the likes of Garcon, Jackson, etc. etc. the past few days. The question at that point will be "Do the Steelers franchise him if that happens?"
At any rate, I'm not worrying about it. It does appear that the likelihood of him being a Steeler at least for '12 has increased(although I don't think the Moss signing in SF means as much as some do. It's such a small contract that he can be easily cut if he doesn't perform well in TC/they're able to land a guy like Mike). After that....who knows.

Fiammetta did a splendid job. Would be almost as interested as Vickers if his health/status is okay.
After he missed 3+ weeks with an inner ear infection, he was not quite the same player in the final couple games for Dallas.

According to Gery Dulac the Steelers were approximately $1.5 million under the salary cap after tendering offers to Wallace and the other five restricted free agents that totaled just over $9 million.If that is accurate then the Steelers are around $4.5 million under the cap.

Can a Steelers fan help out someone totally out of the Steelers loop? What are the offseason plans regarding the RB position? Here's what I know, and the conclusion that I've made, please correct anything wrong....
1. Mendy tore his ACL, rehab may last into the regular season.
2. Redman fill in well, though only in a few games.
3. They have other RB options currently on the roster (5 already for 2012, correct), each for very low $ - Clay, Dwyer, now Chad Spann.
4. Speaking of $, they don't have a lot of it to spend on a FA.
5. Moore is likely gone, wasn't a huge part anyway.
6. 1st and 2nd round pick will in all likelihood be on OL and DL.
With all that in mind, do they even use a single draft pick on the position, or roll with what they have?

probably roll with what they have unless they see good value in the draft. they could pick up a free agent. also to add to your list is barron batch who was looking good last summer until he got hurt.

How am I "rooting for Wallace (to leave)" and how would that have anything to do with proving myself right? As for your B, I agree with you but Im prioritizing long term more than 2012. It would be great to have Wallace next year for 2.7M, but I dont think we can afford Wallace for 5yrs/50+. After the recent signings, I would be alright with 5/40 (although I think he'll command much more), but going much more than that doesnt enthuse me. What Im rooting for is getting a 1st round pick for Wallace instead of letting him walk next year and getting nothing.

UPDATED 3/15/2012 The latest update includes the pay cut restructure of Casey Hampton and I currently have the Steelers rule of 51 number at $114,577,182.00 and that of course includes all of the restricted tenders. The Steelers personal cap number figures to be around $122,706,000.00 and that includes the $506,000 carry over from 2011 and the $1.6 million in extra cap space dolled out due the Redskins and Cowboys uncapped year punishment. That makes the Steelers ABOUT $8,128,818.00 at most under the cap.

I don't agree. I would much rather they try to sign him at $50+ given the cap is going to significantly raise over the course of his contract and any hits and older vets contracts wash out. If Colston et. all is worth 50+ so is Wallace with Ben throwing to him. Even with all the old guard getting turned over I really feel this team is a cohesive OLine away from another ring.(Wouldn't mind seeing another high quality CB added too).

The cap will go up, but how much is a question. As the vets fade away, the Pounceys, Mendenhalls, Gilberts, Hoods, etc arent on rookie deals and need re-signed.This would go hand in hand with how much the cap increases, but if we do sign Wallace to a big deal, I think Brown has a much higher chance of being gone in the next year or two. That said, who knows what kind of contract Brown will get at that point, but I think it would be much less than Wallace and overall it may be better to retain Brown at half the price of Wallace. I see a franchise that let Plex and Santonio walk and didnt miss a beat really. I think they can do the same with Wallace if they cant afford him, and its not like they dont have young fallback options at WR either.

Avast probably did a good job. Download locations for MBAM and HJT. Download, install, update and run MBAM. It will clean up anything it finds. You can run HJT and save a log file if you want someone to look at it. Ok you have Avast cool.DO this for now. Open Avast. I'm at work so I'm not looking at it at the moment. Somewhere in avast you can schedule a boot time scan. IT should be where you did scan now. Select boot time scan and then it will ask you to reboot - select YES. The computer will reboot but before any executables load Avast will scan your system looking for viruses.can you tell me how to do this as if I have no idea what a computer is?Also, whats a boot time scan? whats malwarebytes? It's $1.26 million this year(at least that is what is being reported for the tender for Lewis, anyway).
What happens is sometimes if windows is already running these viruses start and can't be removed during that process so they need to be killed before windows starts.
Once that is finished and windows boots up you can then run other programs.
After Avast is done see if you can then
Download a program called malwarebytes - http://www.malwarebytes.org/
Make sure it is up to date and then run a scan with that.
If after running those 2 steps and still have problems you will start have to do what 3c's said.
I will say 95% of the time Avast boot scan fixes the issue, every once in a while if I hit some sketchy sites I need to update my registry manually.
ETA: A boot time scan is a scan that searches for viruses as your computer is booting (starting up). As opposed to a "scan now" where windows and your machine is currently already running

I don't think any RFA of consequence has been pursued seriously yet. I think teams are just waiting to descend. Give teams the least amount of time possible before the draft to match, and thereby maybe eliminate a few teams from the race since they'd have potentially already burnt a bunch of their cap dollars.Hope Schefter's right, but I think it's too early to determine.

Very surprised to hear this but love it if its true. It looks like Tolbert is arguably the biggest value at RB this year, and he'd be a great fit for our O and is only 26 I think. His receiving skills combined with Haley would be a mindblowing experience for yinzers.

Hillis is the only RB to sign so far, and at $3M per...Hard to say if teams value him more or less than that, but only 1 RB has signed thus far. I think we could land Tolbert on the cheap (for all purposes), but that begs the question why doesnt SD want to bring him back considering Mathews has been nicked up frequently?
Makes no sense to me at all. I don't see him as any significant upgrade over Redman and he isn't as good as Mendenhall once he is healthy. Anything over the minimum would be a waste of cap space. There are so many holes on this team that need that cap money.

He plays FB, as well as HB. He plays very well on special teams. He is very good as a receiver out of the back field.Mendenhall has an ACL tear and only 1-year remaining on his contract. I don't think they want to spend the money extending him.So you have Batch & Rashard coming back from serious injuries. Though Batch should be on pace, but has zero NFL experience.Id love to see him dropping his 5'9" 245# shoulder into some oncoming traffic.

How do you figure Thrill?I've got the Steelers about 8 mil under the cap even with the league credit from the Cowboys/Redskins cap penalty.Rookie class will cost us 5 mil or so...seems like any signing eats into available funds to sign Wallace. What am I missing?
