***OFFICIAL*** Steelers 2012 Thread (3 Viewers)

A guy I wouldn't mind here is the CB from La-Lafayette - Dwight Bentley. A bit of a risk/reward guy, but has starter potential. I'd also be OK with Boykin or Josh Robinson out of UCF (a guy I've seen quite a bit of) if they're swinging for the fences. He doesn't seem to play up to his talent all the time, though, which is what makes me nervous. He's got more size and speed than Burnett, but Burnett seemed to make more plays.

How about the Clemson DT?
Thompson? He's a 5-tech in a 3-4, I don't see it.I wouldn't cry if they took LaMichael James. as Mick would have put it - he has "greazy fast speed." I don't think they'd take him over Miller (or take him at all), but he'd be an interesting change of pace with Redman.

DEFENSE

NT Alameda Ta'amu

ILB Lavonte David* - As a Nebraska homer, love the player, but I don't see as a fit for PIT's 3-4

DT Devon Still - agree with others, more of a 4-3 DT

ILB Mychal Kendricks

ILB Zach Brown

DT Jerel Worthy* - agree with others, more of a 4-3 DT

DT Akiem Hicks (3rd)

OFFENSE

OG Keleche Osemele

RB Lamar Miller

OT Bobbie Massie

OG Amini Silatolu

OG/OT Cordy Glenn*

OT Jonathon Martin*

RB Isaiah Pead

TE Coby Fleener*

WR Stephen Hill*

4 picks to go & 4 good choices left on my short list (would have loved Zach Brown!)

better suited as a 3-4 de or 4-3 t but he's a hole plugger/gap filler and I think he would be a good NT.Guess Ta'amu is a possibility.

Honestly hoping for an OTMassie or Osemele
Or Mike Adams!PRofile from Drew Boylhart at the HuddleReport.com
STRENGTHSMike is an extremely athletic and big offensive tackle. He is a very powerful run blocker, has quick feet and moves very smoothly into his man to make his block. Mike is a smart kid and understands how to work with his left Guard in pass blocking and when run blocking. He knows exactly what he is doing at all times on the field. He has the athleticism and foot speed to be used for screen plays and glides to the second level with a sense of urgency I do not see in most left tackles at the college level. He moves effortlessly and really loves to block for the run. His pass blocking is solid and will get better at the NFL level if Mike respects his coaches more than he does right now. Mike has leadership qualities and a nasty streak in him that makes him the type of player you love to have as a teammate, but hate if he is your opponent. The truth is Mike could be considered as the second best left tackle in this draft if problems off the field had not become an issue for him on the field. CONCERNSMike needs to work on his pass blocking techniques. He gets beat to the inside, which is surprising because of his size and natural powerful strength . He does a good job off the snap, but struggles with second moves by defenders because he is off balance at times and plays to high. All he has to do is start to concentrate more and listen to his coaches and Mike will become one of the best left tackles in the NFL in all areas. This kid has the talent, intelligence and mental stamina to be one of the best. He is a bit of a trash talker on the field, which may turn some teams off also. Teams are going to have to interview this kid and see if he has matured to the extent they trust him enough to give him big time money! That's the key: trust! BOTTOM LINEMike has top ten Left Tackle talent, but because of his off field issues, he has negatively impacted his draft position and status. I can easily see him being drafted in the first round after his workouts, the Senior Bowl and the Combine. I'm not sure that would be a bad thing. The draft is about taking calculated risks. I think with a strong team around Mike and a strong veteran presence in the locker room, Mike could get through the first few years of being handed millions of dollars and still realize that means he now has to work harder to prove he is worthy of the money. I can see playoff teams with offensive lineman needs, like the Packers, Giants and 49er's all looking to upgrade the tackle position and drafting Mike. I know I would look hard at drafting him at that point. You don't get many chances to draft potential Pro Bowl left tackles as a playoff team; therefore, it's hard to pass them up if they are going to fall to you. Mike's off field issues are a concern, but let's face it -- are they any more of a concern than some of the others in this draft? The selling of memorabilia and the tattoo issue? I'll be honest -- this does not really concern me but there are other issues that do. I think Mike is smart enough to know what is expected of him from now on, but it will be all up to him. Adams just doesn't strike me as a Steelers type of player. Motor runs hot & cold, tested positive for weed 3 times, questionable instincts, little to no mean streak, questionable commitment to the game.

He does have the upside to be one of the two best OTs in the entire draft, so I guess they're swinging for the fences.

Adams-Legursky-Pouncey-DeCastro-Gilbert has the potential to be a phenomenal line if Adams' head is in it and he realizes his potential, though. That's a line with a chance to send 3-4 guys to the Pro Bowl if everything breaks right. All we can do now is hope like hell.

This.Much rather the Steelers took Massey. Adams is Santonio Holmes in a fat body.

Only reason I prefer Adams is that he's a bonafide LT. I'm still not convinced Gilbert is a legit LT prospect, I like him better on the right, and Massie is strictly a RT. Adams is a better fit, and a better talent. I just really worry about his commitment to being a great NFL player. I hope like hell he proves me wrong. If he does, this line could be elite in 2 years, which would be a remarkable turnaround. Please, Mike. Put the bong down and do some GD lifting. 18 reps is sad for a guy 325 lbs, long arms or not.

Kugler is a great coach. Think he'll get the best from Adams.
I have to admit, it's a little exciting. You don't see a ton of major boom-or-bust picks from the Steelers this early. The fact that they got DeCastro in the first gave them this luxury. I think Adams' bust % is higher than his boom %, which is why I wasn't a fan (particularly in round 1) but other than Kalil, he has the highest ceiling of any OT in the draft, Reiff included.

The last OSU pot head we drafted got us a Super Bowl. I would have rather had Ta'amu or Trumaine Johnson, but I like the pick.
I don't even care that he smokes weed. to test positive at the combine, though, shows staggering stupidity. THAT'S what bothers me. This guy got popped twice in college, got caught in the frigging tattoo scandal - you'd think he'd have enough sense to put the pipe down for a couple of weeks, for Christ's sake. Dude has shown absolutely no ability to use adult judgment as of yet.

The exciting part, though, is that before the combine, based solely on tape/potential, the top 5 consensus O-linemen in the draft were Kalil, DeCastro, Martin, Reiff, and Adams. All 5 were projected top-20 selections. Steelers had picks 24 and 56 and got two of those five.

I was pumped to see Massie there and shocked to see Pittsburgh take Adams. Love everything about the pick except the weed, but in the Steelers I trust. Pittsburgh brought him in for a reason and they did their due dilligence. Could be another SERIOUS steal in the draft. Line is set to be scary good for a long, long time. Slide Willie Colon to G.

Adams + DeCastro + Pouncey + Colon + Gilbert

HERE WE GO!!!

@CharleyCasserly: Pitt - Adams - Might be second best LOT in Draft. Can he stay out of trouble. Lot of potential to be gd pick

@gregcosell: Adams most athletic LT in draft. Failed drug tests + lying led to fall. But very impressive on film as both pass blocker + run blocker.

So Im reading that Colbert said Adams sought out the FO and requested a face to face interview with Colbert, Tomlin, and Rooney after the positive drug test. Tomlin told him he's off their draft board, but gave him stipulations, and he met his criteria. Colbert says "we'll see" if he gets straightened out and will watch him on a day to day basis.

I question the pick, but I give the FO the benefit of the doubt. Still shocked we took him will all the off-field issues and other highly rated positional need players on the board. Im with Colbert, we'll see.

Any idea what the stipulations are? Reading he gave up part of his signing bonus?
