***OFFICIAL*** Steelers 2012 Thread (1 Viewer)

I dunno, I'm kind of liking this offense right now, and if the defense plays anywhere near the level they played in the 4th quarter yesterday, they will be right there with the top teams at the end of the season.

While 80 yard bombs are beautiful to watch and certainly enjoyable, nothing warms the cockles of my heart like a pounding running game in the 4th quarter when you have the lead.

Some great trends here...

AJ Green: 1 catch for 8 yards -worst game of the season

RG3: 72.8 QB rating, 1.3 yards per rush. -both worst numbers this season

Eli: 41.1 QB rating -worst this season

Now if they can get Polamalu healthy.

Let's not look past the KC Chiefs. Do you remember that 5 game stretch in 2009??
And how dumb is it they Baltimore twice in 3 weeks. I understand making some division games more important near the end of the season BUT playing 5 of your last 7 games of the season against division opponents, when you only play 6 total, seems out of whack

Fellas we will beat KC at home, period.

The Oak and Ten losses were  , won't happen again, not at home, not on Monday night, not the way this team is currently playing.

I dont know if its because Troy has been hurt as well, but I think Ryan Clark is the leader of this defense. With Farrior gone, I feel like he is the heart and soul of this D. I dont care who has the C on their chest, but to me, I think Clark is the leader of this defense.

You're kidding.....right? At home, Monday night - we will destroy them
Remember last year when Tyler Palko almost beat the Steelers last year on national TV. Cassell might stink but he is definitely better than Palko. Nobody plays down to the level of their opponent like the Steelers unfortunately

I hated it when I first saw the schedule and still don't like it now. On the bright side the Steelers are playing their best football right now while the Ravens appear to be struggling a little bit.

As per Mike Tomlin's press conference:

1. Doesn't sound like Antonio Brown is going to play this week against the Chiefs. Tomlin didn't say it but Brown being out will leave the Steelers with only 3 WRs so look for them to activate David Gilreath from the practice squad.

2. Mendenhall may return to practice this week and could possibly be active but probably not. Dwyer is almost certainly going to be active. Rainey has bruised ribs and will likely be cleared to play but how much he plays will depend on his pain tolerance.

3. Polamalu & Gilbert may return to practice this week but are expected to miss the game Monday night.

4. Stevenson Sylvester may also return to practice but is questionable.

ANy word on DeCastro? And I know no one cares but hanging on to Emmanuel Sanders this long might pay off (I have Brown too) :confetti:

Rotoworld:The Steelers' optimism on rookie RG David DeCastro's (knee surgery) return has reportedly "tempered" of late.OL coach Sean Kugler offered only that DeCastro has "a chance" to come back this season. The first-rounder has been working out in the pool and riding a stationary bike, but has yet to resume football activities. Nov 2 - 10:54 AM

100% truth.
:goodposting: It's uncanny. Happens every year. The Steelers will win Monday night, but the score will be close. 24-20 or so....
Normally I would agree with you but I think the team is clicking too well right now and the Chiefs are just a mess. Barring an injury to Ben I see a blowout -- somewhere in the vicinity of a 17-20 point victory.

I doubt we're seeing him this year. At this point, I don't want to risk re-injury, let him rehab it all off-season and hope he comes back 100% next year. A shame.

The team is gelling nicely.

Clark, Ike and the secondary - huge props. No where to throw or run even w/ minimal pressure. The plays that Clark, Ike and Lewis are making time after time. Eli knew he was beat mid third quarter even w/ the lead.

IMO Dwyer and Redman are better backs for our O than Mendy. Neither guy goes down on first contact and both can find the creases up the middle that Colon and Legursky/Pouncey can make. Colon specifically looks possessed. Starks can hold his own for the most part and Adams w/ TE/FB help and good play calling is better each down. And no OL injuries when we are falling FORWARD. Credit goes to Haley here. I think his play calling has been great at keeping D's off balance. Excellent acquisition.

We are a serious contender. Baltimore has regressed so much - I think we can easily take the North.

We need AB

We need no OL surprises - just keep doing what we are doing.

We need Ben and Heath Miller

A healthy D even w/out Troy.

We are very balanced and have good options in all aspects of the game. The Giants are a good team and while the score was close a few questionable calls and bounces kept it from a near blowout. They weren't sharp but we dictated the game pretty much. I'm interested to see us against an elite D like SF - and how our D can hold up against an elite passing O like NE/NO.

my take - what you say?

Absolutely. He's everywhere and inspiring the youngun's.All the Steelers DE's tackle and WRAP UP.

Im always first to criticize Mendy for his soft play and reluctance to run hard. But in his one game this year (vs the Eagles) he ran with plenty of determination and drive.Im all for letting him show he can/has changed his ways and that he can impose the Steeler run game upon defenders.

Any idea how theyve been dividing up the snaps between Keisel, Ziggy, and Heyward recently?? Need a 4pt to win this week and might as well take a flyer on 1 of them (or maybe Poe, Pitoitua, or Jackson) tonight.

Adam Caplan‏@caplannfl

Steelers waived DT Alameda Ta’amu.

Huge disappointment here. I was hoping he was the future, starting next year. Maybe he'll clean himself up.

Win or lose this Chiefs game has been a disaster. Ben has played with a million leg injuries not sure about shoulder ones though. And against the Ravens next week.

Sources are saying Ben has a seperated shoulder, and that it is an "unusual injury in regards to the seperation", whatever that means.

With two of three against B-more, this can't be good. Even though Leftwich is the No. 2, I think there might be a chance we see Batch this week if Ben is out.

Hola, Stillers fans!

Even though some of the usual luster is off because of the names not playing, this is still an incredibly important game for both. I fully expect the play to be mean, if sloppy as hell.

Good thing the NFL schedule people didn't back load games with only division opponents this year.

I don't have a problem with that but scheduling the same teams two games in a three week span was stupid. I complained about it in the shark pool when they announced the schedule for just this reason (if either team suffered serious injuries to key players). If you want to back load then they should have had them play this week and again in week 16 or 17.I'll admit that if the situation was reversed I wouldn't be shedding tears for the Ravens but it does suck.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ben is done for the year.

ESPN's Bob Holtzman reported on NFL Live Wednesday that doctors have advised Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder, ribs) to not return until his partially dislocated rib is completely healed, and "that could take up to six weeks."

Possibly but I think a lot will depend on how the next few weeks go. If we're in the playoff hunt I bet he'll be back. If not then why bother?

I hope his health is considered a higher priority over their playoff chances. It sounds like this could be life threatening and I would rather them err on the side of caution.

if he is fully healed going into week 17 and we have a shot, why not play him?

If y'all were forced to choose between Dwyer and Redman this week (non-PPR), Redman is the call, right?

He figures to get some yardage on 3rd down dumpoff passes with an outside shot at a short TD, yes?

I'd say that's a fair statement. It's been said by Finkle in the Steelers RB thread, and I'm betting most in this thread would agree.

Thanks man. Redman it is.

Hate to be that guy...but gotta question Wallace's effort. Could have gotten his feet down on that 3rd down in the end zone. Probably could have caught that low one if he had gotten on the ground.

I know, i am just the fat ### on the couch, just giving my thoughts.

Should the Steelers start Batch next week? Byron sucked today... bounce passes don't count in the NFL.
I think Batch should start, thought so before the Baltimore game too, but I would be surprised if the Steelers coaching staff bails on Lefty so quick. Some of those bounce passes were bad throws but some were intentional because no one was open. This team desperately needs Antonio Brown back...

I'm glad someone else said it. I was beginning to think my opinion was being colored by Wallace's contract situation, but I feel like he's half-#ssing it a lot. I don't know why he'd do that, as he's got to be trying to maximize his value to potential FA suitors, but between the drops, the fumbles, and the inability to make the tough sideline catches, he's not making himself richer with his performance. Even that circus catch in the KC game was more luck than anything, had the ball not wedged between his legs, that would have been incomplete too.
