Congrats Broncos fans, great game by the defense. Awfully disappointing as a Panthers fan to watch that game. Way too much to list in terms of mental mistakes, play calling, missed FGs, stupid punt coverage, stupid penalties, non-calls (that Ginn non-PI call was atrocious, especially when they called the DT one later on a throw away ball - didn't matter, but the Ginn one did) and bad play by Cam and the OL to even discuss it. Still upsets me to think about the amount of stupid things we did and then to think that we had the ball with 4 minutes left down by 6.

Too bad we had to waste such an awesome game by the Carolina D. They played as well as the Denver D and helped keep us in the game. Unfortunately, our offense and special teams put them in way worse position than the Denver O/special teams.

Oh well, this team should be in the hunt for the SB for the next few years, so hopefully we get back there to make up for last night.

The reason I picked Carolina after the way Denver's defense handled the Pats was their running game. Don't you neutralize Ware and Miller by running up the gut with guys like Stewart and Newton? With Cam throwing off target in the first quarter I expected a heavy dose of running but it never really came.

Agreed, play calling was baffling. The play calling was just bad an not creative. It sure seemed like I could tell when we were just going to jam one up the middle and it just wasn't working. All we seemed to do was put ourselves in 2nd and 3rd and long and make it harder on the OL knowing the D could go all out and rush Newton. I don't even recall one zone read play after the 1st quarter.

Last thing. That ### #### Ginn trick play throw back to Newton was just plain awful. That killed that drive, which sure seemed to be our offense. If you start moving, just throw a pick, get a 15 yard penalty or try to bowl over a defender and fumble. Seemed like we had 4 or 5 drives that stalled in Denver territory and got us 0 points because of bad plays.

OK, I need to stop thinking about it. We lost, plain and simple.

And on at least two occasions, Ted Ginn scooted out of bounds when he could have pushed upfield and challenged the DBs coming at him, probably conceded 5 yards each time. I get playing it safe 90% of the time but in the Super Bowl, don't you go all out? I thought that was incredibly soft even considering he's a WR. And finally, the bonehead taunting from the Broncos which kept a Panther's drive alive--just idiotic. Again, the regular season is one thing, but how you don't get over yourself and play GD near-perfect mental football in the big game is beyond me.

Very bullish on Panthers prospects next season. Honestly, KB would have made a huge difference. I believe you have to take baby-steps to championships - this is just one step. Panthers will go into the playoffs next year with Superbowl experience - they will be more hungry, focused, and able to deal with adversity.

Like you said, almost everyone was giving the Broncos no chance. They severely underestimated the effect of their defense on Carolina. The better defense +points is rarely a bad bet & I'm glad I didn't change my mind just because of all the hype.

They called a couple ticky tack personal fouls on Carolina. One on pushing a guy right after the whistle (that 15 yards would have been nice on the missed 44 yarder) and on Boston on a blind side hit when the Broncos player was looking right at him. Lost 20+ yards in field position on that in the second half, could have had a FG. Also, would have been nice to get the PI on Darby when he was all over Ginn before the ball got there. Lost out on a 1st down at the 15 and had to kick a FG. Thank goodness they got that corrected when they called it on Norman on a throw away ball. Refs were not good at all and certainly didn't give Carolina anything compared to what they gave Denver.

Also, Ginn is a speed/non-contact guy. He made a nice catch and I have no issue with him going out of bounds. We lost Brown due to a concussion when he went high for a ball. Those two aren't built for contact and the last thing we need is to lose Ginn for 5 yards. There were two DBs right there, he wasn't going to cut it back for a TD.

That said, we lost the game pure and simple, the offense and special teams had more mental mistakes and bad plays than you can have and hope to win a game. The defense shined and in some cases kept them in the game and allowed Newton to have the ball with 4 minutes and the chance to win.

Manning "leading" his team to one offensive TD late in the game...predicting run play after run play when Denver's coaches obviously didn't trust him throwing. The worst SB I've watched in the last 30 years. Ugly.

I love Defensive battles.. With the way the NFL has made this an "Offensive" league it was nice to see an "Old School" knockdown drag out game.

I had no rooting interest in this game. Was just hoping for a good, exciting game--and frankly--I feel like this was one of the dullest Superbowls that I can remember. The commercials were pretty weak with the exception of one or two. The game was a sleeper. The halftime show was meh at best. Honestly---I think the best part of this Super Bowl when Lady Gaga performed the national anthem.

If you like defense it was a great game.

I like defensive games--but I like seeing good defenses go up against energetic and inspired offenses. Carolina's offense--and Cam specifically looked disinterested and uninspired. Peyton looked like he was interested--but was limited by his physical capabilities. In my opinion---it really ended up being a dull Super bowl

When you on your ### most of the night....you tend to look disinterested, beat up..and not wanting to dive into a pile to recover your own fumble.#Owned.

Lol..I don't disagree--and I might be mis-remembering--but wasn't the game a one possession game at that moment? I think Carolina was down only six at the time--so for a guy to not even dive for the ball in a one possession game in the 4th quarter of the Super bowl doesn't just make him look disinterested--it makes him disinterested. I don't care if you were on your butt every play up to that point in time--your team still had a chance to march down the field to win--and he just stood there. Just seemed like the Carolina offense was not interested in fighting back versus the Denver D at all---even with Talib self destructing in the first half.

Looked to me like he was trying to get a better position and he was in the scrum for the ball as it went backwards. I think people are a little over the top on that play.

I like Cam.....a lot. I think the kid is as gifted a QB as anyone in the league. But that clearly looked to me like he wanted no part of the ball on that play. He just backed away.

No matter. He was beaten up and defeated tonight. He is still a great player. But his rep took a big hit tonight with that play IMO. It will be perceived like he wanted no part of that.

For the most part agree with you here.

I hated those 1st down runs. It was painful to watch as a Panthers fan. Oh well, hopefully the cats will make it back to the SB next year. I am happy for Peyton. I don't care about the Broncos organization, but I do like Peyton a lot, and if any team was to beat the Panthers, I'm glad it was a team he was leading. It's a nice way to finish his career.

Just have the NFL run a contest every year.....with the winning high school or college marching band getting to play at Halftime. Have the NFL pay for it. They'd get more goodwill doing that than a bunch of stars lip-synching and doing several lines from their most famous songs. Plus, the viewers will actually get to see a show that has heart and excitement. Would be great and if they marketed it correctly......it probably wouldn't hurt their ratings 1/2 of 1/2 of a percentage point.

I'm still astounded they couldn't figure something else out other than that and Newton doing straight drop back passing in a fixed pocket. I thought they'd seen the light when they got that solid gain on the misdirection roll out/throw back to Olsen, but they never attempted anything like that again besides the aborted lateral to Ginn. The rest of the time they were playing right into the Bronco D's hands having him just stand there waiting for guys to get open.

That was probably the last Broncos Super Bowl I will get to watch with my Dad due to health problems, and the first time we got to watch a Broncos Super Bowl together in 17 years. I am so happy we got to see them win at least one last time!

I really didn't have much optimism for most of the season, but this just reinforces my belief that if you get in the playoffs and find your rhythm, you always have a shot. This year's Broncos are by no means one of the best teams ever, but Von Miller was amazing, and Demarcus Ware played his heart out. That defense is right up there with the Steelers, Bears, Ravens, and Seahawks. With a defense like that you at least have a chance to beat anyone.

Respect to the Panthers fans. Everyone of them I have met, and on this board, seem to be very classy. And sorry for some of the idiotic Broncos fans like Tanner and Georg. I guess all fan bases have knuckleheads, but for the most part Broncos fans are humble, and just glad to have the opportunity to watch their team compete at the highest level. Awesome, I have a lot of great memories from watching games/fights etc. with my Dad, both growing up and as an adult. I got to see him watch the Red Sox win the WS which I know meant so much to him. He's been gone for five years now but those moments will last forever. I hate the Broncos but I'm truly happy for you and your Dad, great story.

Read somewhere that Superbowl ratings peaked during halftime and went down from there.. ratings = so it won't be changing anytime soon.

Great defensive battle. The game was still definitely in play all the way till Von Miller's sack/fumble with CAR only down 6 at the time. Cam was launching a long ball there and Von Miller just got there in time which really dashed CAR chances. Before that play a TD by CAR flips the superbowl to a 'can Manning lead Denver to a FG to win it" vs a dominate CAR D. Ealy could have been MVP with his play if CAR won and Miller didn't get that 4th quarter sack/fumble.

Cam did seem a bit out of it early, but it's the first time at the superbowl extra adrenaline and he was getting pounded by Denver's D right out of the gate. Brady was a battered man in that AFC championship game too. One of the keys there though is NE's WR's/TE are >>>> CAR WR's/TE. If no one is open, it doesn't matter too much who the QB is. And with the Denver pass rush, there wasn't a lot of time to get open. NE WR's also are the more quick/shifty type which can get open on the shorter routes so Brady could deliver his passes just as he was getting hit, CAR's WRs are more the long speed type that take longer to get open and the pocket would be collapsed by then.

For a Broncos fan I'm sure it was awesome. From a pure football standpoint it was very sloppy and Carolina never brought anything on offense. The Denver D and Carolina D played great but the play calling and turnovers for Carolina were brutal. I think Denver deserved to win but wish Carolina made it more interesting by not imploding with turnovers and penalties. It was a very boring game overall IMO.

I said Denver's D, especially Miller and Ware played incredible. With that being said Carolina played incredibly bad with the opportunities they had on offense. The turnovers besides the two strip sacks on Newton were brutal, the drops, bad throws with wr's open,wr's like Ginn running out of bounds to avoid contact and idiotic penalties combined with terrible playcalling took away any chance of them making it a game. Denver's offense was just as bad minus the turnovers and stupid penalties. I love great defensive battles, this one was heavily aided by the play of one very inept offense and one with players who totally imploded.

I mean you had two really good (but really one insanely good) defense out there --of course the offenses were going to look like ####. I agree with the sentiment its refreshing to see a game like this when the NFL has made so many changes to help offenses.

For a Broncos fan I'm sure it was awesome. From a pure football standpoint it was...

from a pure football standpoint, it was an historically good D continuing its complete and utter dominance--only this time on the biggest stage and against an offense and MVP that the media and many, many others were touting as completely unstoppable. What you refer to as Carolina 'imploding' is simply what opponents of this D have done all year long. at some point it's okay to acknowledge that the Denver D played really, really well.it was, in a word, awesome

I guess not everyone has the chops to watch a good old fashioned defensive football game.

I personally found the entire Super bowl experience this year to be very flat after Lady Gaga sang the national anthem. I generally love watching great defense in games--but I like watching games where you see great defenses battling great offenses. The metaphoric irresistible force meeting the immovable object. This game was far from that. This was a game where two solid defenses were playing against two fairly putrid offenses. More power to you guys for finding the game to be entertaining--as this is a subjective thing--but I personally found it to be a very "buzz kill" experience in almost every respect. I don't buy that for a second. Cam played with zero to no emotion the entire game. Carolina's play calling was putrid at best. J-Stew gets hurt early and except for one good jump into the end zone was not the same player. Cotchery dropped a gimme pass in the second half that would have put Carolina at first and goal from the 3 yard line. Even when Carolina had the chance to make plays on offense---they blew them. Ginn had some drops that had nothing to do with the defense either. Besides that--once Denver got up 10-0--they also resorted to vastly conservative play calling. The offensive play calling for both teams really played into the imagery of this being a "defensive battle". Both defenses were solid--but neither offense was really applying much pressure to either defense.

For me it wasn't so much the acts or anything in particular about the choreography, which seemed decent, but the sound quality was awful. I'm guessing it sounded a lot better to those in attendance, as is almost always the case, but the vocals for the most part were almost completely drowned out by all of the background music, and particularly so during Coldplay's songs. Really it LOOKED like the vocalists were exerting a ton of energy and passion, but that didn't come through in the audio. Like I said just seemed like a terrible job on whoever was in charge of sound engineering...

I could not tell you anything about the half time show because it was a half time show. That time is for a piss, a fresh beer, a cigar, and reloading the grill. Absent the show being the NFL'a hottest cheerleaders making it on the 50 yard line I just prefer to go with my routine.

I'm not sure if you're older than me but if you find that debacle entertaining we really are polar opposites in looking at quality music/performances. I don't watch DWTS or The Bachelor either so I guess I'm just out of touch. Why don't they just put on a talented band like Pearl Jam, let them play and leave out the crapass pop/rap sidekicks. That would be worth watching.

Some, but there were s lot of penalties, dropped balls, and restricted play-calling. That's just bad football.

I find it interesting that some think Denver's Defense cannot adjust their gameplan to what Carolina does. If I'm Denver, I play man-2-man on the WRs, a safety over the top of Olsen, focus on outside containment and less on pass rushing. Use Miller to spy Cam. Cam's not outrunning Miller.

To me, this game is all about gap control and contain. If Cam beats you over the top throwing the ball, then so be it. Eliminate their strength which is running the ball.
