***Official Super Bowl LII Thread*** - Eagles vs Patriots (1 Viewer)

He has to be in his teens right? Hopefully no kids.

More importantly- Go Eagles!
He's well known as the Cowboys special needs fan here. I usually make fun of him for a little bit and then end up feeling bad about it. Such an easy target. But he was crying for attention because his team didn't make the playoffs so I thought I would humor him a little. And as usual, I kind of feel bad about it now. Sorry Corky

Hey everyone. Please acknowledge steadybobbin.  His team hasn't played a meaningful game in over 20 years and he desperately needs your attention. Just like a post he makes or do something so that he feels a little better about himself. He hates seeing Eagle and Patriot fans discussing a game that actually means something. So please be kind to him. It's not easy representing a team of criminals who repeatedly suck your after year. Peace be with you my friend.
The whole lot of you are ruining a good thread, hope this helps.

I hear that Gronk guy is ok too, and I don't think there is that big of a difference in rbs and wrs.
Gronk and Dion Lewis are the two I'm.worried about. Gronk is matchup proof. No one has a 260-pound Defender who has the speed to keep up with Gronk. Including the Eagles.  And I hope that the coaches has a plan on keeping up with Lewis out of the backfield. He's another nightmare matchup.

I think you are on point there. Pats seem to have great depth at WR and RB too? Eagles only real advantage I see is in the trenches but S Smith just mentioned your D line has more sacks since week 5 so probably a bit better than I think?

Nobody cares to comment on this in the Patriots thread, so thought I'd try here instead. Curious to hear your thoughts on it and see if you think it will come into play today.

Numbers.

There is no conspiracy. It's similar to the Jordan Rules book. Belichick and the Patriot mystique is intimidating and refs refrain from calling penalties against them in crucial situations. I guess some could argue that they've earned that respect.  Since it's just human nature and nothing the refs are consciously doing, there's not much point in getting upset about it. It is what it is.

DL is the advantage for Philly.  The pats have gotten better with that type of team, and seem to slowly wear them down over the course of the game, but it is still a worry.

Teams know you have to get to Brady up the middle, and NE knows other teams know that.  Should be a great game.

I will go as far to say that Gronk is the most important match-up in this game (and there is not a close second)...if Philly can not stop him they have no chance...he is just too much of a force in that scenario and Brady will go to him every play...it will break a team's back and spirit...on the flip-side if Philly figures out a way to handle him than all bets are off...that would give their D great confidence...the best I have seen Gronk handled was by Eric Berry in the opener this year...you could just tell that him winning individual battles against Gronk made that team more confident and helped them knock off the Pats...if I'm Philly I don't care how many guys I have to put on him, I'm doing whatever I can to take him away...will be fascinating to see what they come up because he is no secret...

the RBs are fun comparison, because it shows ht the position has evolved. i don't think either team would trade their current RBs for the other team's. both are good,  but i don't think either is better. I don't see Dion Lewis trucking Sandejo like he did 2 weeks ago, and not sure any Eagle RB can break ankles as good as Lewis or Burkhead can

Just got back from a week long cruise to Mexico, and took almost 3 hours to catch back up. Has any game thread been at 34 pages 4 hours before kickoff???

I'm expecting a great game. I feel like the Eagles are the better team everywhere but QB and coach (and coach is presumed based on experience/history: Dougie has looked just as good in his brief stint!) Problem, is that QB and coach are the two most important spots.

Prediction: Eagles D-line harasses Brady and Eagles look dominant for 3 quarters. Brady and Belicheck bring the Pats back to within a score but Doug does NOT fold as lesser coaches have. Eagles win 27-23

just saw a Fred Barnett jersey in the crowd for the pre-game show...

i agree with Kevin Hart

Eagles - 83

Patriots -6

who the F had the idea to make Matthew Mcguanehey (i know spelled wrong, and i see no reason to try and spell it right) the narrator for anything NFL related. commercials with scarves and d-bags is fine, please NFL alone

Pre-game stuff is horrible.  I have had it on for about 1/2 hour in the background, and there is nothing about the teams or players in this game.  At least espn in the morning talked about Pats and Eagles.

If you need someone to sound high, he's your guy.

I'm just watching the local pregame.

One of the best things about living on the West Coast now is the football start times.  Only waiting until 3:30 for the Super Bowl is great.

I’ll predict 31-20 Pats

i'm nervous for the Pats OL. they might be so crushed after being on their backs all game, all 5 may retire tonight  :pokey:

I've been thinking about how bb will attack this deep eagles line.  I think the answer is to change personnel groupings until you get a mismatch and then go no huddle. You can't tire out the defensive line rotation but you can attack the ones who are in right now, and the patriots can get a substitution from no huddle without the eagles being able to match it by bringing in or removing an extra tight end lined up out wide.
