In that video you can see Mike almost turn as his blood pressure rises. He's still a pit bull if provoked and it still doesn't appear to take much to make him turn.

Yeah, figured this is what would happen. Floyd is fighting an amature style flawlessly at the pro level. People want brawls. It's never going to happen with a Floyd fight. He's too good.

Agreed. May-Canelo had the Garcia-Matthysse fight was a huge deal. Other then that, it's pretty pathetic.

It's plain and simple...Tyson is an absolute student of the sport.The man comes off as a baffoon...a mindless pit bull of a thug...but that's not who he was with Cus. He watched film religiously and practiced all those styles from Corbett to Ali.

It offends Tyson to his very core that a pure counter puncher would ever put himself in that conversation.

It offends.

I tout mayweather as the best going right now...and I also hated Ali...purely hated him to my grave....and I'm offended that mayweather would not only put himself in that conversation...but try to elevate himself above.

Ridiculous....and offensive.

I totally get Mike's disdain. As for his articulation and whether or not it matters how money can or cannot walk amongst the people is another thing.

Post fight interview. Apparently Manny had a shoulder injury.

eta: this explains why Manny wasnt throwing the output he usually does(though a good part of that goes to mayweather as well). Sounds like this is legit as they had to report it to usada a few weeks ago. I hope they rematch.

Shoulder injury or not, I don't think a rematch looks any different. Plus, with all the negative reactions from the general public, I don't know they could pull it off.

I dunno. I think a different strategy could win that fight. I didn't see anything last night that made me think he cant win. But mannys punch output was ridiculously low. Im just not sure if that was due to strategy, floyd, his shoulder, or a little bit of all of them.

eta: i really want to see an interview with Freddie discussing the actual strategy.

He was swinging at air. If he threw twice as many punches, he would have had a 9% connect rate and ate more jabs/counter right hands. Maidana, Cotto, and Oscar have given Floyd the toughest fights and they did it with a style Manny can't do. It will take a bigger guy, pressure fighter, someone willing to eat punches and bang inside. Margairito in his prime would have been a legit threat.

i mean thats manny though. He usually is able to do that. He also wasn't moving (his footwork) as much as he usually does. I wanted him to fight the maidana fight, but quicker and without tiring.

Yea i guess your right. I still think with a different game plan he could swarm him and score more. He really did need to leave it all out there.

 
Manny is a head hunter...he had no shot at beating Floyd now or 5 years ago.

You have to pound that body and smother Floyd. Bully and push him around.

Manny could never do that...he's way above his true weight class...

I absolutely hated this guy...but Golden Boy in his prime...would've beaten Floyd in his prime.

He's the perfect type of fighter to do it.

 
I may have been watching the fight in rose colored (beer goggled) glasses last night at Hooters, but I thought Pretty Boy crushed Pacman, and I hate PBF. Typical Mayweather fight really. Pac had some flurries that me made think why not do that more frequently, but that was it. Totally agree with tdoss as well as far as body shots go, its like Pac almost avoided the body or if he hit Floyd's midsection a filipino child would die.

 
This weekend, Canelo/Kirkland should be a slugfest.

Canelo wins, setting up a Fall 2015 Canelo/Cotto fight.

Floyd likely fights Khan next (as Khan generates more money than a Thurman fight).

I think Manny moves down to 140 for his next fight.

I read somewhere that Manny might start fighting more/exclusively in Asia, now that his star has been somewhat diminished.

Agree that Khan seems most logical. Will be interesting to see if May sticks around for another fight or two next year. For some reason I don't think he's going to stay too long and keep getting sucked back in, but who knows.

Seriously considering going to Ward next month. It's pretty convenient to my house.

 
Id love to see Manny vs Terrence Crawford. I don't there is a reasonable opponent for Floyd.

As for this weekend, Canelo should win and by stoppage early if he lives up to his potential. Cotto vs Canelo has to happen although I think Canelo should dominate that.

Unfortunate, by the way he wasnt pulling the trigger, and would stop flurries you could see something was off. Sadly, i dont think we will get the rematch. I still think he had a shot if he was at 100%. I think his team really failed him and he should have postponed. Terrible handling of the entire thing.

Yeah, it's too bad. I don't know if he made the shoulder worse during the fight, or if he could've rested it and gotten the September slot? And who steps in on short notice? It's so much GD money, there might be something to be said for just grabbing the :moneybag: and hoping for the best.

I also would like to see Manny vs Crawford, but I only see it happening if Top Rank feels Manny is really on his way out. You don't sacrifice the cash cow until you have to. And given the Asian market, the chances of Crawford (who is a phenomenal talent) becoming the draw Pacquaio is is <1%.

Canelo should beat Kirkland but it is not a sure thing and will definitely be fun while it lasts. A Kirkland-Cotto-GGG map for Canelo could turn him into the #1 draw by the end of 2016.

I think Canelo/GGG could possibly catapult one or both of those guys into being PPV attractions, although I don't know if Canelo's team would put him in there with Golovkin.

Agreed. Canelo is limited. I don't see him beating GGG.

The thing with GGG is he has yet to face a top-tier opponent. Canelo is not as explosive (who is?) but he's faced better fighters and has a proven chin.

I guess my larger point isn't that he would beat GGG but there are enough reasons for him to think he would win such that he would take the fight after (presumably) beating Kirkland and Cotto. And that would position him to be boxing's #1 draw post-Mayweather, win or lose. De La Hoya was only very briefly considered the best fighter in the world but he was consistently the #1 draw from 1998-2007.
