Hopefully I don't have to buy a pint for the next 20 years. Love it. That was a beautiful fight. Tons of respect for both guys.

Pacquiao to fight Vargas, either in Vegas or Dubai (ugh). Koncz said that he and Pac decided they weren't "comfortable" with Crawford's "style." Mmmmm-hmmm. BTW, Manny hasn't stopped anyone IN SEVEN YEARS.

Also Luis Ortiz priced him off the next Canelo card, which is a damn shame because the man can bang but he's no spring chicken. Probably not as dumb as Eubank dragging his feet to do the Golovkin fight or Broner wanting an absurd amount of money to fight Manny, but still pretty dumb. The boxing economy is shrinking, it seems that not all fighters are really understanding this.

The good news is that a) Santa Cruz is pursuing an immediate rematch with Frampton via a rematch clause and b) Canelo/Saunders might happen in Dec. HOPEFULLY it's a step towards GGG next year.

I still blame Canelo and Golden Boy.

Things are retracting right now when it had great opportunity to expand and explode...but golden boy decided to protect his boy and cause everyone to lose interest.

i agree....not enough big house hold names in the sport right now to NOT showcase the best the sport has to offer....its like being sick and not using the medication that would help you get better ...just plain ignorant

I don't think DLH accounted for the backlash, and it took awhile to build. A couple years ago DLH was pretty open in saying that they wanted to wait a couple years for GGG. But with GGG's star starting to rise, him starting to verbally call out Alvarez, and Canelo ceding the belt instead of taking the mandatory against Golovkin, I really think it backfired. Alvarez/GGG would've done great PPV numbers, and whatever fight Alvarez took after that probably would've been strong. But I think Smith is going to be a dud, and I think he did some real damage to his drawing power.

Alvarez's star was not dimmed at all by his loss to Mayweather. I think Mayweather's typical MO enraged a lot of Canelo's fans. But blatant ducking is hard to justify. And maybe its worse for Mexican fighters, I don't see Pacquiao facing the same amount of heat for ducking Crawford.

I'll watch Canelo vs Saunders if it's on HBO but I'm not paying for Canelo vs Smith.   I will not pay for Canelo on PPV until it's against GGG and am advising all boxing fans to do the same.

The interview with Starling by Merchant was classic:

Starling: Why dey stop da fight?

Merchant : They stopped the fight because they counted you out and ruled you were knocked out.

Starling: Do I look knocked out? Do I look wobbled?

Merchant: Well, you only have to be out for 10 seconds.

Starling: I wasn't even knocked down.

Still my favorite post-fight interview.

Not a complete performance by Spence, his defense looked a little suspect at times, but good lord can he beat the brakes off of people. Obviously hasn't beaten anyone elite yet, but he's taken out gatekeepers like Algieri and Bundu that other top 147's couldn't put away.

I respect Ghost a lot. Not the most talented dude, doesnt have one punch power by any stretch, but he is a tough dude who has always been game. And he took a long break during prime years to take care of his wife.

He was an ideal gatekeeper. But probably no longer after tonight.  Hopefully he hangs them up soon now that he is on the back end.

Definitely one of my favorite fighters, he's always had heart.  He looked sluggish last night in the second half of the fight though.  I don't know if it's his age or what, but he wasn't moving well at all at the end.

You know there's no way he's done though.

He could keep going as a step-up guy on PBC fights. And I know hanging it up is easier said than done, but it's so rare for boxers to retire in a good financial (he took home 3mm from the mayweather fight a couple years ago) and neurological situation.

Next weekend is ####### loaded.

I'm kind of buying into the fact that Brook can at least challenge GGG some, especially with a home crowd. He's going to have to be on his horse and staying outside continuously, but I think he can at least get it past 6.

Jacobs/Mora, great. Chocolotito and Cuadras, great.

Brook's eye socket was broken in the third. It seemed premature, but with only one eye there was only one possible outcome at that point and GGG was stepping on the gas, even by GGG standards. And further blows could've worsened the injury. I think that towel could've been the difference between Brook being able to fight once or twice in 2017.

Soto Karrass has had a nice career, but he's done.

Chocolatito-Cuadras was just pure fun. I'd love to see a rematch.

thoughts on Brook vs Canelo?  I think that would be interesting.
Would definitely watch, but it sounds like Brook wants to settle in at 154, and its supposedly only a pit stop for Canelo before getting back to fighting at a true 160. They could be two ships passing in the night, esp with Brook needing time to recover from surgery. Or, maybe Canelo makes up some reason to stay at 154, makes a big fight with Brook in England, and lets GGG continue to age out, although it will not  help repair the goodwill that he lost by giving up that belt to fight Liam ####### Smith. GGG predicts that GBP is going to low-ball him when they start talking about Sept 2017, giving them more excuse to continue to put it off. And Canelo's claimed that he's the "A-Side." Which might be technically true, but they need each other to really do big numbers.

Good news is that with Brook leaving, Spence will be in line to grab that IBF welterweight belt. Bad news, once that happens (and assuming Pac wins), the four belt-holders at 147  are going to be Pacquiao, who's pretty clearly taking the retirement tour of least resistance, and three unbeaten Haymon fighters, none of whom he seems to be in a hurry to pit against each other. Boxing!

Watched the Chocolatito fight and re-watched the GGG fight last night. Man, I thought Cuadras won that fight when all was said and done. I guess if you have Choco up 6-0 after 6 rounds you are going to have him winning the fight after 12, and he did win the compubox across the board by small margins, but that had the feel of a 7-5 round win from Cuadras when the final bell rang. Similarly with the GGG/Brook fight, I dont know what the announcers were watching. I thought after 4 rounds it was 2-2 if not 3-1 Brook with all the momentum. Of course GGG crushed in the 5th round, but we all can only wish Brook's trainer didn't throw in the towel. That could've been FOTY had it gone 8+ rounds and stayed close.
