Hopkins vs Dawson 2 on HBO tonight
Super pumped, most anticipated fight for me so far this year. Also super pumped its free.Know anything about the undercard guys?
Seth Mitchell is fighting. He is probably the hottest American Heavyweight prospect right now. . He was a damn good linebacker at Michigan State before knee injuries derailed his career. It wasn't until 2006 that he had ever even stepped into a boxing ring. He is a great athlete, but still pretty raw. However, he has gotten better each and every fight. It is only a matter of time before he gets a shot with one of the Vitali or Vlad.

Ahh, yes. Didnt recognize the name but I remember seeing him on a big fights' undercard last year where he got a KO in like the 2nd or 3rd. Looked impressive, now Im excited for that fight too :boxing:

Seth Mitchell is a beast. I thought he was glassed in rd 1.
Yeah, ridiculous comeback. Those body shots he was throwing were vicious and the smartest thing he could do. Cant wait for his next fight. As for the main event, cant say Im surprised by the outcome, but I cant remembered Hop ever getting beaten that badly. I had it 9-3 Dawson and I dont see how you can have it any closer. I dont even think Dawson fought all that great of a fight, or his best fight, and think we still haven't seen his peak. I was pretty lit last night so dont remember who he called out/said he wanted to fight? I think it was Ward, Bute would be interesting as well.I dont think Hop is totally finished, but he should start thinking about it. Dawson was about the worst possible matchup for him at this point.

Dawson is the most overrated guy in boxing. All the skills and physical advantages, but he is far too conservative. His lack is work rate and unwillingness to make sacrifices in the ring will stop him from ever being great.

@Kieran Mulvaney

How good is Floyd Mayweather? He was in a fight, a real dogfight, through eight, and he just changed it up, eased away down the stretch and dominated in the 12th. Incredible. Cotto did what he needed to do, but it wasn't enough. What a talent Mayweather is.

Floyd is really unlikeable - but he is a hell of a fighter.

How do you hit him? Its almost impossible to get a clean hit.

Sounds like Canelo will be fighting September 15. Who do you want to see him fight? Early rumors are Kirkland, which would be entertaining, but likely an easy win for Alvarez.

quick question. Will the kham patterson fight be on ppv or hbo?
HBO, not this weekend, but next. Good fighter on the undercard as well: Adrian Broner. He is 22 and the second young champion behind Canelo. If anyone is the next Floyd Mayweather, it is Broner. He is cocky, brash and damn good.

If Floyd and Manny were to fight, where would it rank all-time in terms of most-hyped fights?
Biggest since Floyd vs Oscar which was 07...with the way it has built up, it is likely a bigger fight. It would break the PPV record IMO.
Would make that fight look small. De la Hoya is big with Hispanics but manny is big in other parts of the world. Would be a huge fight.
That was a pretty damn big fight-it made $650 million, most ever for a fight. Oscar is the biggest PPV money maker in boxing history. Floyd is #2. So it is hard to really say any fight would dwarf that.

It would beat the De La Hoya fight for sure.

To answer the question of how you hit Floyd? Body.

Cotto came in head hunting...it's almost impossible to hit Floyd cleanly in the head. Floyd looked comfortable in the corner, slipping punches, head movement and using his shoulders. Bang his body. It's not easy and you are going to get hit but it's the only way...body for 8 rounds...every now and then, throw at the head but sparingly...then head hunt in the later rounds if you see him slowing and opening up.

Unfortunately Khan-Peterson got canceled due to Peterson testing positive for synthetic testosterone. Khan has publicly thanked Mayweather for trying to clean up the sport (which is interesting because Khan is trained by Manny's trainer, Freddie Roach). Tonight's ESPN2's Friday Night Fights has a great main event. Two undefeated, talented young 140 junior welter: Karim Mayfield vs Raymond Serrano. It will be worth watching.

ETA: Actually Mayfield isn't young at all. He is 31, However, he is very young for a pro fighter: 15-0-1. He didn't turn pro until 26.

I feel like Broner has been fighting every other month for the last 9 months. Both crazy and awesome.

That fight is off now because of Petersons failed drug test killing the main event. However he will be back on HBO in July.
