Canelo isn't scared of anyone. He wants GGG. It's just a matter of finding the timing to maximize the money which is a year or 2 IMO.

In the interview Canello and Cotto were the names thrown out. Also talked bout Ward. I don't know enough about the fight game to know if any of those are realistic.

He did get hit a bit last night but looked like the shots barely even registered. Think I saw one body shot that got him a bit otherwise he just looked like a machine.
Canelo is almost a lock to happen when the timing and money is right. Ward needs to fight him because Ward has no fans and no cache despite being maybe the best MW in the world before this weird semi-retirement. Ward is a total crapshoot. I doubt Cotto fights him. Cotto will fight Canelo next as that's a mega payday. I would exoect Cotto to retire after that.

Well the way Ward was tossing money around last june at the Boxing hall of fame banquet auction im guessing hes not hurting for cash....i was in attendance and i was stunned how much he spent...cant remeber the exact amount but it was alot

I hate that they are doing these PBCs mid-day, and they always seem to be on the weekend Im working. Especially this time of year, that timeslot seems like an awful idea to get ratings, although they seem to be doing decent.

Will be in the building next week for Khan - Algieri. Sucks Malinaggi pulled out of his fight. But im really looking forward to Khan Algieri. I think it will be a good fight. If Khan can dominate i think he can stake his claim at fighting floyd.

Yeah he seems like the odds-on favorite at this point. I'd love to see Canelo get another shot at Mayweather before he hangs it up, hopefully he sticks around long enough for somebody to catch him.

what would be different this time around?

Two years further into his prime, Mayweather's two years further away from his. And granted, the result might be the same, but who's left/would make an interesting fight? Thurman? Quillin?

doesnt matter who Payweather fights...it will NEVER be interesting

I see what you did there.

Honestly, I feel like the onus is on Mayweather's opponents to make it interesting. May is -- as of now -- the unsolved puzzle, or the unscaled mountain, whatever metaphor you want to use. And he fights in a manner that's simply designed to win, not create action or win casual fans or to get knockouts, but to simply hit his opponent far more than his opponent hits him. The last fight (where I thought Mayweather fought very well) lacked tension/drama because Pac was terrible.

I wanna see guys who are going to have the best chance at solving the puzzle. And there aren't many more opportunities, depending on when he's going to retire. My guess is three more fights.

Money Payweather already made Canelo look like an amature fighter ...Canelo has done nothing since to make me believe he would be any better this time around....his style is tailor made for moneyman.

If Payweather was forced to fight in a phone booth he would get destroyed by Canelo...but that aint gonna happen....i dont see any fighters who can catch ,then slow down, Floyd ...he will retire unbeaten and be remember for what he is ...a safety first boxing technician...he may not be fun to watch but he is the best at what he does ...hitting without getting hit...history will probably view him the same way it views Willie Pep

I know you hate the man...and he embarrassed your hero but don't you think you're selling him a bit short?

Canelo wasn't making business decisions all night just because he couldn't hit Floyd.

He wasn't throwing those hands because Floyd was tagging him hard with counters.

The only fight I thought Money had a shot at losing over the past several years was Canelo.

He has true size, power in both hands and loves to brawl.

I thought since he was being groomed by Golden Boy...he'd come out working the body and using his size to his advantage...bullying Floyd.

I think if he were to use the right gameplan...he'd have one of the best shots at beating Floyd.

But for some reason he came out trying to outbox Floyd...just insane. He rarely went to the body and wouldn't mix it up.

You need a dedicated body assassin to beat Floyd. I'm dead certain that Julio Cesar Chavez would have annihilated Floyd in their respective primes. Even though Chavez couldn't handle Sweet Pea. Personally...I think Sweet Pea is better defensively. Sweet Pea could move his entire body at lightning speed. The guy slipped a jab once, and in a blur...ended up behind the fighter so fast that he pulled down his trunks before the guy even knew he was there.

Floyd is elusive and protects that head like no one's business...but his midsection can be had. Headhunting won't beat him. Punching Sweet Pea was like trying to punch a hummingbird in the mouth with your eyes closed.

Amir Khan v Algieri in about 30 mins on Spike.
prediction?
I think Khan and Algieri have basically the same style and skill set. Amir is just a better at everything except maybe his chin. Khan wins a wide decision. I want to see Amir get KO'd because I hate him. He holds too much and thinks he is a hell of a lot better than he is. I'm just not sure Algieri has any power.
im picking Algieri in an upset

How? I just can't picture it.

Khan will probably take him lightly and gets out hustled ...thats what im hoping at least

was enjoying the card on Spike....and then they decide to go to Jeremy Piven between rounds for his analysis
That ruined it for you? I think the the Khan-Algieri fight was enough to make up for Pivens Entourage plug.
nope, i got over it. can't figure out if Algeiri has an absolute granite chin or i just watch way more MMA and forgot these aren't 4 oz gloves

ETA: or Khan doesn't have much power. that hook in the 10th that hit behind the ear would stumble a lot of people, i would think

Bleh. Any chance Brook gets a shot at Mayweather instead of Khan? Thurman fights in July, so it looks like he's out.
Didn't like the fight or don't like Khan vs May? When is Ramadan? Can Khan even fight him in Sep?
Underwhelmed by Khan's performance and a potential Mayweather fight. Although I don't know if there are any realistic opponents for Mayweather at this point that would make me #### an eyebrow. I don't think Khan would have much chance to even make it interesting. And I don't think Mayweather's camp wants anything to do with GGG.

Ramadan starts in a few weeks, but that would certainly hamper Khan's prep if he got the shot. Three months until Mayweather's next fight, and he'd be fasting over a third of that time.

I was just kidding. It's a bit of both. He has a pretty good chin, but his curse is a total lack of power. Obviously the gloves make a big difference. If boxers wore 4 oz gloves, we would never get the kind of back and forth exchanges that makes boxing fun and unique. This could never happen:

Off-topic, but Michael Spinks had a really amazing, unique career.
Amazing career overshadowed by one loss.
I think you're right in that it overshadowed his career, most people are only gonna know him as the guy that Tyson knocked out in half a round (and, arguably, in Tyson's most impressive victory), not the guy who cleaned out the light heavyweight division in the 80's, then moved up to heavyweight and put losses #1 and #2 on Holmes before Tyson came and got him. But pretty amazing that he could just walk away with his fortune and (reportedly) his health intact.

I agree, he had a great career and was smart to walk away when he did. He will always live in the shadow of Leon and Tyson. Funny part is, he had a better career than both.

There is no more necessary gadget than a Chromecast if you're a boxing fan.

Just re-watched Holmes/Tyson. Holmes came out almost carefree in that fourth round and got absolutely mauled. Showed a ton of heart getting up twice when the writing was on the wall.

Boxing more more than any sport can see a lifetime of work defined on <1 minute.

Great fight last night. It was crazy to see that even though Algieri was at home, most of the people were there for Khan. I was quite disapointed in Khans performance, however Algieri came to fight. He impressed me tonight alot.

I would love to see Algieri Provodnikov again.

As for Khan, not sure that performance was enough to make one say he can beat Mayweather, but maybe its underwhelming enough that Floyd will take it. I would still like to see that fight more than any other for Floyd.

Im curious, who were the broadcasters for this fight and how were they? How was the Spike coverage?
It was Tarver and sineone, not sure who. They were fine. The production was nice, same as all the other PBC events. Dana Jacobson was the "host". It was nicely done.
