The parameters I've heard for a hypothetical GGG fight would be a rehydration clause, so GGG could only gain so much weight after weigh-in, probably at 147. That said, I don't think it's ever going to happen. GGG could drop Mayweather and I don't think it'd be too much of a shock. Golovkin might even be favored against him. I think Mayweather's 50-50 to fight again right now, as a completely uneducated guess.

That Quillen KO yesterday was rough to watch.

New York City, New York - WBA/IBO/IBF middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs) is now firmly focused on getting the winner of next month's fight between WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto and Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. That fight takes place on November 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

On Saturday night, Golovkin battered David Lemieux for an eight round TKO win as over 20,000 fans cheered him on at Madison Square Garden.

The WBC issued an order several months ago which directs the Cotto-Canelo winner to face the victor of Golovkin-Lemieux.

Golovkin, who holds the WBC's interim title at 160-pounds, is now mandatory challenger to whoever holds the full title.

According to Golovkin's promoter, Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, the Cotto-Canelo winner will have 15 days to inform the WBC of their intention to face - or not face - Golovkin.

Cotto-Canelo takes place at a catch-weight of 155-pounds. It remains to be seen if either of them is willing to face Golovkin at the full middleweight limit of 160-pounds.

"The WBC has mandated that the winner of Cotto-Canelo has 15 days to ratify if they are going to fight Gennady or not. And if they don't...if they don't agree to fight him, then the WBC will take the action under their rules," Loeffler said.

After Saturday, who looks to pose the stiffer challenge for GGG? I favor Canelo over Cotto but I think Cotto's style will present more problems for GGG than Canelo's. Regardless, the next two fights figure to be big time matches.

Cotto is also more likely to adapt during a fight than Canelo has shown to be able to so far, especially in their respective Mayweather fights.

To Canelo's credit, he possesses a superior chin to Cotto. He likely has more punching power than Cotto as well and would fare better in a hit-and-get-hit slugfest than Cotto would. After seeing the Lemieux fight though, I don't expect GGG to devolve to that level against an opponenet he respects.

GGG says he won't fight either below 160, which poses a problem for either, particularly Cotto. The only guy he was willing to go down for (pause) was Mayweather.

DLH has also said that he sees a Canelo/GGG fight as one he'd make in a few years, which serves him best as Canelo will be further into his prime, and GGG will be, presumably, moving out of his. But who knows. Golovkin's been calling out potential top opponents pretty relentlessly.

Constant work...jabs with continued body work will be the only chance to beat Mayweather.

It'll require head movement, footwork and angles to get away with that gameplan or Mayweather will make him pay.
