there is no way i'll take your money. The official scoring was a draw. We even.Let me see the fight and reevaluate.
I get that. Reread.there is no way i'll take your money. The official scoring was a draw. We even.
Canelo's punches had zero effect on GGG though. He walked right through them all night long. Didn't look to me like Alvarez has much power at this weith. Whereas GGG clearly made Canelo stop in his tracks a few times. GGG completely commanded the ring after the 3rd round.I could see how people would see it that way, to be honest. Canelo threw with more power. I don't think his punches landed as well as the crowd did, and GGG countered effectively, but I could see how people looking for the big punch would've given a few more rounds to Canelo. He fights a very viewer-friendly style. Sits on the ropes and picks his spots while GGG picks him apart punch-by-punch.
I thought you were taliing about tonight's fight.
So the woman judge scored the rounds 10-2 in favor of Alvarez?Sigh. This sport is so fixed.
Agree completely. Canelo landed a couple as good as he could and it did nothing to GGG.GGG will kill him in the rematch if Canelo doesnt make him wait a year. That tentativeness early is what hurt him. He gave Canelo respect but learned that he couldnt hurt him.
GGG was certainly the aggressor. Canelo has a more flashy style, I think. Don't discount the crowd at his back too....when he lands, the crowd goes wild, much moreso than GGG.I'm not sure i agree with any of this. GGG was the aggressor with more power.
If ggg just got hosed and canelo won, I would not take payment if I won.there is no way i'll take your money. The official scoring was a draw. We even.
so ridiculous. even though i think GGG won for sure i can buy the 115-113 or 114-114 score. 118-110 is just a complete joke and that judge should never work again.118-110 lady needs to go work in a high school cafeteria or something. Joke.
She'd give one kid 14 cheeseburgers and the next 1 chicken nugget.118-110 lady needs to go work in a high school cafeteria or something. Joke.
I agree with you. I scored it 116-112 GGG and it wasn't really close. Gave 2, 3, 12, and one of the mid-rounds to Canelo. Otherwise GGG owned the ring.Canelo's punches had zero effect on GGG though. He walked right through them all night long. Didn't look to me like Alvarez has much power at this weith. Whereas GGG clearly made Canelo stop in his tracks a few times. that's part of boxing though, it's a shady sport and we have to live with the decisions when we bet.If ggg just got hosed and canelo won, I would not take payment if I won.

I get that but it is so bad for business and for gamblers.that's part of boxing though, it's a shady sport and we have to live with the decisions when we bet.
boxing scoring is on par with figure skating. No idea why boxing keeps shooting themselves in the foot. the 118-110 judge could have at least made it reasonable and still had Canelo winning. With how much is on the line economically, I think judges should face criminal charges when they're that ridiculous. They should have to go to court and defend the score card. If they can't, they should go to jail unless they pay restitution to everyone they screwed.
I understand but in the end, the voting is subjective. No way to make it a criminal charge. With how much is on the line economically, I think judges should face criminal charges when they're that ridiculous. They should have to go to court and defend the score card. If they can't, they should go to jail unless they pay restitution to everyone they screwed.
That's a very good point. As I stated earlier--I'm not boxing expert--but I thought that GGG was the better fighter for most of the fight. However--Canelo did finish strong and did land a lot of power punches. I don't think it would have been super egregious if a judge had Canelo winning by a couple points--which still would have ended in a draw--I just don't know how anybody could have watched that fight and had Canelo winning 118-110. I personally enjoyed the fight enough to be suckered into buying a rematch.boxing scoring is on par with figure skating. BS...their have been terrible decisions by male judges throughout boxing historyWomen in general do not understand sports at a high level. They are more interested in which guy they like more.
Its their tiny woman brains. Its science.Women in general do not understand sports at a high level. They are more interested in which guy they like more.
yes, great fight and overall i can't complain about it ending in a draw. That one judge just gave no f's about being obvious. That's a very good point. Alvarez had a rematch clause in the contract...there would be a rematch even if they had scored the fight correctly.I realize that wimmens scorecard was ridiculous, and IMO GGG won the fight by a close enough margin where it shouldnt be a draw, but yinz that are #####ing about the scorecard, #### being fixed, etc can go.
I think GGG won that fight but ill be damned if i wasnt hoping for a rematch. Some of you should high five that judge lol
and everyone knew the judges were likely to favor Canelo. Just funny to see one of them be so blatant.Alvarez had a rematch clause in the contract...there would be a rematch even if they had scored the fight correctly.
He is and I am highly pleased and entertained.Teddy is seriously pissed
C.J. Ross retired right after giving that score. My guess is that Byrd will do the same.Much less controversial scoring than Canelo getting a 114-114 on one scorecard vs Mayweather.
I was venting/joking about the criminal charges thing, guys, but appreciate the replies. As to the quote, I was pretty miffed at that too, but it didn't change the outcome. Earlier today I mentioned liking Golovkin a good bit more than Alvarez. There's no real reason to dislike Canelo other than the judges seem to be slanted his way. "He's cute. He must have won that round."Much less controversial scoring than Canelo getting a 114-114 on one scorecard vs Mayweather.
yep. i don't think anyone is livid about the draw, both of them came to fight and it was competitive. The main post fight problem is the moronic judge who scored it 118-110.So I had a bunch of drinks, etc. Several people ended up my house to watch the fight. Opinions were very mixed. I thought Canelo did well but was too small. GGG had the size to wear Canelo down. As for rounds, I didn't keep score but people here have it scored every which way.
She's getting sued for what she said about the ESPN chick getting fired.Teddy is seriously pissed
I agree that I don't see it 118-110 but remember a fight could be very close and still be scored 118-110.yep. i don't think anyone is livid about the draw, both of them came to fight and it was competitive. The main post fight problem is the moronic judge who scored it 118-110.
I had GGG 8-4 or 7-5, but a lot of rounds were close...but there were at least 4 rounds where GGG 100% won, so the 118-110 score just makes boxing look really bad. Shows at least one judge was trying to fix it.
sorry, there is zero justification for Canelo winning 118-110 in this fight. In certain fights where rounds are super close i could see it, but not in this one. Nobody with a brain could have given Canelo 10 rounds.I agree that I don't see it 118-110 but remember a fight could be very close and still be scored 118-110.
