**** Official - The Big Bang Theory thread **** (2 Viewers)

I went to go buy season 2 on dvd today (it came out yesterday). Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart, and K-Mart were all sold out already. I couldn't believe it sold out so quick. I will just have to order this online.

Wife and I laugh all the time at this show, perfect Monday Night 30 minute sitcom. Wife likes all the shows after but not so much for me.

Penny is drop dead gorgeous and they do a great job of showing off her assets.

One drawback is the lead male character Leonard played by Galecki from the Roseanne show. In real life he is a screaming queen so for me it is always tough to watch him drool over Penny when in reality he isn't that way at all. And I think he coems across too wimpy. I know he's a tech geek on the show but he gives off the queer vibe so it takes away from any realism in their relationship.

Paper/Rock/Scissors/Lizard/Spock is about the funniest line I have heard on a sitcom for awhile. The episode where Penny gives Sheldon the Leonard Nimoy napkin is priceless.

Sheldon is the funniest character in the show but Howard and Raj are also very funny.

Kaley Cuoco though is just smokin' on that show.
So that is probably why you don't like "How I Met Your Mother"? Doogie Howser is playing the complete opposite of his real persona.
No doubt, it was a funny little bit in H&K, but every week on HIMYM, again the wife loves that show but I can't watch it.
Same with the Bulldog in Frasier. The actor was gay and played a womanizer. Will and Jack from Will and Grace weren't gay.Newsflash: It's called ACTing.
Neil Patrick Harris? How I met Your Mother?

Watched my first episode ever last night - friend told me to watch The Barbarian Sublimation - entertaining, and definitely liking the cleavage factor here. Worthwhile to go back and watch from the get go?

Absolutely. It's a great show.

This season has been pretty good so far but tonight's episode was gold. Sheldon deserves an award and the writers deserve something. This show has gotten better since day one.

 Jim Parsons was just amazing in the scene where Kaley asked him to comfort her.
 Last night's was one of the best.

A little over the top on the "special" cookies...but still very funny.

and yes...Parson is great. His mannerisms are just hilarious.

Soft kitty, warm kitty,

little ball of fur...

That's Penny singing it to Sheldon, but the reverse last night, while sung in the round, was hilarious.

I hate my name...it contains the word "nerd".

Len---nerd.

In fact the whole premise of Leonard, Raj and Howard, stoned from eating pot laced cookies and with the muchies in the middle of the desert was totally hilarious. "Couple of middle school teachers in tie dyed Dead tee-shirts and a VW Micro-bus. they gave me these cookies"

Some girls pull off the "hair up" thing but Penny has been looking horrible on the show with some of the hair styles they put her in. Maybe that is intentional though but Penny looks great with a pony tail and her hair down. Also, like Sheldon said last night, she did look a little puffy and has looked a little puffy lately. Hope we are not seeing her gain much more weight.

I wish my name was Angelo. It has both angel and jello. they can call me Angie.

Fully agreed. I'm guessing that they have been trying to ugly her up a bit. Especially this week's episode, as she was supposed to have just come from taken an interrupted shower, with no primping time. Hopefully future episodes will need her to be "hotted-up" again.

The download of the show was 18:55 minutes long. Nearly all "30" minute shows are 20:xx - 21:xx in length for the .avi files. To have a show that is/was almost two minutes shorter is really odd. Not sure if I missed some of the show, it does not feel like it, or if they really went short for this one. I hope this does not continue.

Still a funny show but the Penny/Leonard relationship is hurting it.
I'm a little torn about the Penny/Leonard relationship. On the one hand, it does change a dynamic that worked and the anticipation of "can one of the geeks ever land the hot neighbor" aspect has now been removed. On the other hand, it can add some humor. The geek/hot chick relationship can be interesting and funny. The football/kite-flying episode a while back was funny and last night's "I'm sitting right here" scenes were pretty funny.

The "will they or won't they" dynamic of opposite characters that are attracted to each other is as old as TV sit coms. Think about "Cheers" with Sam and Diane and then Sam and Rebecca or "Friends" with Ross and Rachel or even Monica and Chandler. Hell, it was the whole premise of "Moonlighting." The twist of Big Bang is that Chuck Lorre has actually put them together in a fairly natural and non-dramatic way. No big build-up, just a normal progression of a relationship. Leonard seems like a typical guy who can't believe that he's actually landed the "girl of his dreams", which sort of is an nice juxtaposition to the Howard in the tub with his fantasy girl scenes of last night.

Did it include the final scene with Howard singing at the Cheesecake Factory? It could just slightly compressed. When recording to DVDs, I often cram more shows than should go on to a DVD without a significant loss of quality.
