***OFFICIAL*** The Shield - Season 7 (1 Viewer)

I still have the Shield #1 or 2 with Breaking Bad for best show I ever saw. Loved the Wire but as good as that was, the show never pulled me in like these other two. Game of Thrones and Mad Men round out my top 5.

Was looking on Youtube, the Shield has very few of the great scenes up there. The Ronnie explosion and his subsequent funeral are scenes that I remember really grabbing at me emotionally. Forest Whitaker was amazing in the season he played the good cop gone bad. That wasnt just creating a bad guy for the sake of television, we saw him become obsessed with going all out to put a dirty cop like Vic off the streets that he didnt care going the dirty route. Dont think he got any awards or anything for that role, but it was great to watch.

Slipknot and What Power is.... were fantastic. Show just keeps finding another gear.

Aceveda obviously takes center stage, and both the first and second big fractures in the Strike Team happen.

Mara officially becomes a problem (or more importantly, Shane making it clear his allegiances are officially split) and Lem's conscience hits a new level by condemning an innocent man to getting his feet chopped off.

Even with all that, I think Claudette's the real unheralded star of this show. She's just amazing. Her relationship with Dutch is obviously great (loved the delivery of "worse"), but the show just wouldn't be the same without her interactions and contrasting with Vic.

Another interesting thing about Claudette....in the landscape of great dramas, women that oppose the anti-hero male protagonist are almost always soundly hated. Whatever the reason for that is, I don't know, but Claudette is a huge exception to what seems like a rule. Total pro of an actor and a great character.

I don't think you can go wrong with those 3 in any order. I don't think I could ever take Wire out of the 1 spot, but I certainly wouldn't argue against putting Shield or BB up there instead.

Watched the entire series for the first time over the last 2 months. Glad I did, good stuff. Not in the same league as "The Wire" but still a great run. Hot chick rankings from the 7 seasons: 1) Officer Tina 2) Girl that "used" Shane in the interrogation room 3) Dina the car thief 4) Vic's lawyer 5) Corpse dog chick 6) Guardo's girlfriend the stirke team kidnapped 7) Aceveda's call girl 8) ICE Agent Olivia 9) Mara 10) Aceveda's wife 11) Kavanaugh's crazy ex-wife 12) Kesakhian's daughter 13) Danni 14) Corrine 15) Claudette
Bump for all the recent talk of hot chicks on the show.

I'm only about halfway through my re-watch, so I couldn't do a proper list.

But (like Kristen Bell), I had no idea who Natalie Zea was during the first watch. I was pretty excited to see her with dogs (odd she used two different dogs, btw, first a Shepherd, then a Rottie).

Anyway, I don't know what the list will look like, but Zea will be first. Zea is always first.

Tulips and Dina the car thief will be up there too.

Wow, what a finale to Season 2 and a powerful scene to end it. I loved Vic's excitement coming to meet the rest of the Strike Team that quickly faded to match the rest of the team's "oh ####, what do we do now?" demeanor.

That pile of cash was another similarity with Breaking Bad. Both moments represent the last major heist and beginning of the free fall towards total annihilation.
I don't remember which season it was to start, but the commercials with shots of the cash to the music of Johnny Cash's Hurt was one of the best teaser commercials of all time.

Watching the last few episodes. When Vic starts admitting all the #### he did so he gets the immunity deal with the Feds, the ICE agent asks "Anything else?" Vic points to the recorder and says, "How much memory does that thing got?"

:lmao:

Love this show.

Love this show.
The agent, of course, went on to play Andrea on The Walking Dead. She also played the Russian baddie on the X-Files.

Three of my favorite shows.

Great show. Thinking of giving it a third (fourth?) run through after seeing this thread.

What service are you watching on? Netflix, Amazon...Other?
it is a great show. kind of a precursor, imo, to "Breaking Bad" with the character development and arc. much more so than, say, "Sopranos" in that regard.

I hadn't watched this program since it originally aired.  I spent the last few weeks binge watching the entire series on Hulu.

I remember thinking originally it was a bit outrageous how Vic always managed to slip out of trouble and wasn't sure how the series would have held up over the years. As it turned out IMHO it held up great, and I think I actually enjoyed it more while bingeing it to see every episode right after one another.  You sort of realize that Vic isn't actually getting away with anything, but you can see the noose tightening around his neck slowly but surely all the way through.

Also, the characters of Dutch and Claudette are really a pair of the most underrated in all time police drama television history. Really great!

Finished binge watching again.
At the end, Ronnie Gardocki "You're GD Sorry?"
That was so intense and (after having seen it) funny too. Like how a kid saying sorry excuses everything.

Great duo.
I think Dutch is a spin on Munch from Homicide and SVU.

Nicki Micheaux (decoy squad) was underrated too. Probably a bad choice to move on from her character and not at least give her a recurring role.
