***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread***

I don't know how they don't starve to death. Daryl Dixon is only one who knows how to hunt. Canned goods must be running out. They can't stay at the prison too long because food supplies will just run out. They should head for the coast and start learning to fish. Plus it would be interesting to see zombies handle swimming.
Herschel is a farmer.

In the new EW magazine, they have pics of Rick near a pen full of pigs and they talk about having gardens.
I still couldn't do it. Having to have 24 hour watches to prevent getting overrun by walkers. I'd have to find a boat and an island eventually. Preferably sooner than later before the best islands all become spoken for.

They had stores of food, Hershell is a farmer, Daryl is a hunter and everyone else scavenges. Food isn't really the biggest of their problems.

If it were me I'd have to get a big boat and hit the open ocean. Much less stressful since you don't always have to worry about waking up with a zombie chewing your face off. I'd sleep on the boat every night, only come to shore if I had to.
You still have to worry about it a bit unless you're alone on the boat. People die.

Less then One Month from the premiere :excited:

In other "related" news:

AMC announced Monday that it is in the early stages of developing a Walking Dead “companion series” — aka spinoff — to launch in 2015. Full release below.

AMC announced today that the network is in the initial stages of developing a companion series to its original drama series The Walking Dead, which premiered on AMC in October of 2010. The Walking Dead is currently the #1 show on television among adults 18-49. Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert are on board as executive producers, with AMC Studios set to produce. The companion series has a target on-air date of 2015.
If they are smart they start the companion season a week or two after Walking Dead ends.. Year round Zombie Killing..

I'm all for another series. I think it would be pretty cool to see two different vantage points, maybe even one more like the CDC type guys, someone who has some resources to actually try and figure this out.

Or, to go more towards the gladiator reality show, it would be kind of cool to focus in on different groups and see if they make it and if they don't watch those people as walkers meander to another group and see how that group is dealing with things. If they didn't advertise it as see a new set of deaths every 4 weeks, it could be a cool show to watch the main actors shockingly all get killed in week 5.

Jon Bernthal, the guy that played Shane in this series was killed off because he was to be the lead in some other series. I haven't heard anything about it. Has it started yet? Just curious.

He is in an upcoming tv series from Frank Darabount called Mob City on TNT. Pilot was shot last year.

I think Bernthal was cast as the lead in the pilot, but I don't think he is the lead in the series proper as he is credited with only 3 of the 6 episodes where as other cast members are credited with all 6 episodes.

Yahoo's got a pretty good write up on their ides for the spin off show. Be aware, they claim there are possible Spoilers there..

1. Tank Soldier .... The new spin-off could have that same documentary-style as it chronicles different factions of the military, police force and U.S. government in the days immediately after the outbreak...

2. Centers for Disease Control... The series could flash back to Dr. Edwin Jenner's (Noah Emmerich) quest to find a cure, as well as the other CDCs across the nation and even the world. Maybe then we'll finally learn what caused the zombie outbreak.

3. Morgan.. The spin-off could go even further back to before his wife turned into a walker and it could eventually show how his son Duane died.

4. Michonne:

5. An anthology series - Each season would tell the backstory of a different character during the immediate aftermath of the zombie outbreak who eventually died.... There's also a whole story to be told about Merle (Michael Rooker)'s whereabouts after he chopped his hand off. What about the team of military men in the helicopter?

6.

Negan( from the comics and not introduced in the show.. yet
Of those I like the first one as they could go the path of World Z.. Or #5

2 and 5 were what I was thinking. 6 is a ??? to me, so no idea on that one. 3 and 4 aren't needed and don't seem that good. Also, I really don't want to see Merle in 5. Other than his "escape," he probably stayed pretty low under the radar and eventually ended up in Woodbury. It probably took him a while to really become part of the Gov's inner circle, so I don't think there would be much there. I'd rather have a completely different set of stories. There is so much of the world we haven't seen, I think they could make great shows from just showing different groups in different situations, some of whom survive and some of whom do not. I still really like my idea of the people who die in the show turning into zombies and "introducing" our next group that we follow.

ETA: I don't really like the WWZ aspect of 1, unless they started with a reporter/first responder crew as the first set of people in 5. I think that could be pretty cool to see how it starts. Pretty sure that wasn't in the comics, so that could be some real creative stuff where we wouldn't have to worry about the comics at all. You could introduce some folks from 1 and 2, i.e. military and CDC experts and see stuff spiral out of control.

I think with all the complaints about the World War Z movie, they could make a killing on the :moneybag: by taking this successful show and implement a World War Z documentary type show as a companion..

Kirkman has always said he won't get into what caused the outbreak, or the science of it, or a cure or any of that. I'd be disappointed if his second show centered around that.

Then again, it has to be different from TWD.

I absolutely love this idea. Similar to the chapters in WWZ, just do one off episodes with different characters each week. Sort of like The Twilight Zone for people that haven't read WWZ. It doesn't have to flow through like WWZ, it could just be single unique stories all throughout the outbreak. Some of them are about the beginning of the outbreak, some are with it in full swing. Some of them are about big groups or towns, some of them could have a single character.

It would open the door for a lot of unique stories and unique ideas. I would personally love an episode with only a single survivor and no dialog the entire episode.

I'm sad because I know this will never happen.

I am re-reading the comics now. This happens in issue 15.

Glenn is completely shaved but not Maggie. Her hair is just cut short, like when Emma Watson cut her hair short a few years ago.

I guess my memory of it is a bit foggy. Anyway, that's what I meant.

I have no interest in the spin-off to be honest. I may check out the first episode or maybe DVR it and if word of mouth is positive then check it out.

2015 continues to be a big year for genre fans. Not only will it bring a new Star Wars movie, a secondAvengers film and the much-discussed debut of Ben Affleck as Batman in the still-unnamed sequel toMan of Steel, but this morning AMC announced that it’ll also be the year when The Walking Dead spins off a brand-new television series set in the same post-apocalyptic world.

The cable channel revealed today that it is in “the initial stages of developing a companion series” to its hyper-successful adaptation of the long-running Image Comics series co-created and written by Robert Kirkman about a group of human survivors in a world filled with the undead. Kirkman is part of the group developing the spinoff, acting as executive producer on the project alongside Walking Deadexecs Gail Anne Hurd and David Alpert.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of The Walking Deaduniverse,” said Kirkman in a statement included the network’s announcement, adding that “the opportunity to make a show that isn’t tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing.” AMC president Charlie Collier promised that the show would feature “an entirely new story and cast of characters,” while offering “another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse.”

Today’s news is another example of AMC strengthening its core offerings; last week, the channel announced Better Call Saul, a prequel spinoff from Breaking Bad focusing on popular character Saul Goodman as the original series winds down to its finale. Given the 2015 premiere date for the Walking Dead spinoff, it’s possible that the network is planning for this second zombie series to ultimately replace Dead in the same way that Saul will replace Breaking Bad, which ends in two weeks.

Anyway to get the books on my Nook?
Are you interested in the comics or the novels? Check this thread, we were collecting them for a while here for people to download. The comics are up to #114 now, so that thread is missing the latest few issues.http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=631900
I didnt realize they had novels as well as comics...all the same story I'm assuming?
The three novels (2 released, 1 to still come) focus on the character of the Governor from the start of the epidemic. I am reading the first novel now and it is very good. It works better though if you read the comics first (the order is given in that other thread).

The names are:

The Walking Dead: The Rise of the Governor

The Walking Dead: The Road to Woodberry

The Walking Dead: The Fall of the Governor

I apologize but youre going to have to talk to me like I'm stupid with this...

They have comics that are the same as the books or not? I tried to Wiki this and think I got myself evem more confused between the comics, hardcover books and the novels.

Comics have been released in a ton of different form factors but all contain the same base material.

1) Individual comic books numbered 1 through 114

2) In trade paperbacks which combine six comic issues at a time (there are 18 of these released to date)

3) In hard cover books, which combine 12 issues at a time (there are 9 of these released to date)

4) In hard cover omni bus editions, which combine 24 issues at a time (there have been 4 of these released to date)

5) In soft cover compendium books, which cover 48 issues at a time (this weighs a ton. There are two of these released)

All 5 above are the exact same material, just released in different sizes

Outside of these comics, are the 3 novels I explained in my previous post. The novels are not comics, they are full no picture written novels.

Here is an amazon link for one example of each of the 5 form factors above plus a link for one of the novels. It is very hard to find issue #1 as you can see from the ebay sale link below.

1) Individual Comic Book: http://www.ebay.com/itm/THE-WALKING-DEAD-ISSUE-1-First-Print-CGC-/171137429230

2) Trade Paper Back: http://www.amazon.com/The-Walking-Dead-Vol-Days/dp/1582406723

3) Hard cover: http://www.amazon.com/Walking-Dead-Book-One/dp/1582406197

4) Ominbus: http://www.amazon.com/Walking-Dead-Omnibus-3/dp/1607063301

5) Compendium: http://www.amazon.com/Walking-Dead-Compendium-One/dp/1607060760

6) Novel: http://www.amazon.com/Walking-Dead-Rise-Governor/dp/1250039649

The most popular form people buy is the trade paperbacks. In the other thread we have all of the individual comics stored online that you can read on your nook from #1 to #106 if that is what you would prefer.

Let me know if this helps at all.

You are welcome.

If you are going to read on kindle, just use the other thread where we stored all of the .cbr/cbz files. Those should work fine on the kindle. If any of the links have gone stale, shoot me a pm.

So I downloaded all the files and tried to add them to the Nook and it said the file want compatible.

So I unzipped the file and they were all CBR/CBZ and the Nook still said they were compatible. What's my next move?

I don't own a nook but on the ipad I had to get an app to read the cbr/cbz files. You will have to research that step for yourself for the nook. I do know people who read comics on nook so you should be able to do this.

If I remember correctly, I added the files on that thread in cbr or cbz form. You should not need to ever unzip them. Just get an app and let it read the files directly.
