*OFFICIAL* Thread: WIS X and the Cluster of Sim (2 Viewers)

I can't get over how bad my walk rates are. Just horrid.
The engine adjustments seems to overrate walks wildly ... even more than it used to. Barry Bonds may be hitting .147, but he's still getting on base at a .532 clip.Harrier's theory about selling out batting average to get a bunch of walk-freaks in his batting lineup would work a lot better in the sim as it is now.
I agree. Walks have become stupid in this thing. If I guy has a nice 2.25 walk rate - ok, not 1.19 or something, but better than decent - he should not end up with a 1.65 WHIP cause everyone freakin' walks.

Trying to get a ticket to the Twins/Yanks in NY on the 22nd, and the only thing availabe are the $325 seats. What gives? Like this for every game this year? All years? What a suck.

Check out stubhubhttp://www.stubhub.com/new-york-yankees-ti...22-2008-511051/

Can usually get decent tix at not awful prices for regular games there

i.e. the sec 604 tix for $70/each are very good seats, excellent panoramic view of the stadium
Thanks, will check it out. How hard is it to get to the stadium and back from Paramus, NJ?

Via driving or via public transportation? Also, if you are going to buy from stubhub, check the net for discount codes

There are usually some floating around for 10% off or so, which essentially negates the StubHub "fee"

I could do either, if there is public transport that will get me from there to the stadium and back. I hear taking a taxi back is a tough proposition.

If possible, driving would likely be best for youParamus is only like 10 miles away from Yankee Stadium, due North West

I am not sure, but I think almost all of the public transportation options would take you south into midtown Manhattan (penn or Port Authority) and then you'd have to go north to Yankee Stadium on the subway

Car will be MUCH faster

I've checked out public transportation, and it looks like you're right. Not only would it take me forever, but my two late options back from the Seacaucus Terminal to Paramus are 10:30pm or 12:53 am - no good either way. How is traffic coming out of there after a game? I'm imagining pretty brutal, but a cab would be worse and much more expensive.

It really depends on where you parkYou generally don't want to get stuck in the multi-level parking lots, as you get stuck there forever after the game

My dad refuses to take public transportation to the games when we go

We park at a lot directly across from the big bat

Outdoor lot, we tell them we're leaving early, they give us a spot close to the exit

Then we pretty much pull out and on to the highway on ramp

Lot's approx address on google street view is 6 E 153rd Street

Thanks TU

A couple of co-workers have now told me not to drive to Yankee Stadium because you don't want to walk around the stadium by yourself. Idiot midwestern paranoia or legitimate worry?

Yankee stadium on game day is probably one of the 5 safest places on the planetThere will be 50,000 people and tons of cops aroundTotally and completely safe

Live anyone?

And I believe you can view standings if you have a WIS account but have no idea how. And I could be wrong to begin with.

Big :finger: to whoever put me in the same division as Sparty, RnR, and Koya so someone else can make the playoffs besides the usual suspects. I'm pretty pissed about that.

crushing back-to-back, walk-off losses to Hoos, courtesy of Bruce Sutter, as the dihigos continue their fade. Bill Terry has been killing us.

p.s. how come pitchers aren't tired after they start a game? at least mine aren't. maybe i should just pitch Kid Nichols until his arm falls off.

Christy Mathewson had that same effect, but now he gets tired after games. I still pitch him almost every other game, though.

The old guys -- the ones that pitched 400+ innings or so -- would probably have to pitch consecutive games to show fatigue.

I dont think I have ever had this offensive oriented a team in any of the 10 sims. Even considering my ballpark that's the case (I have had some pretty offense favorable parks before, fenway etc).

Oddly, a couple of my pitchers are actually considerably better at home, which is weird... though overall pitching is a total crapshoot here. You'd think 900 innings of 1.05, 1.01 and .99 WHIP, all with good HR numbers and other plus numbers, would be solid.

Think again.

Agreed. Mathewson has been Dr Jeckyll/Mr Hyde this year, at times looking brilliant and others looking like he's throwing batting practice. Unit has for the most part been fairly good, although his HR rate is maddening. Hippo freaking Vaughn has the best ERA of my staff.....at 4.30. :lmao:My bullpen is absolutely deplorable. In an effort to make myself smile about their sad state, I'm going to recreate a scene from Animal House:Dean Wormer: Mr. Fernandez, you have a 4.71 ERA. Congratulations Sid, You're at the top of the Tosche Station bullpen. Mister Radatz?**** Radatz: Hello!Dean Wormer: Five Point Sixty-three. Fat, ineffective, and stupid is no way to go through life, son. Mister Smith, closer of the Power Converters? 5.68 ERA and a OAV of .370. FINE example you set! Norm Charlton....HAS no ERA. All pitches ineffective. Mister Her....MISTER HERNANDEZ....TEN. POINT. SIXTY-SIX.Lee Smith: Well, sir, we're hoping the acquisition of Mike Timlin will really help our ERA!Norm Charlton: HA!Ok, I spliced those last two sentences in there, but you get the drift. My bullpen is comically bad.

Pitching is getting killed this go round. Walk an HR numbers seem much higher than usual.

I know this is a bit :wolf: -ish of me, but I really wonder if there's a glitch or something that's causing these ridiculous walk rates.

Lee Smith can ####### die. Guy can't protect a 3 run lead in the 9th if his left nut was riding on it.

####### bull####.

I guess this is where everyone comes to complain. :goodposting: I agree walks are out of control, but I knew my teams would have an issue so I am okay with it. The one I can not explain is Johnny Pesky has 11 errors in 20 games. He is a B+/A- and had only had 25 errors in the entire season in '46.
