Weather report could be a good thing for the Rookie lead Vikings:

Low: 32°F RealFeel®: 23°F

Plenty of clouds with a little rain; breezy

Winds: ENE at 12mph

Wind Gusts: 23 mph

Passing stats could be down and we all know the weakness of the Vikings Defense.

Still think Childress should have put Jackson in there two weeks ago vs. the crappy Lions or at least give him his first start at home instead of throwing him in at Green Bay.

Do you think either QB is a good start for this game? I have both Farve and Jackson in seperate leagues and am contemplating starting them, but not if freezing rain is in the forcast.

Jackson should have started the first Lions game. ;)

Here's one Favre starter (10:00pm deadline) who is hoping that he captures lightning in a bottle for what just might be his last start at Lambeau...If not for his career, at least for this season.

He's been known to rise to the occasion before.

:fingerscrossed: :ptts:

:helleverythingcrossed: :lmao:

It doesn't get more balanced than this:

Balanced rivalry: The clubs have split 91 overall meetings (45-45-1), including the Vikings' victory in the lone postseason contest (2004 NFC Wild Card).
THAT'S A Rivalry folks.

I was really hoping for better weather! I have Favre starting but I also have Leinart... Now I don't know if Favre is the better choice. Hmmm...... But with the treat of this being his last game at home, I almost feel like I have to start him.

both defenses look pretty good for tonight, with the weather only helping out as well. the vikes usually provide lots of defensive points even with a seive of a secondary -- and the pack has really come on with sacks and take-aways recently (too bad they give up so many points).

flip of a coin on which one to use?

I'm starting Favre and the Packers Defense in my local leagues Super Bowl.

I need 2 INTs and say, less than 10 points and 225 total yards from the defense, and I need Favre to just get me 1 TD and no INT's

Yes, thats conservative hoping, because Favre can be a 3-4 INT machine at times. I believe in the Packers defense tonight though.

I'm worred about starting Driver, so I pulled his splits from Yahoo.com for the last three years:

Frigid/Cold (< 40): 76.1 yards per game, 7 TDs in 11 games (0.6/game)

Windy: 68.1 yards per game, 4 TDs in 15 games (0.3/game)

(Not sure how Yahoo defines "windy.")

So wind appears to be a bigger concern than the temperature.

What is it with Thursday night football and foul weather this year? :goodposting:
Makes the games interesting at least.Who in their right mind, except Viking & Packer fans( which we all know are either :lmao: , :lmao: or both :lmao: ) would want to watch a match-up of two 6-8 teams?

Do any of you think that Tavaris Jackson might actually have a big game? I was wondering if not having much film on the guy might keep the Pack from dominating as you would normally expect against a rookie...

Found this on Pro Fantasy Sports........thought it was interesting info on Jackson for what its worth................Jackson will start in less than desirable conditions for tonight’s NFL Network Thursday Night Game of the Week. The team had a short week of practice – is on the road at Lambeau Field under the lights – and faces a Packer team on a two-game winning streak. Jackson doesn’t believe the short week of preparation will be a deterrent to success. "You might think so but it’s not because it is less to think about," he said. "You don’t have that much time to actually think, OK, I’m starting the game." While the rookies answer is encouraging, preparation is everything in the NFL, and not even talent can overcome detailed preparation. Jackson, a second-round draft pick from Alabama State has a stronger arm and is more mobile than Johnson, but his inexperience will show in his first NFL start, especially in a road game at Lambeau with less than a full week practice. His lack of game experience running the complicated Childress offense is not what the doctor ordered and the change at quarterback in Minnesota screams volumes about Johnson's current value within the Vikings organization. Jackson has exclusively operated as the scout team signal caller this season, excluding his limited practice reps last week and the one day of first team work heading into tonight's game. Working as the general of the scout team is nothing more than simulating opposing offensive schemes against the first team defense. The Childress West Coast offense is a complicated playbook and difficult to master. This is additional argument justifying conventional wisdom that the anemic offense of the Vikings will continue to struggle tonight in Green Bay even with the quarterback switch. The conditions for tonight’s game call for a slight chance of showers, 36°F at kickoff but feels like 29°F. Probability of precipitation is 30% with winds from east northeast at 10 mph. All things being equal, these are favorable conditions for Lambeau Field in late December, especially for Packers Hall of Fame

I am forced to start Greg Jennings in a semifinal matchup in a money league tonight....not happy about it, but it gives me some interest in the game.

Yeah, that's the only bad thing about Thursday night games. Sometimes, you're forced to make a decision. I'm starting Farve over Vick this week just because I don't know how sore Vick's going to be for Sunday.

I like Tarvaris Jackson, and I think he's the future for the Vikings.

This sloppy track won't do much for his passing exploits, but I expect him to do his best Daunte Culpepper / Michael Vick impression with running the ball.

Look for short passes to M. Moore and C. Taylor, along with underneath routes to Troy Williamson. He threw a number of shorter passes last week (5 to Moore) and I also like Wiggins to contribute.

Jackson is a cocky young guy, but in a good way. Strong self confidence, and Adam Schefter reports that he views this start as a "Christmas Gift" to himself. I like that.

i have to go to a stupid christmas party for work, but i think i have to start driver. he is a stud. i'm going with hous, driver, and colston this week as holt takes the pine for once. $900 decision......

go pack! light em up favre and driver!

Have a  and check back later to see that Favre and DD went off.At least I hope!

Favre or Grossman......................... I hate Thursday games.
Grossman may be sitting after the 2nd Qtr.
Grossman also said this:"I think it's important for our whole team to end on a high note and get some momentum," said quarterback Rex Grossman, named the NFC offensive player of the week after going 29-for-44 for 339 yards and two touchdowns against the Bucs. "I expect to play the whole game the next two weeks. We want to do everything we can to be ready for that first playoff game.So flip a coin I guess. lol

From Weather Underground.com, updated 3:45 pm CST:

Tonight

Occasional light rain mixed at times with sleet this evening...diminishing to drizzle overnight. Areas of fog after midnight. Lows in the mid 30s. East wind around 10 mph.

I'm still starting Driver. GB will not be able to run against the Vikes.

I am in the same boat as you with Vick + Favre in one league and Vick + Leinart in the other. I am going with Vick in both.

I think I'll pulling the Favre trigger one more time. I will either be the happiest person in this thread, or saddest.

We'll know in a few hours. Right now, I'm putting away my Giants blue, rolling up the Simms jersey and pulling the Favre 4 over my head. I may take a Vicodin or two to really get into it.

Keep it coming TF. Good post.

Packers offense looks solid in the early going. Favre looks locked in, Driver looks good, Ahman moving with fluidity.

How was that not pass interference?
I think what the referee was saying is that it wasn't pass interference because the receiver was behind the line of scrimmage. I'm not sure of the exact rule; I wish he would have repeated himself after finally getting his mic turned on.

Collinsworth on top of it.

Have to admit. I'm warming up to him. Gumble should be an extra in Eric Cartman's Christmas story, but Chris is doing a good job.

Happy with the Green Bay movement on offense so far. Hope it keeps going.

You are right. Chris Col. just said the same as you did
