***OFFICIAL TRADE RUMORS MASTER THREAD*** (1 Viewer)

There have been intermittent rumors about the Red Sox trading Coco Crisp to make room for Ellsbury in CF. Also, they may look to move Kyle Snyder at some point as well.
Keeper League alert for you keeper leaguer's. And likely enough stolen bases to make him a mixed league pick up in any size league.Great head's up here, thanks. I've been watching his progress all season. SLG % is very low at AAA but otherwise he looks to be a very solid roto guy.
While not a trade rumor directly, it will impact when/if the Sox look to move Snyder or Tavarez (based on what they can get in return)... there is a chance that the Sox will call up Clay Buchholz before Lester - it all depends on when Lester will be ready. Buchholz has been tearing it up in AA this year. Even if Lester gets the call first, Buchholz should be ready towards the end of the season. Tons of teams have inquired about him in trade talks but the Sox haven't been willing to move him.

Giants have starting pitching coming out of their ears. What kind of bat do you guys think they could get for Matt Morris or Noah Lowry, both of whom are having very nice years so far?
Do you really think they would move Lowry? A 27 year old left hander that looks like he's starting to figure it out? He's signed through 09 pretty cheap, 1.15 in 07, 2.25 in 08, and 4.5 in 09. The Giants have a 6.25 option 10.I could understand moving Morris, a resurgent year, he has post season experience, a bigger contract, and he's much older.
I think their preference would be to keep Lowry, but I bet he'd be available in the right deal. Right now, the Giants are loaded with young pitching but have no youngish position players worth mentioning. If they could get a studly young outfielder or third baseman, he'd be available.

Texeria to anyone for anything right now.

Pitching, OF, warm bodies, a new GM. Please get rid of this guy.

Sounds like you want to just give him away. What's the reason for that?
Fans don't really like the guy. He vanishes for weeks at a time. Never shown any leadership and is prone to the numbers first hitting style of AROD and others. Not a guy you can really build a team around. And Texas has holes at all three OF and all 5 SP spots. He's up for a new contract in two years and there won't be a single fan jumping up and down to resign this guy.

Gotcha! Thanks for the info, always good to hear a fans perspective without being able to be that close to the situation.

Lowell to Minny and Tex to Boston :( ;

Per Rotoworld:

The Minneapolis Star Tribune suggests that the Twins could be interested in acquiring Mike Lowell.

The newspaper reports that "it's believed the Red Sox would be willing to eat a chunk of" Lowell's salary and adds that "there are some whispers that Boston would like to move Kevin Youkilis to third base and go after the Texas Rangers' Mark Teixeira."

I do not have a link for this, but I heard Gammons on the Dan Patrick show this afternoon. Dan asked him if Adam Dunn would be traded. He said most likely not. Dunn has 2 option years left on his contract at $13 million per year, and, if he gets traded, can opt to be a free agent at the end of the season. Also, the rumor of him going to the Dodgers has been refuted. The Dodgers believe Dunn is an A.L. player, and does not have a position.

I'd love to see him end up in Baltimore and see if we can finally get a ball off the warehouse in a game.

I will give the White Sox about 2-3 weeks before the bloodletting begins. Team needs to go young but doesn't have much in the minors. Will be interesting to see how Kenny Williams pulls this off.

Yeah this generally worries me since the Sux won't be trading anyone to a divisional opponent meaning teams like the ANgels or Yankees could benefit. It could help get other guys cheaper though. I think the Sux might string some wins together soon and they'll push this idea back. :lmao:

There's a lot of white noise on the Wigginton to the Twins rumors. Not sure what the Rays are looking for in return.

For many years, June 15 was a much-anticipated day on the baseball calendar—the deadline by which teams had to make trades. So in celebration of the old dealing deadline, let’s present the latest rumors from around the major leagues…

Adam Dunn is the name that has taken center stage on the rumor front. Ready to call it quits on a failed season, the Reds are openly shopping Dunn to all interested parties. Those parties include the Angels, who need a first baseman-DH type with some power. But as with most contemporary trade talks, the problem is this: the team looking to unload veteran talent wants way too much in return. The Reds have reportedly asked for three players in return for the "Big Donkey," including right-hander Ervin Santana and at least one other major league player. That has no chance of happening. If the Reds become more realistic about the strikeout prone Dunn, who offers a mixed bag of talent, they can expect two prospects for their miscast left fielder…

The Reds recently scouted a game between the Yankees and Diamondbacks, leading to speculation that Dunn could be headed to the Bronx. In many ways, Dunn is a younger version of the injured Jason Giambi: a hitter heavy on power and walks who is a major defensive liability, even at first base. Given their lofty demands, the Reds will probably ask for Phil Hughes in return, but the Yankees certainly won’t touch that possibility. A more realistic trade might involve a package of Ross Ohlendorf and Chris Britton, with the latter bringing some much-needed relief help to Cincinnati. Britton, a talented right-hander with a good fastball and curve, is currently wasting his abilities at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre. With the Reds, he might just be capable of filling their hole at closer…

While Dunn is almost certain to be traded later this summer, the status of Ken Griffey, Jr. remains questionable. Some within the organization would like to trade Griffey while his value is high, but he has a complete no-trade clause and figures to be very selective wherever he goes. The decision to move Griffey to right field hasn’t hurt his trade value; he’s a much better fit in the corner than in center field, where his declining speed had made him a liability…

Rumors out of Minnesota indicate the Twins would like to make a play for Boston’s Mike Lowell. The Twins badly need a power-hitting third baseman, but the Red Sox can’t be expected to deal Lowell, a free agent at season’s end, until they bring in another cornerman. If the Red Sox can pull off a larger deal for someone like Dunn or Mark Teixeira, they would then move Kevin Youkilis to third, freeing up Lowell for a trade. Either way, Lowell is likely to test the free agent market this winter, and given the usual scarcity of third basemen, should find a multiyear contract to his liking…

As we had speculated earlier this spring, the Pirates are moving closer to trading Jack Wilson. They’ve already benched Wilson in favor of Jose Castillo, who is a much stronger hitter. Wilson’s value isn’t particularly high right now, but his defensive reputation among scouts remains top-notch, and that could make him attractive to a pennant-contending team that needs help up the middle. The Tigers could become a player for Wilson, if they ever decide to move Carlos Guillen to first base on a fulltime basis…

The Dodgers’ rather surprising firing of Hall of Famer Eddie Murray as batting coach has resulted in some interesting coaching speculation. Former Dodger Bill Mueller will fill the position on an interim basis, but the Dodgers are said to be looking at more permanent solutions. They supposedly like both Mike Easler and Bill Robinson, both former major league batting coaches with strong resumes and reputations. By the way, this is now the second time that Murray has been fired as a team’s hitting coach. A few years back, he was let go by the Indians. The Dodgers didn’t give any specific reasons, but some followers of the club believe Murray expected slumping players to come to him, rather than the other way around. Murray is also very serious when it comes to the subject of hitting, and may have clashed with players who unfortunately don’t take hitting seriously enough.
This guy writes a pretty intersting blog, I don't know where he gets his info, but some of these trade scenarios make sense.http://bruce.mlblogs.com/bruce_markusens_coopersto/

I really hope the Yanks don't get Dunn. While I would love to see his power in the Bronx, and his BB mentality fits right in, he's another high strikeout, station-to-station type guy

Newark Star-Ledger: "The top candidate is left-hander Mark Buehrle of the Chicago White Sox, whose availability depends on how soon the Sox decide they're out of the AL Central race and it's time to start selling off players who can be free agents at the end of this season. The Mets have inquired about Buehrle, according to an official with one of the teams, but that's nothing new... To that end, the Mets have asked the Houston Astros about the availability of Brad Lidge."

Angels are really looking like a team wanting to get in the action. Mark Teixeira, Tejada, Dye, etc have all been mentioned at a few places I frequent. I think some of the AL fans forget how good the Angels are already and adding a Tejada would make them down right scary.

I would have loved to have been on the phone when the Reds asked the Angels for Ervin Santana and a few prospects for Adam Dunn.

Tigers and Braves made a very minor trade coming into their weekend series:

Will Ledezma for Macey McBride

Tigers did it because McBride has minor league options left and they needed to make a move. Seems like a wash trade.

There's a clause in Dunn's contract that voids his extension so he becomes a free agent if traded. Pretty much would just be a rental unless the halos renegotiated.
Still, if it's just Ervin Santana and a few minor prospects, it might be worth it for a push this year, no?Ervin reminds me of the Ramon Ortiz hype from 7 years ago every day.

Pretty much the consenus here now is that Texas hangs on to Tex to placate Young and then get the two draft picks for him when he signs as a freeagent in 2009.

Kill me now.

He pitches like Johan Santana when they're at home, and Carlos Santana on the road. I never figured out why they didn't just skip him every time they're on a raodtrip, since it's an inevitable disaster.

Can you explain to me what this is?

A rumor that surfaced less than two weeks ago, which had the Sox exploring a deal that would send Dye to the Yankees for struggling outfielder Bobby Abreu, has started to take on some life, according to one Sox source close to the situation.

Not only because Abreu is a good friend of Guillen's -- which worked out well when right-hander Freddy Garcia came over -- but also because the Sox believe Abreu is a slow starter and his best baseball this season is ahead of him.

The organization also reportedly isn't too thrilled with comments from Dye in which he came off as uncaring about where he plays.

''I've been around long enough to know that it's just a business,'' Dye told the Sun-Times this week.

''You're paid to work for a team for whatever period of time, give 100 percent to that club, and if you get dealt away, give 100 percent to the next club.''
My car is gassed up, I'll drive Abreu to the airport or Chicago, whichever he prefers, to make this happen. However, look who is playing each other in a 4 game set this week...

I think Dye is a winning player, I'd love for this move to go down!
I still don't understand why the White Sox would do this. Great trade for the Yanks if they can pull it off.
Because Dye is in the last year of his contract and he's too dinged up to be effective this year, even before the quad. I'd rather have Abroo in a heartbeat.

Anything new out there?
Yankees have supposedly looked at the following list of players since they still think they are making the playoffs and these guys will help them (insert sarcasm):Conine, Dye, Broussard, Weathers, and Gagne.Sam Zell also veteod sending Jacque Jones to the Marlins for low level prospects since the Cubs would pick up too much of the contract and he's looking to sell the club. He looking to sell for close to a billion dollars, so somehow 6 million makes a difference, but I digress. The White Sox still look like they want to deal Dye, Contreras, Garlan, Vazquez, and Iguchi.

I did see Contreras' no trade clause expired late last year so he can be dealt anywhere. I'd imagine he's gone soon. Weathers is also probably gone soon and the Reds just want cash and maybe a low level prospect. I think there will be a bunch of teams interested in him and anyone who throws in a good steak or a Wallmart super shopper gift card might bring in Weathers. As far as the Yankees go from my seat I'm hoping they acquire as many of these guys as possible. I don't want guys to land in Boston, LA, Minnesota or Cleveland (i.e., teams with a good chance to be in the playoffs).

I should add that with the Sox-Buehrle deal falling apart that he's back on the block and I wouldn't be shocked if he was moved soon. The latest rumor is to the Dodgers for Kemp and some other stuff.

Yeah...now that they aren't extending Buehrle, I'd expect that he'd be back....I was forwarding Sunday rumors I had read about before I had read about the Buehrle stuff this morning.

Hearing tons of Buehrle to the Mets chatter. I wouldn't mind see the deal happen if the Mets were given a window to negoiate a long term contract before the deal is done.

The Red Sox and Tigers have joined the Yankees in the pursuit of Eric Gagne, who has become one of the most widely pursued arms available. Detroit's bullpen has become a major concern because of Todd Jones' ineffectiveness (0-3, 12.54 ERA since May 28) and injuries to Joel Zumaya and Fernando Rodney.
Source: Phil Rogers, Chicago TribuneFrom Olney's q&a this morning:
Michael (Boston): Buster, With the Tigers recent pickups of McBride and Capellan do you still see them as active players in the trade market looking for a reliever to bolster their bullpen? If so, who do you think they might be looking at?Buster Olney: (1:15 PM ET ) Michael: Akinori Otsuka is their primary target, but they would have to give up something pretty good to get him.

Kenny Williams would be wise to trade him, the only thing keeping his ERA as low as it is right now appears to be...pure magic. His peripherals are terrible.
