***OFFICIAL TRADE RUMORS MASTER THREAD*** (2 Viewers)

Braves are rumored to be linked to several teams, namely the Rangers and White SoxScenario 1: Konerko + Garland ----- Salty + Reyes + Lower ProspectScenario 2: Texiera ----- Salty + Elvis Andrus (A)Scenario 3: Texiera + C.J. Wilson/Gagne ------ Salty + Elvis Andrus (A) + Reyes + Low Level Prospect*Note that Texiera is signed only through 2008, Gagne as well and Wilson through 2011. (IIRC) Gagne also has gone on record saying that he will only go to a team who will announce him as the immediate closer due to incentives for games FINISHED. But that loss would be offset by the posteason bonus worked into the contract. Braves have a major need for a bonafide #3 starter and bullpen relief- though not necessarily a closer. Another solid MR would take a ton of arm strain away from Smoltz and Hudson and would not leave Wickman bad situations to inherit- and blow. FWIW, I like situation 3 with Wilson as the option. We'd sport a hell of a lineup and address the pen. As for resigning Tex, Mike Hampton's bloated contract expires in 08 and can be used to make a potential deal. With Smoltz and Hudson pitching the way they are, the Braves could dominate short series (postseason) assuming they make the playoffs.
WOW, has Tex's value dropped that much?
Salty's was rated as the Brave's #1 prospect and was rated as the 38th and 40th overall prospect in the game by two of Baseball America's writers prior to the season. He's a switch-hitting catcher who can mash, get on base, and is already pretty good at fielding his position. He could be as good, if not better, than Brian McCann, his counterpart in Atlanta. I'm very high on the kid and for Atlanta to consider dealing him for pricier, yet similar talent and not converting him into a slick-fielding 1B is insane, but they're apparently set on that.If he goes to the stRangers, he'll be the franchise C for many, many years to come. He may even make stRangers fans forget about I-Rod. Plus, if you can get Andrus (the #2 Braves prospect according to Baseball America), you have to at least strongly consider it.
While I agree with most of what you said, I think the proposed deal can be attributed mainly to the window of opportunity closing fast for the Braves. With Edgar and Andruw potentially gone after this season, Smoltz and Chipper getting up there in age, the Braves must try and win now because they will fall hard once this cast is gone. Salty has shown he can hit on the major league level but its not likely he can put up Teix type numbers until he can establish himself a niche in the batting order and if he ever does get to the level, it will likely be in a year or two- and the landscape of this team probably will have dramatically changed. As for Andrus, he is a very interesting prospect- with a world of talent and maturity that represents the total package but hasn't dominated the minors as he should have. Many liken him to a young Jeter. Simply put, Teixiera represents their best shot at winning either this year or the next.

Not sure about the originating source, but was linked off of what I consider a good source...

Per our sources: Texas and Cleveland came to terms today (7/25/07) and the Kenny Lofton deal will be announced by mid-day Thursday. Texas presented with 3 prospects to select and have 48 hours to pull the string. One of the options is believed to be Brian Barton.
Suprised they took Ramirez over Barton, assuming Barton was on the list. Now look for the Indians to deal for a RP, using Ben Francisco and maybe another prospect as bait.

Gagne must consent to a trade to Detroit, and it seems the Rangers asked for Cameron Maybin.
Here is what the Tigers did when asked-----> :goodposting: :drive: :lmao:
I thought it would be "....wait, did you say Cameron Manheim?"
:lmao: Seriously...all joking aside the Tigers organization has pretty much lacked position player prospects for the past 30 years. This guy is the great white hope so to speak. We ain't trading this mofo for anyone not named Pujols or Miguel Cabrera. Don't even bother asking.

Maybin is untouchable. Dombrowski isn't a fool.

Wigginton supposedly pulled from the lineup...stay tuned
I had heard the Cubs had put out a feeler on him.I still don't think it would satisfy the bench needs they have.
Wheeler in case you missed it.
LinkIn two days, that makes Wigginton, Cantu, Cumberland and McClung for Wheeler, Balfour, Medlock, Shackleford, and future considerations.

At least the D-Rays have identified pitching (specifically the bullpen) as a weakness.

Kenny Lofton is an Indian again.Details to follow
Max Ramirez, C.
See? This is how you build up your organizational depth:1. Sign greybeard for cheap2. Let greybeard have a good season3. Trade greybeard for good prospect4. Watch prospect prosper in the coming years while the greybeard analyzes his performance on ESPN.
Win-Win on this one. Tribe looking to win now and is deep at catcher (just like Atlanta last year, Wickman for Max). Texas needs alot and got a nice prospect.Gets interesting if Texas trades for Salty. Could they have had Barton from the Tribe? I've heard they could have. Barton is closer to the majors than Max, could replace Texiera at 1B assuming he can make the move there from OF, Salty to C long term.

For Davies so that would be a pretty big price to pay. Atlanta really making a push it seems but I just don't want Dotel to go to Cleveland. That's all I really care about.

Not sure, the Denver Post just said that the Rockies were evaluating Detroits offer for Clint Barmes and that they were aggressively pursuing late inning help with Troy Percival, Julian Tavarez and Salomon Torres among the targets.

Not interested in Tavarez, but Percival and Torres would be good additions.

Barmes may be going to Detroit apparently to replace Perez.
Jack Wilson of PIT is rumored to packing his bags to Detroit.http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07212/805699-63.stm
BLOCKBUSTERNo seriously, expect a reliever to join him.
Makes sense with the Pirates picking up Izturis from the Cubs.
It makes a lot of sense here because many believe Guillen plays first next year and Wilson would be a great fit here...plus we could use a backup right now who can play solid defense and give Guillen and Polanco a rest.

Price for Gagne just went up...

I imagine this takes the Red Sox out of the running for Gagne. The only question is, what are the Yankees going to give up?

Dye switching Sox?
looks that way. What I am hearing is that Wily Mo + Hansen will get the deal done. IMO the Pale Hose have to trade him...
Do you like that deal?
I do. Personally I have given up on Hansen. I think Dye would be a great piece of the puzzle for the Sox Championship run this year. I take Dye over Gagne I think...think he helps the team more then Gagne. Right field has been a huge disappointment thus far. Bullpen has been the best in the majors. Improve at the area of weakness...Edit to add - I might be the last one off the Wily Mo bandwagon, but I have finally come around to the fact that he has no place on this team. Needs to be a DH somewhere. He served his purpose as Manny/Papi insurance, but luckily they never had to cash in on that insurance

Rangers asked for Horne, Yanks turned them down. Supposedly out of the running now.
