*** Official Travis Pastrana at Caesars Evel Knievel Jumps *** (1 Viewer)

UFC guy says he knows nothing about riding motorcycles, but goes on to describe the physical issues with landing one.
"No speed run on this attempt.  ... First he wants to do a speed run though"

In this day of drones, where is the overhead shot showing the crowds and where he's jumping to and from?

Glad to see the American stuntman is alive and well. Watched this with my family last night, beats the crap out of what we normally watch on TV.

I thought the show was way too stretched out, I think it was a cool idea and all but only watched the first jump live. Caught the last two this morning.

That is absolutely unreal and unfathomable to me. Does anyone know how to decode what his Navigator was telling him?
turns are broken down into 1 -6

1 hair pin

6 basically no turn.

The plus and minuses are 5+ is a faster corner than a 5

"100" is the distance

Thanks, that's pretty interesting.

It would take a lot of practice to be able to process the steady flow of turn info info quickly, all while driving like a bat out of hell.

It looked like Pastrana made the fountain jump with ease versus Evel's epic wipe out. What made the difference? 50 years of improved bike technology?

there is other type of verbiage - crest/jump etc but the basics are the same.  Some don't use the plus minus stuff.

The navigator is a turn or two ahead also.

bike/engine/ramp/science

Even though the bikes were the same weight.   Travis bike definitely benefits from newer technology.

One jump Evel knew his gear ratio was wrong but still jumped anyway.....

ETA: Also, Travis is one of the best ever in jumping motorcycles.  So he makes stuff look way easier than it really is. I don't think Evel had an enitre complex and foam pit at his disposal to practice :)

this was almost as bad as watching millionaire, when the contestant would contemplate over a question for 15 minutes.

Less drunk me agrees with you 100%.  And it was an entertaining show.  Drunk me just wanted it to seem a little harder than it did. :)
