***Official Utopia Thread*** Fox Cancels Series :( (1 Viewer)

I can't imagine this show survives and if it does, that is not a good sign. Fox has Brooklyn 99 and they weren't sure if that would get a second season and it might be the best comedy on TV (IMHO). Seeing crap like this, I had to turn it off during homeless guys ranting about his stuff on the box, makes me sad thinking of how crappy TV shows have gotten nowadays because reality is cheaper and people seem to think acting like this is normal. I'll get off my soapbox, but crap like this is why you have parents getting into fights with umps, coaches and other fans for elementary school aged athletics.
Maybe. I'm not so sure reality TV is as far from "reality" as people would like to think.

Watched the premier. Narrator is terrible and his dialog is forced and ridiculous.

There needed to be more focus on work and decisions instead of playing to the Jerry Springer crowd.

I'll watch one more, if it's more of the same I'm out.

It may not be, but I also think reality TV is ridiculously played up to be confrontational and when that gets news and viral, people are influenced by it. Don't forget that most people aren't smart and are very easily influenced. Look at politics and party influence over the masses. People spout talking points as if they have actually reviewed and thought about them.

Oh well, I already hopped off the soap box, but I coach my 7 year old's baseball teams (one all-star and one rec) and sometimes the conversations you have about 7 and 8 year olds stun me when I think about them. It isn't about playing ball for enjoyment anymore, it is about how awesome a Facebook post you can make and getting your kid geared up to be on the high school team. I played high school football and I don't recall it being the badge of honor with parents as much as a way to meet girls.

Forgot about the host. Is that guy in witness protection? It looked like he was wearing one of those fake glasses, nose and mustache disguises. Than put on a goofy hat to really throw us off.

Only reason I said that was because my father was thrown out of my little league game for arguing calls long before The Real World and especially social media. I'd agree though that those have made things worse, or at least made it more apparent. It's getting harder to suppress emotions.

Hex: You want to see some pretty shooting?

Guy with her: Why you gonna get someone else to do it?

My Utopia don't think would include the good pastor. More hot nude chicks by the water.

A learned behavior is a behavior that was observed by an individual that they find it to be beneficial to them in some way. There's a motivating factor behind it. Also, it can be conditioned. the learned behavior is a conditioned response to a stimuli through either voluntary or involuntary intent.

A learned behavior is some type of action or reflex that you learn. For example tying your shoes is a learned behavior, but crying is not.

A learned behavior is one that you decide to learn, unlike 'innate' behavior. This is not a natural behavior, instead it is learned by that being. You can learn these behaviors by watching others do them, such as riding a bike, learning to write, or being an ####### on a reality show.

I had no idea he was this guy,I've followed his work for years and never knew what he looked or sounded like.

Daniel Charles Piraro (born 1958) is a painter, illustrator and cartoonist best known for his award-winning syndicated cartoon panel Bizarro. Piraro's cartoons have been reprinted in 16 book collections (as of 2012). He has also written three books of prose

That reminds me of that Adult Swim show called Delocated. Where they took the guy in the witness protection program and made him a star of his own reality show. And he wore a ski mask and voice modulator so he could conceal his identity for the show.

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but does the live feed have the woman bits blurred out by the lake?

Enjoying it so far. But it will have to move beyond people losing their temper for absolutely no reason at all.
I wonder if the show will get boring once the people settle into a routine. There's no prize and no competitions, so aside from the occasional newcomer, there might not be much to stir thing up. But then people are crazy so what do I know.

There's always chance of a coyote or mountain lion attack

As I guy that loves Survivor I recorded this with eager anticipation. This may be the worst new show I have seen in ten years. Deleting it from my DVR may not be enough I may have to upgrade my dish package and get a untainted DVR.

This is a terrible terrible show. It is like someone when into a tv execs office with some out takes from Jerry Springer with a #### eating grin and says see people off the street CAN be ####ty actors and we don't have to pay them like REAL ####ty actors.

Totally fake.

There is no prize so why would some person do it for free? for a year? I can just see that now. "I am a successful contractor, I am going to abandon my business and take a year long vacation. bye everybody!"

These are all actors, bad actors, actors who are so bad at acting that the only gig they can get is a year long webcam. They are the webcam girls of porn in real life, not good enough to be in actual porn.

There are two people who I want to elevator punch in their whore mouths topshelf for starting the "I banned Ray Rice in my fantasy league" and the ####### host of Utopia. You know why that host has a glued on Duke Dastardly mustache a Howie Mendell I'm cool earring and a hat, he's in disguise, he has hopes of not being brutally stabbed to death by tom when he snaps after this garbage is cancelled after 6 episodes.

I of course will keep watching for two reasons, 1. I do not know how to remove timers from my DVR and 2. As a regular in the Walking Dead thread I will take perverse pleasure in coming into a thread and mocking people who like this filth, like people do to me in the Dead thread.

Big Brother is a million times worse than this.

Thanks for the warning, I have never watched Big Brother. But I find it hard to believe Big Brother is a million times worse. I mean if your base number is penis leprosy a million multiplier pretty much makes the number pretty much impossible.

So far I'm enjoying it, but I agree that it needs to move past all the arguing all the time or it'll lose me pretty quickly.

I tried watching Utopia because of this thread and it was AWFUL. Not interesting in the least. I am a fan of Big Brother so I figured I would give it a shot. Taking this off the dvr asap

must reality tv be primarily populated with "2+ standard deviation" people? casting directors work overtime to find very extreme personalities.

as for Utopia, doubt i'll keep watching, but would be interested to see if the people stop referring to "my utopia" and start talking about "our utopia". long ways to go, as not sure i've heard more first-person pronouns outside of an Obama speech.

Really? I like BB :bag: and Survivor out of the reality shows. This one sounds way worse.

Kristen (their marketing guru) just came up with what I think is a pretty good idea to allow the haters of the show to interact. Stay tuned guys, your time is coming

Fox TV Chief Addresses ‘Utopia's’ Low Ratings: ‘We're Going to Have Patience’

TV | By Jethro Nededog on September 10, 2014
“No one thought we were going to launch a huge ratings juggernaut,” Dana Walden tells TheWrap
The early outlook for Fox's $50 million reality gamble isn't looking too good, but Fox TV bosses are saying they're going to exercise patience.

If Tuesday's “Utopia” time period premiere was regarded as a fall series premiere, and Sunday's debut treated as a preview, Tuesday's “Utopia” tied for the lowest fall series premiere on the Big 4 networks, with its 0.9 rating matching the debut of “School Pride” on NBC on Oct. 15, 2010. It also represented a 55 percent drop from Sunday's ratings.

Numbers like that would usually lead to certain cancelation. But, new Fox Television Group co-chairman and co-CEO Dana Walden said in a discussion with TheWrap on Wednesday that she and the network's managers aren't put off by the numbers.

“We like the show a lot. It's an ambitious idea,” Walden said. “It's a show that feels familiar but had a great unconventional twist. There's an aspirational feel to it. But, we launched it really early, maybe before viewers were ready for a new fall show.

“No one thought we were going to launch a huge ratings juggernaut, but with patience it will grow and we're going to have patience,” she added.

Adapted from a Dutch model created by “Big Brother” and “The Voice” producer John de Mol, Fox's executive vice president of alternative entertainment, Simon Andreae, preemptively took “Utopia” off the market in January ahead of a possible bidding war.

There was some executive clash within Fox over the show's costs and whether the Dutch show's ratings supported the gamble, though Andreae said on a press call last week that the broadcasting company's top execs are “pretty happy and relaxed to embrace the risk.”

Terrible show. Was so annoyed with all the people after two shows I just threw in the towel. Don't care about any of them. Red is the worst. Severely lacking in hot women to look at too....if nothing else, at least have good looking people. They couldn't even get that right.
