Love Sentinels.
I get that Haskins improved towards the end of the year but Jones literally had more games with 4 TD-0 INT than Haskins had with 2 TDs
I dont think a case can be made that Haskins was better last season. But after getting 1st team reps and actual playing time he did look better down the stretch. I think he shows more promise. But who knows.I get that Haskins improved towards the end of the year but Jones literally had more games with 4 TD-0 INT than Haskins had with 2 TD
There is no real case to be made here for year 1 at least
) and Kornheiser.I don't hate the military theme idea at all but as someone who loves wolves I really want it to be Red Wolves
Both for the sake of the howling fans and the conservation awareness it might have
Sentinels is still better than Warriors at least

they like to watch the other team score and make the playoffs. Totally agree that year one isn't close.I dont think a case can be made that Haskins was better last season. Rushing? This has been an issue for, what, thirty years or more? They didn't have something picked out in an "In case of emergency, break glass" type of situation?Anything is better than rushing the naming process. That's a positive.

I think you rushed the posting process.Anything is better than rushing the naming process. That's a positive.
Because Snyder never wanted to change the name, the names he possibly could have used are under trademark and he doesn't have the rights to them.Rushing? That's dumb too. Go get them. Or doesn't he have enough money or pull? Or...pick something else?Because Snyder never wanted to change the name, the names he possibly could have used are under trademark and he doesn't have the rights to them.
Well... because a lot of the good names are also trademarked. That's dumb too. Go get them. Or doesn't he have enough money or pull? Or...pick something else?
That guy, Philip Martin McCaulay, is located in Virginia (according to the trademark application), and describes himself as an author and actuary on the website he set up for a few of these nicknames. There are pages for the Warriors, Monuments, Arrows, Veterans, Pandas, Founders, Federals and Red-Tailed Hawks.
The site seems to exist purely to establish or maintain the trademarks. At the top of every page is a basic title followed by one-sentence descriptions of “Number of Players,” “Scoring,” and “Winning.” It’s spectacularly low-rent, and the possibility that Snyder and the team are fighting with this guy over the new name for their 88-year-old franchise is, well, hilarious.
In the end, this feels so very Washington. Snyder spent so much time refusing to change the team’s name that he never made arrangements to protect the team itself for when the time actually came to change the name. He didn’t even do it when the team’s own quarterback, Dwayne Haskins, tweeted on July 3 that he preferred the Washington RedTails.
When did McCaulay file the trademark for the Washington RedTails? July 5, just two days later. If Snyder doesn’t get his first choice, or he has to pay a bundle for it, all he needs is a mirror to find out who to blame.
People would say that since the South wore gray in the Civil War that it is a not-so-subtle endorsement of the institution of slavery. Think man, THINK!If I were Snyder I'd just leave the name as is and change to gray uniforms. Can't offend anyone that way.
yeah, kind of strange they couldn't get this right. If i were Snyder, i would have listened to the Native American tribes out there, and simply inherited one of their suggestions. A big one coming out was "Code Talkers" to honor the use of the Native American language in WW2. Would have been a way to keep the same basic mascot and colors, and would have been seen in a much better light as honoring the Native Americans and supporting the country as a whole with WW2.Rushing? This has been an issue for, what, thirty years or more? They didn't have something picked out in an "In case of emergency, break glass" type of situation?
Your cynicism is warranted.Snyder isn't paying anyone for the name. That can be assured. So anything trademarked is not happening. I suspect that is the real hold up in choosing a new name.
He's the type that will spend $5M to find an un-trademarked name just so he doesn't have to fork over $100K for the trademark
If they get 16 man-games out of Guice and Love combined, I'd be shocked.Bryce Love passed his physical, and is ready to go. Man, if that guy could return to the level he played at, at Stanford, and Guice could stay off the injury report, and so could McKissic, between AP, Guice, Love and McKissic that could be a pretty dynamic rushing offense, that would allow Haskins a whole lot of latitude in his development.
If, if, if, I know...but, it's exciting to think about.
I like Dave Butz, and I cannot lie....Lost in the shuffle of all the offseason tumoil, is one thing I"m VERY much looking forward to:
THE RETURN OF THE 4-3 DEFENSE!!!
Among many things that have popped up on the spectrum between 'flat-out wrong' and 'just doen't seem right' since Snyder took control in 1999, was the demise of the 4-3 defense in Washington.
Charles Mann/World Grant/Dave Butz/Dexter Manley
Rich Milot/Neal Olkewicz/Mel Kaufman (Monte Coleman)
Chills, I tell you. Chills.
Love could be the dark horse here for sure. His talent preinjury was pretty excitingBryce Love passed his physical, and is ready to go. there's been only positive news coming out about Guice, other than that he's a typical young kid, and quite possibly an exceptionally bright one, at that.
Well, someone’s already linked his bad interviews and negative talk that was being said about Guice prior to 7/25/2018. It’s always interesting how somehow that always gets ignored in favor of hypeUm, 7/25/2018?
Me too, but if they already had all the incentive in the world to get their life together before this I'm not sure what's likely to change at this point in their life. Without the structure and support of a team around him(at least at the moment) I would imagine whatever demons he lives with are going to be more difficult to overcome on his own. The trope would be, "Well, now that he's bottomed out......" but when do we really know someone has hit bottom or even how they will react?I just read about Guice. It sounds really bad for him. I always hope they can get their life together.
