***OFFICIAL*** Washington Commanders Thread (6 Viewers)

I will give my quick and simple evaluation of the game:

The OL was badly outplayed by the Indy DL.  And that results in no offense.  RBs were continually hit behind the line of scrimmage.  Pressure on Smith every play.  And then, no offense.

Some other quick notes:

1.  Arizona appears to be really bad.  It is good that the Redskins dominated them in week 1, but it may be more how bad Arizona is than how good the Redskins are.

2.  One thing that has been proven time and again:  Andy Reid knows quarterbacks.  So now he drafted Mahomes, had him sit for year, and when he is ready, ships off Alex Smith.  I don't think anyone should be surprised that Mahomes is equal or better than Smith was last year.

At least this time, Smith looks like he can still play.  When the Redskins traded for McNabb, he was done.

3.  The pretty early, but Cousins is looking much better than Smith.  Cousins made the offense work with little talent at wr.  We will see if Smtih can so the same.  Cousins could be in for a big year with more offensive talent around him.

A bad loss to the Packers, 25,000 Packer fans attending, and the probability for high drama during the season goes way up.

Read a little over at the comments section at Hogs Heaven on a few threads.

Looks like Alex Smith is doing his usual number on the fanbase as he did in SF and KC lulz. He is the most divisive mediocre QB in the NFL. Fans either hate him, or never blame him for anything. "Alexcuses" is a term that was created early in his days in SF. It carried over to his days at KC (who sure don't miss him for Mahomes). I see two games into his career in WAS, it's the same old Alex "1 yard past the LOS on 3rd snd 12 checkdown" Smith.

Some things never change

Here's a take I'm afraid I might have: Gruden at least gets next year to work with Alex Smith. Smith is 34. If he is going to do anything as a Redskins we'll be on that track this time next year. And it won't be with change at Head Coach. Alex Smith and Gruden get this year and next to do something. Then it's full rebuild mode.

This makes me sad...

I don't think there is full rebuild mode in the NFL.  If you look at Rams and SF last year, a turn around can happen really fast.

Smith is pretty well known at this point.  He will run the offense competently.  He is not a dynamic QB.  I am starting to think what Cousins' did with the little talent around him last year may be a bigger achievement than I previously thought.

Redskins sign Perriman and Floyd at WR; consider signing Paxton Lynch as third QB.

The league better watch out now...you are all on notice!!!   :P
Redskins just cut Perriman, 4 days after signing him.   Guess it was too much to have TWO first-round busts (Doctson and Perriman) on the roster.

The desperation move to sign Floyd and Perriman speaks volumes about how the Redskins' brass views their WR corps.  Richardson, Crowder and Doctson collectively have 18 catches for 173 yards and no TDs.  Pathetic.

The Redskins will be without starting left guard Shaun Lauvao against the Packers on Sunday. Lauvao has been out of practice all week with a calf injury. In his absence, starting center Chase Roullier will move over to left guard and veteran Tony Bergstrom will start at center. Earlier this week Gruden explained that the coaches believe that this is their most effective combination.

Reserve safety, Troy Apke, is also out. He will miss his second straight game with a hamstring injury.

Questionable are WR Maurice Harris (concussion), WR Paul Richardson (shoulder), and LB Zach Brown (oblique).
As usual with concussions, Harris won't be totally cleared until right before gametime.

I can’t imagine how many empty seats there will be today. Miserable weather. Even with the Packers in town, there were quite a few tickets available early this week.

The weather, that's who. Actually, that probably improves our odds.

I'm just hoping nobody on either Team (especially you, Aaron Rodgers), gets hurt due to the sloppy conditions.

This will be all about our secondary. Rodgers will make plays. We just need to bat balls, make tackles, keep em covered. That's how we win today.

Terrified Rodgers is going to destroy us and send us into a death spiral. Our best stars are mostly aging and I do not want to see a second half stretch where its going so badly that an already easy-to-please Gruden becomes a lame duck waiting for Black Monday. That situation paired with being tied to a 34-year old Smith would be devastating.

Hate to be negative but last week was a wake up call as to where this team still is under Gruden. Just has the feel right now like Shanahan and Zorn's last years where things just fell apart. I don't think things are that bad and I don't think there's internal strife like those years--but this feels like a make or break season and last week followed by playing Rodgers (who will break even good teams' hearts) this week...it's an ominous start.

Happy game day!

....the....the jinx uh, worked guys.  :lmao:

Who is this Peterson fellow? He might make it in this league.

Thank god for a big first half lead. They had no offense the second half.

Lose to the Colts, beat the Packers. This team is nuts and the NFL is nuts.

BTW Josh Norman went off hobbling after the last defensive play of the game, so that's something to keep an eye on.

Funny how he didn't come back in to eat his crow. I guess you can simply refer to my earlier comment.
Right here buddy. Yeah he sucked but you guys still have nothing. Enjoy your fluke win with your ham and egger QB. You'll be #####ing later this season that you need to draft a QB.

He never does.

He's the guy who insists Cam Newton is a "game manager".
He's not even that. He's just garbage.

This is what a loser organization looks like. But hey, you replaced Kirk Cousins with Alex Smith. :lmao:
Dude.  You know it’s not insulting to me to say the Skins are a losing organization.  See I may joke around but I’ll never just bail on my team because they go through a losing spell.  You are pretty cocky for someone who pretty much just jumped ship because his team was struggling.

Those Skins fans on this board who stick with the team will really enjoy the victories when they do come.

This is what a loser poster looks like. The Redskins aren't even your team but you're still posting here?  :lmao:

Wow who was that team in burgundy and gold today?

Gruden needs to try to get the ball first every game and try to get a lead .  Plays much better that way.

33 runs.  20 passes.  Did someone kidnap Jay today?  Peterson was running so hard Jay couldn’t stop.  Peterson running the clock out at the end was like Skins if old.

Do we actually have the number one defense in the league?  Amazing.

i don’t know who we are yet.  Lose to Indy beat the pack.  Though Indy gave eagles a scare today so maybe they don’t suck either...

one thing is for sure we need to run to win...that’s the common thread on our two wins

i have no playoff hopes yet but it’s nice to see the team show heart and battle back this week

go skins
