USA Today's Mike Jones reports Redskins president Bruce Allen "still has a good chance to keep his job."

If so, I'm done. Honest to God this would be the dumbest franchise on the planet if they keep that idiot.

This franchise has been freeing up my Sundays for years. So I'd fully expect this to happen.

From Rotoworld;

Redskins president Bruce Allen will reportedly "be out of running the team’s football operations by Monday."

In addition to hiring a new head coach, the Redskins are expected to completely shake up their front office, per NBC Sports' JP Finlay. Allen is expected to at least lose his football operation role and could be removed entirely from the organization. It's a move that is long overdue but one that Redskins owner Dan Snyder has found tough to pull given his close relationship with Allen. The Redskins need to remove Allen from football operations to give potential head coaches more confidence in the organization's future. A statement from the team should come within the next 72 hours. A new head coach could be named within that time frame as well.

#### another role he needs to be GONE!

So many rumors.

im seeing some sources saying Louis riddick is being eyed as GM.  They tried to get him previously but he said he wouldn’t work with Bruce.  Also seeing Marvin Lewis as the coach people are leaning towards.

and also urban Meyer for some front office position.  Team president?

i still get the feeling Dan may keep Bruce for purposes of getting the stadium.  And i pray that doesn’t happen.

#firebruce

If Bruce is allowed to stay in the building at all — even as janitor — he will undermine  the new GM until he is in charge of football operations once more.  A change in roles is no good.  He needs to be out entirely.

Serious question:  how are things like contracts or getting a new stadium not “football operations.”  It’s ALL related to football.

#firebruceENTIRELY

This is the best news ever, can't disagree that removing him completely would be even better.  Does medical stuff fall under football operations?

· 47m . From this perspective, a potential #Redskins scenario could be Eric Schaffer as Team President with Kyle Smith as General Manager

· 50m ..  For the uninitiated, Team President & General Manager are often not the same role/person. A Team President often, from an Executive level, leads/vision sets both the football & business sides of a team. While a GM is purely a football role responsible for evaluation/roster mgmt.

Rhiannon Walker  @InstantRHIplay   ·   3h

Offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell has gained “full control” of the offensive play calling the last two games. And as such, he’s “doing everything his way,” multiple players told me
So that's part of why the offense is improving.

J.I. Halsell  @SalaryCap101  ·  13h

Not saying this because I worked for the guy, but #Redskins fans should rejoice if Eric Schaffer becomes Team President. Short of Dan selling the team, Schaffer taking the reins is the best outcome any one could want. He has Dan’s trust and can lead a much needed culture change.

If they keep Bruce in any form then the new coach/GM better be good quick because Richie Rich will do everything to put him back in charge.  At least Skins fans realize this and not have their blinders on

I figure it will be Marvin Lewis since I can't picture Ron Rivera taking any of their ####.  Lewis can be more puppet for them.  Amazing that a coach who I don't think has ever won a playoff game as head coach is actually an upgrade

Today could be a very good day.

1.2 pick coming (Happy with Chase but would love an RG3 trade down for a kings ransom)

Dallas goes home

Allen hopefully fired from the franchise (I don't want him to be even be a vendor or parking attendant)

The Redskins are going to be responsible for 4 head coaches being fired this season and one being hired.

Fired: Jay Gruden, Ron Rivera, Jason Garrett, Bill Callahan

Hired: Ron Rivera

Colt McCoy said goodbyes in the locker room and isn't on team plane back to DC.

Ron Rivera is meeting with Redskins tomorrow.

JP Finlay  @JPFinlayNBCS  ·  1h

There is also a team meeting scheduled. All of that could change though. A lot could happen tonight and early tomorrow AM. The tarmac at Dulles could be a scene.

Julie Donaldson  @JDonaldsonNBCS  3h

Am told Rivera would have total control and final say on Draft. Gives time to evaluate scouting staff. ALL this given unless something in meeting tomorrow goes wrong.
Julie Donaldson  @JDonaldsonNBCS  1h

Ron Rivera has been told he can win with the Redskins organization, has to change culture. He was told Bruce Allen was “out”. -- per source. Of course, question being out of building or just football.
Julie Donaldson  @JDonaldsonNBCS  47m

Redskins have been at the HC search for awhile. Expect Ron Rivera to be their guy, unless something goes wrong at meeting tomorrow in Ashburn. Could be introduced as early as this week if not next.

John Keim  @john_keim 2h

Good sign for the Redskins that this is Rivera’s first interview. Wasn’t sure his level of interest in this job. This says a lot. So... also: was told “doubtful” for Urban Meyer joining as an exec...

Officially DB Maurice Smith (some call him the Space Cowboy) has a concussion, but the way he was taken off the field on the cart with his neck completely secured not to move makes me worry it is more than that.

I didn't know any of the guys in their secondary today. Looks like some guy named Colvin can cover pretty well.

Team statement

"As this season concludes, Bruce Allen has been relieved of his duties as President of the Washington Redskins and is no longer with the organization. Like our passionate fan base, I recognize we have not lived up to the high standards set by great Redskins teams, coaches and players who have come before us. As we reevaluate our team leadership, culture and process for winning football games, I am excited for the opportunities that lie ahead to renew our singular focus and purpose of bringing championship football back to Washington D.C."

✌🏽

This makes tolerating this entire season worth it.

Its raining on my keyboard...tears of joy!!!

If Rivera and Hurney end up in DC, wonder if we could see a Redskins-Panthers trade leading up to the draft that allows the Panthers to get their new franchise QB at 1.2 and maybe the Redskins pick up a 2nd in 2020 (along with 1.7 pick of course) and a 1st in 2021? Does that seem like the right compensation?

Wow I didn't think they would actually fire him completely.  Probably had to in order to have a sniff of a chance to get Rivera

Bruce Allen has been fired from his role as the Washington Redskins’ president, ending a controversial, decade-long run as team owner Daniel Snyder’s top executive.

He will have no further role with the organization, Snyder said in a statement announcing the move Monday morning, despite recent belief that he could be removed from his role overseeing football operations but given a different position with the team.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2019/12/30/bruce-allen-fired-by-redskins/

That means that the rumors Allen might still have some role with the organization were rumors started by Bruce Allen.

What Trent Williams said about Allen in November:

“I just don’t understand. “In any business world, when the employer has someone who is underperforming, he finds another one. I don’t know in the last 10 years if there is a worse record [for] someone who has held their job for 10 years and performed the way they performed and still have a job.
I can easily see Trent playing for the Skins next season.

Sources tell @JourdanRodrigue and I that Ron Rivera is Ashburn through the day, and “doesn’t expect to leave” the team facility until a contract with the team is complete.

Could’ve been started by Dan to gauge fan reaction. Everyone needs to remember that Dan is still here. Don’t let him fool us into thinking Bruce was the only problem.
True. Dan's as much of a weasel as Bruce.

Imagine being the person assigned to clean out Bruce Allen's desk: 30 burner phones, 45 Coors Lights, and a mirror for admiring himself.

John Keim‏Verified account @john_keim 32m32 minutes ago

Dwayne Haskins says change can be good. But says he want Kevin O’Connell to stay. Says they were on the same page. Anticipated calls because felt like he knew what KOC was thinking. Also called Chase Young a “game wrecker”
John Keim‏Verified account @john_keim 10m10 minutes ago

Josh Norman says IF Ron Rivera is hired there will be a “night and day” difference in the culture. Says he’d be excited to be part of it. Says no guarantee he stays just because it would be a Rivera/Wilks pairing. He obviously had success with them in Carolina.
John Keim‏Verified account @john_keim 42m42 minutes ago

Kerrigan on Ron Rivera (if hired as expected): “he always had a physical, tough bunch.”
John Keim‏Verified account @john_keim 52m52 minutes ago

Ryan Kerrigan says he wants to be around. Has made it clear to his agent. My understanding is that there had been initial talks on an extension earlier this year. Has one year left on deal.
If they draft Chase Young, I'm not sure they need to tie up a lot of money in Kerrigan.

This is very good news:

JP Finlay‏Verified account @JPFinlayNBCS 2h2 hours ago

All the focus is on a new coach and new front office, but I’m also told to expect some changes to Redskins training/rehab staff. Head trainer Larry Hess is safe but others could be gone as soon as today, per sources.
JP Finlay‏Verified account @JPFinlayNBCS

Check that - sounds like Larry Hess could be under serious scrutiny too. Stay tuned.
