He's been posting all the NT/DT signings by the Skins, suggesting that Haynesworth is on his way out.

I take it as more of an effort to find a few good men to play NT and back up DE because everybody knows that Big Als replacement is nowhere to be found on the street. The only place to look in an attempt to compensate for his loss would be in the late 1st or early 2nd round of the 2010 draft. So if they haven't identified a trade partner willing to pony up at least one of those types of picks in exchange for trading him, then they should cease and abstain from such nonsense (and the appearance thereof)!Besides they need to be worrying more about the gimpy NT they got from Carolina and old-man Daniels.

Talking about Sean Taylor Vs Kellen Winslow:

-Says Sean was out of shape

-Sean Wowed them on game film.

He would give Big Ben another chance, though if he has one chance left.

If he was GM right now he'd be sweating saying if our tackle is going to be there at 4.

Just said took someone to dinner last year, someone who was picked ahead of the skins in the first and he was very obnoxious yelling across the table. And they took him off the board after that because they said he wouldnt fit in the locker room. Added he had a bad year this season. (I wonder who it was?)

I think it's called "Throw enough crap at the wall and something is bound to stick". :thumbup: Either they're telling Haynesworth he's replaceable (at least with a body on the roster), or they're telling him "hey, we're willing to dig up a NT anywhere we can so you don't have to play there".

That's what I'm seeing. "We're just going to keep signing nose tackles and defensive tackles until you see that we don't need you, Mr. Haynesworth. So what if they're all mediocre at best?" How many have they signed so far? 4? 5? 27?

That's pretty much on the money. There hadn't been any talk in the press, even respectful talk after Bugel had retired, of how the game had passed him by. Perhaps he was unimaginative, but I never read anywhere that he could not teach technique and toughness. BTW, and this is important. Bugel was always known as the foulest mouth on the staff. He made players cringe, he even made Gibbs cringe. Now that he's retired who steps up to take over his spot?Who's going to be the ####### foulest ####### mouth on the whole ####### team now? :thumbup:

LaCanfora has been pretty adamant for awhile now about the Skins thinking about trading Haynesworth. This is the first time he's called it "very likely".It would be great if the Eagles would trade up for 1.04, since they apparently want a safety and Berry will be there and probably won't last much longer. The Eagles have a pretty good number of picks in the first 2-3 rounds and the Redskins need more high picks. The Skins could still get a good OT later in the first round and another good player as well.If they could trade Haynesworth for a 1st or for two 2nds I'd be OK with it, but I don't think anyone will give nearly that much for him. The Redskins obviously want to dump him so nobody will offer much, figuring the Skins will sooner or later take whatever they can get. Doing that would be a mistake.

I would still be surprised if he is dealt. After all, Adam Schefter who is NEVER wrong and probably has better contacts in DC with Shanahan there, says he will not be traded.

Which he can say after that the 'Skins were offered a deal that they couldn't refuse to cover himself. Though I like Schefty, I would not put his friendship beyond the fact that he could try to help in the cat-n-mouse media game to improve value or talks for Shanny.

The 980 Skins beat reporter is now Al Galdy. He was on with Andy and Steve last night. He talked about a conversation he had over the weekend with Haslett. Apparently, Haslett said he could see Haynesworth playing three positions: NT, DE, and...drum roll...LB. He also mentioned that Andre Carter would be a LB, but he wouldn't ask him to do so much in coverage like he had to do in SF.

Well that's interesting. Would Haynesworth really be that effective from a speed rush position? I mean, I know he's fast for his size, but is he faster than Orakpo or even Carter when it comes to an outside pass rush? I guess I'm having a hard time envisioning what advantage he would bring from lining up as a LB.

Bring it. Why the hell not? He'd instantly be our best WR, had GREAT on field chemistry with McNabb and would come at a bargain price. If McNabb of all people wants to make it happen...make it happen.

Believe me, you don't want that headache. Washington will have a rebuilding OL, which will give McNabb less time then he had in 2004, McNabb can't escape as well as he could in 2004 and TO can't get as open as he did in 2004. All that means is that they won't be as successful as they were in 2004 and they only lasted 20 games together in 2004-2005 when they were the best QB-WR duo in the game. I do not see this ending well, as long as TO has the same bi-polar like personality he has exhibited most of his career.

There is no way the Eagles would trade up to get the Redskins pick at number 4, for two reasons.1) it would cost too much in the way of draft picks in a very deep draft.2) While they traded an aging McNabb to the Redskins which may help the Redskins for the next 2-4 seasons, they are not going to give the Redskins an additional 2-3 high draft picks which may help the Redskins get 2 Quality starters for the next 6-10 years.The only way I see the Eagles trading up to get Berry is if he falls to around 10, and they can give the price they want at that spot. He may even cost too much at 10.

That makes a lot of sense the way you explain it. I just did not know how badly they wanted Berry, and was kind of hoping it was "really really really bad".

When Mike Shanahan was asked what would happen if Jason Campbell can't be traded, he gave a simple answer: Campbell would return to the Redskins and "work 110 percent." Charley Casserly painted a more complex scenario when he discussed the issue on the Mike Wise Show last week, saying he thinks it's possible the Skins could release Campbell.

"I don't think they're gonna pay him $3 million, and I don't think he's gonna be there, so yeah, I think you could see him released," Casserly said. "They may hold onto him up till training camp, because if he doesn't get hurt, they're not on [the hook] for the contract. Now I think the thing is, Campbell, once he signs the tender - and he may not choose to do this - they can't keep him out of camp. Tennessee tried to do that with McNair, and lost the case.

"So if Jason wanted to force the issue he could come into camp, make it an uncomfortable situation. Now, that's not Jason Campbell's personality to do something like that, but his agent may tell him to do that to force the release. It's something you have to be aware of if you're running the Redskins, and it's a strategy that Campbell has to think about, too.

"But I think what'll happen right now is you go through the draft, see if something happens, go to the beginning of May and see if anything happens with a trade. You know, It's possible a team doesn't get a quarterback may give the Redskins a late pick for next year for him."

He did lineup split out pretty wide on occasion last year and Orakpo would lineup on the inside of him. But, his hand was always on the group. I don't think he ever stood up like a LB would in a 3-4. Belicheck has used stand-up linemen many times, though, causing confusion about who's coming and who's dropping back.
 
The early reports were wrong from what I heard on the radio. The team asked McNabb about bringing in TO and he said he wouldn't be against it. That's a long way from him lobbying for Owens.

Lots to play out the next few days. Depending on the Lions pick, Suh, McCoy, Berry, Okung and Williams are all potential picks by the Skins, and all picks that probably make the team better. Outside chance someone would trade up if Suh or McCoy drop to #4. Potential trades for Campbell. Haynesworth probably staying but could go for the right deal. Unverified rumors about Cooley to NE on some message boards.

The next week should be interesting for Skins fans.

 
Early in minicamp, Mike Shanahan read out a list of rules to his players in a meeting room, covering behavior on and off the practice field. Sunday, when his team was out on the field for a final time, he reviewed the rules -- "reemphasized some of the finer points," one player joked -- and let the Redskins know how they'd done.

"He was telling us, I have a list of 10 guys -- he didn't give any names or numbers or anything - he said there was 10 guys who didn't do this, there were three guys who didn't do this," Will Robinson recalled after the final session. "Apparently, if you don't [follow the rules], you've got to condition, starting next minicamp.....You'll catch yourself running after practice. He just wants you to be accountable and do it right the first time, so you don't have to be punished for not doing it."

So, what are these rules? Some are basic: Run on and off the field. Run to and from the huddle. Run five yards past the ball during drills. If you're a running back, continue the play all the way down the field.

Some are a bit less typical: if you're not on the field, you stand completely behind the ropes, and completely behind the lines. And some are a bit surprising: Shanahan apparently dinged guys for double-parking at Redskins Park, and for parking in handicapped spots

I have no idea what's going on with the media and the Redskins right now. Today, there's a WaPo article about how they might actually still pursue Bradford or some other first-round QB. That's just stupid. I don't know what the WaPo is doing recently and it's all part of the reason that I think all this Haynesworth stuff just isn't true.

While the Rams will dictate a lot with the first pick in Thursday night's opening round, the Redskins will also be keeping a close eye on the Lions at No. 2. I was skeptical of this theory several weeks ago, but it seems increasingly likely that the Lions will take Oklahoma State's Russell Okung at No. 2. That will mean that either Gerald McCoy or Ndamukong Suh will be available when the Redskins are on the clock with the fourth pick.

The Redskins might not need Suh or McCoy, but you can bet some other teams do.

If the draft went 1) Bradford, 2) Suh, 3) McCoy, the Redskins wouldn't likely be hearing from teams eager to move up to No. 4 in order to select Eric Berry or Jimmy Clausen.

But if one of those defensive tackles is still on the board, the Redskins might have a shot to move down and stockpile at least one more early-round pick in the process.

*The Redskins have evaluations on 300 players. Their draft board will be finalized Wednesday night or Thursday morning. Depending on how quickly the first three picks are made, the Redskins will be on the clock around 8:15 p.m.

Director of player personnel Scott Campbell organized the player visits to Redskin Park, and team officials also traveled the country to talk with players on their college campuses.

“Our coaches have done a very good job explaining to our scouts the type of player that fits in our various schemes, whether it’s offense, defense or special teams,” Allen said. “The scouts have done a tremendous job preparing for those meetings, re-evaluating the players based on the criteria we’re looking for.”

*Allen is unsure if owner Dan Snyder will be in the draft room this weekend. Snyder has generally, and the head coach has generally attended the pre-draft press conference – one of the few times each year he would answer questions.

“We want all the ownership to be here because it’s an exciting time for the Redskins,” Allen said. “I’m not sure what he has done before, but I do know he cares about the character of the players we bring in and who will wear the burgundy and gold.”

*Before opening the floor to questions, Allen did have a good one-liner: “Understand I’m not going to get too specific, so don’t get upset – I’m going to attempt to not lie to you all.”

TO was terrible last year, He couldn't get open and he couldn't catch the ball. I don't know about you guys, but I think those are important traits to look for in a WR.

 
Wow, just a swap of 5th round picks for Carricker. Rams move up to the skins spot, Skins move back to the Rams pick that was traded to them by Philly.

No doubt. Especially considering that a month or so ago we were talking about trading him for Carter straight up.Even though there are a lot of projects, castoffs and retreads being signed, I like what they're doing with the DL to allow for the 3-4, especially with this acquisition of Carricker.

That's a lot of bodies and a lot of players in new positions, especially if Carter, Jarmon, and Alexander all end up at OLB.

 
I think we see Andre Carter getting traded soon. I'd like to imagine a 4-3 edge rusher who put up double digit sacks is worth at least a 3rd.

We're going to lead the league in LB's who can't pass cover. When one gets hurt we can just plug in another one to run 3 yards behind TE's.
 
I love the deal, just for the fact that we added potential and didn't break the bank to get it. This is far from the typical over spending deals we got used to seeing (B.Lloyd). Kudos to Allen and finally we see some "proof in the pudding" with have a "real" GM. :thumbup:

Normally I would agree with that value, but unfortunately the value of players seems a bit out of whack these days. One could hope for a 3rd. One has to wonder if DET will trade the 2nd for Fat Al now too, but would love it if Fat Al was traded for Saints LT Jammal Brown (who is supposedly on the block). I doubt Rocky gets dealt as Sims is a better LB and only went for a 5th rounder. Maybe JC can fetch something though...I'd love for the 'Skins to get to get LT J. Brown (NO) or Gaither (BAL), if we could. Oh and of course the hotly debated possible signing of TO...WATCH OUT!!! Movers and shakers might be right!
