Is there any reason to get excited by either of these guys from a fantasy perspective?I think eventually those will flip back...B. Lloyd just has to earn it!

It's a ploy to motivate Brandon Lloyd.
The rumor I heard was Champ was sleeping with the wife of a WaPo reporter. The reporter told Champ to leave town or he'd write a column about it.don't know how true it is, but rumor has it that Champ was screwin around on his wife and got caught. she basically told him to leave Washington or she was out the door. i'm sure there's more to it, but that's the gist of the rumor i read a while back.
Well, Springs is sticking around. I have noticed Rogers and Smoot rotating some with the base 1st team D. Not sure if that is going to be a regular rotation or maybe they are actually battling for the starting spot.With Landry being the starter from week 1, I'd probably bump his tackles up some. I might even lower Taylor's. He's rarely been in the picture the first two preseason games because I assume he's playing so deep.I'd be comfortable with moving almost all of Marshall's stats to Rocky right now.Here goes:Also, anyone want to take a shot at the D?*Notes:1) This assumes Shawn Springs remains on the team (obviously), Marcus Washington is fully recovered from offseason hip surgery, and Smoot is primarily used as the nickel CB (instead of Rogers);Code:Tckl/Ast Sacks FF/FR PD/Int TDDECarter 55/9 9 1/1 2/0 0Daniels 30/12 5 1/1 5/0 0Evans 15/3 3 0/0 2/0 0Green 10/2 2 0/0 0/0 0Wynn 10/1 1 1/0 0/0 0Total: 120/27 20 3/2 9/0 0DTGriffin 55/12 5 1/1 3/0 0Golston 50/15 3 1/1 5/0 0Montgomery 25/10 1 0/1 2/0 0Salave’a 10/3 0 0/0 2/0 0Boschetti 10/2 0 0/0 1/0 0Total: 150/42 9 2/3 13/0 0LBFletcher 105/45 3 2/2 5/2 0Washington 90/30 5 3/2 6/1 0McIntosh 55/20 3 1/1 2/0 0Marshall 25/10 1 0/1 5/2 0Total: 275/105 12 6/6 18/5 0CBSprings 45/5 0 0/0 7/1 0Rogers 45/8 0 1/0 12/1 0Smoot 30/3 0 1/1 5/2 0Butler 15/2 0 0/0 2/0 0Macklin 10/2 0 0/0 1/0 0Total: 145/20 0 2/1 27/4 0STaylor 65/15 1 2/1 10/3 1Landry 65/25 2 2/2 2/0 0Priolieu 35/7 1 1/0 3/0 0Stoutmire 20/3 0 1/0 0/0 0Total: 175/50 4 5/3 15/3 1TOTALS: 865/244 45 18/15 82/12 1

La Canfora is reporting Joe Salave'a is getting cut today, too, along with Pete Schmidt and Jason McAddley.ETA: Looks like McAddley is actually going on IR along with Ross Tucker. Link. The team released six players yesterday and must trim four to reach the 75-player limit by today's 4 p.m. deadline. Cornerback Jerametrius Butler, defensive end Jamaal Green, linebacker Kevin Jones, wide receivers Jerel Myers and Todd Pinkston and defensive tackle Bryant Shaw were cut
I'd definitely grab them as a #2. The additions to the starting lineup of Fletcher, McIntosh and Landry, along with the renewed health of the DL has really seemed to give the whole D an added spark that was often missing last year.I (a homer) think they easily have the potential to be a top 10 FF DT, and as a #2 on a fantasy roster, you can always shuffle them with whatever pops up on the waiver wire if they don't pan out.No 'Skins homers here? I need to grab a 2nd D and the pickin's are slim.
A DT2 in a 12-team league could be as low as the 24th best DT. I don't think it's risky to think the Skins could be at least 24th.Taking them as a second D is pretty risky at this point, IMHO.
Well, we get points for points allowed and yards allowed, so it's not just turnovers I'm interested in. Sounds like they're worth taking a shot at. My other choices are SF, NO, STL, NYG, KC, HOU, TB, AZ, TEN, DET, CLE and CINSylira21 said:The Skins' first team D has looked good all preseason. Last year's numbers do look like an anomoly, as they are so out of line with what Williams' defense did the first two years. McIntosh looks like a beast, Landry has looked solid, and the Skins could have one of the better secondaries in the league.However...They still don't have a pass rush. And they really did nothing to address the line, hoping for improvement from some young players. Salavea being released indicates the coaches are satisfied with the young guys, but it still seems very thin and rather untalented to me.They also set a league record in futility for turnovers forced last year, and had barely a sack per game. They may end up being a pretty good defense for the real-life purpose of winning games, but they stunk to high heavens from a fantasy perspective last year.Taking them as a second D is pretty risky at this point, IMHO. Of course, it depends on your other choices.
Heh, that's not an awe-inspiring group. Skins are worth a shot in that territory, at least based on preseason so far, and if you're not relying on tornovers and sacks exclusively. My biggest fear is that Springs gets hurt again, the pass rush stays dormant, and Carlos Rogers gets repeatedly toasted once more. I saw in the paper today that on 3rd down last year, passers against Washington had a 107.9 passer rating. That's just sick. But they really have looked better this preseason.Well, we get points for points allowed and yards allowed, so it's not just turnovers I'm interested in. Sounds like they're worth taking a shot at. Makes me sad, too, but at least you have to like the progress of the younger guys.Salave'a ---- from out of nowhere, one hell of a seasons, and an apostrophe to boot!If they're cutting Salave'a, that makes me sad. I always liked him. It probably also means, however, that Golston and Montgomery are impressing people.
You might want to consider TEN. They're half of the official FBG defense handcuff (with MIN). Even if you don't have MIN they appear to have several tasty matchups IIRC.Heh, that's not an awe-inspiring group. he gets about $14 million to sign and a max of around $30 million over the life of the thing. The base salary is the vet. min for the first two years of the deal, so his cap number rises on the proration and that's about it for 2007.
Awesome news for 'Skins fans. Cooley has rather quietly become one of the best TE's in the league, and he's doubly valuable on a team with questionable depth and overall talent at WR.he gets about $14 million to sign and a max of around $30 million over the life of the thing. Wow. They must really believe in those young guys on the line.I'm hoping that extra spot (they cut down to 52) is reserved for a DL pickup. Maybe a promising young guy like Quentin Moses?fatness said:Renaldo Wynn and (sob) Ade Jimoh were cut.

Most of the cuts were expected, and Wynn's departure continued a trend toward youth on the defensive line, though the timing caught him and his teammates by surprise. "I wish it could have happened sooner," Wynn said.
Several rookies made the roster despite long odds, including undrafted tackle Stephon Heyer (Maryland), undrafted running back Marcus Mason (Georgetown Prep) and undrafted defensive end Chris Wilson, from Division II Northwood University. The roster is at 52 players, with one open spot that seems to be earmarked for a wide receiver, and additional transactions are likely next week.
A youth movement continued on defense, with Wynn, 32, and former stalwarts Lemar Marshall and Joe Salave'a all released in the past two weeks. Wynn had the longest tenure of any remaining defensive player (linebacker Khary Campbell is the only defensive player here continuously since before this staff arrived), and was a willing mentor and friend to all corners of the locker room.
With ample veterans ahead of them, this was a tough roster for youngsters to crack, and only two of their 2007 draft picks made the roster (first-round pick safety LaRon Landry and sixth-round pick linebacker H.B. Blades).
The Redskins are perusing the waiver wire for possible wide receivers, with veterans Keenan McCardell and Clarence Moore among the possibilities. . . .
Leigh Torrence beat out veteran Ade Jimoh for the fifth cornerback spot, defensive tackle Lorenzo Alexander made the team after being on the practice squad last season and Eric Edwards, who played previously for Arizona, took the third tight end spot.
Omar Stoutmire is a play maker. Doughty always arrives late to the play. How they kept Doughty over Stoutmire is a mystery to me.
I'm disappointed that they didn't trade away Brunell recently. Not much of a surprise, to me at least, but Collins was named QB2. Brunell is QB3.
I was thinking he should have been cut. The proper move was to keep Bramlett as the 3rd stringer and have collins back up Campbell. Skins biggest problem is that they don't have anybody working for them who is a proven talent evaluator.THey had very few draft picks and at least 2 of the guys drafted didn' t make the team. Conversely, the good teams in the NFL regularly draft guys in the late rounds who work out. The other problem is coaching. Sorry but the current Joe is not the hall of famer we know and loved. What we have now is a CEO who does little more than manage a bunch of overpaid assistants(Greg Williams aside). It's like B mitch said earlier today, Gibbs is allowing the current Redskins players to do things that he never would have allowed the first time around(such as letting players decide if they are healthy enough to play. So, you have guys who are hurt but not injured taking the day off). Undisciplined would best describe this team. That's the coaching. They may end up being half way decent this year because of the D. I have hope but very little confidence in this coaching staff.I'm disappointed that they didn't trade away Brunell recently. Not much of a surprise, to me at least, but Collins was named QB2. Brunell is QB3.
You're wish is my command. Check out the 2008 thread.Well what a rollercoaster year this was! Will Joe sign a conctract extension? Will we resign Todd Collins? DC Thunder it's time for a 2008 version!!
