Yes- put me in the camp of guys that did not want to see him go. We had enough juice in the lineup and Rowand was a young player that was coming around in 2005. We have half the strength (that brought us a WS) up the middle on the Phils. It is what it is but it sucks big time. That boy is tearing it up this year and is no slounch in center field. What ever happend to Ozzie ball? The fact that small ball was the key to the offense in the 2005 season gave Kenny Boy the idea to start to break that up? I think that I heard Ozzie cry about how the team was a "softball" team last year. This makes no sense. The old saying"if it isn't broke- don't fix it". They won when they went out and put players in there that set the table and if you think that guys like Pods and Tad were not the keys to the offense that year you can have at it. Konerko and Dye were paid to pump the ball out but who did they drive in? How many one run games did the club win that year? You think they were winning those 1 run games by hitting HRs? How soon Sox fans forget the importance of Ozzie Ball. It was an attitude on the team to do the little things to get them on and get them over- bunt, sacrifice, hit and run and steal bases- play solid defense and get the great pitching. Hit HRs as well and this was compliments of the top of the order setting the table and putting defenses and opposing pitchers on their heels.Here is a nice exchange:

Willie Harris greeted Brad Lidge with a leadoff single in the eighth. Scott Podsednik bunted him to second. Dye bounced a single up the middle to score him...

This is what brought the hardware home. Another 1 run win in game 4 as the best that the NL Central offered was swept in the WS.....

Without this formula it would have been 2000 playoffs all over again. They did not play the Go Go White Sox every damn game for no reason and I will tell you that your Cubs will sink faster than Limpy boy's ego if they cannot play this style of baseball. It all came together that year- pitching, clutch hitting and defense but without Ozzie Ball it was not going to be. It is there for the history- Ozzie Ball brought us to 35-19 in one-run games and that is just amazing but some soon forget....

Yes- put me in the camp of guys that did not want to see him go. We had enough juice in the lineup and Rowand was a young player that was coming around in 2005. We have half the strength (that brought us a WS) up the middle on the Phils. It is what it is but it sucks big time. That boy is tearing it up this year and is no slounch in center field. What ever happend to Ozzie ball? The fact that small ball was the key to the offense in the 2005 season gave Kenny Boy the idea to start to break that up? I think that I heard Ozzie cry about how the team was a "softball" team last year. This makes no sense. The old saying"if it isn't broke- don't fix it". The Phils are surging and Rowand is a huge part of this. We blow right now- maybe it will be better next year. I like to say that the big mouths on the radio here can go on and on about how this guy is overrated but they are wrong. I would take him in center field right now but maybe we can get him back next year? Who knows- are we rebuilding? In keeping with his consistent meddlings on the club- Kenny Boy once again had the stroke of genius to send Tad packing for an order of French fries and a single A pitcher. The thing I always look at is how a player picks his game up once he moves to another team (a contending team at that). This tells me either the player was just dialing it in on the lousy team and/or the lousy team was just a bad place to be. Tad looks like a different player on the Phils. He looks like the guy we had in 2005. It is still early but his game is picking up. We got the wrong guy off the team. Uribe is the stiff that must go but we had this young stud in the minors that was waiting to take over second base. So we shipped off a good player so we could take a look at a good young player. OK- that's cool.

Konerko and Dye were paid to pump the ball out but who did they drive in? How many one run games did the club win that year? You think they were winning those 1 run games by hitting HRs? How soon Sox fans forget the importance of Ozzie Ball. It was an attitude on the team to do the little things to get them on and get them over- bunt, sacrifice, hit and run and steal bases- play solid defense and gt the great pithing. Hit HRs as well and this was compliments of the top of the order setting the table and putting defenses and opposing pitchers on their heels.Here is a nice exchange:

This is what brought the hardware home. Another 1 run win in game 4 as the best that the NL Central offered was swept in the WS.....

I was raised a Cubs fan by my father from early on in life. Back in the days when I believed everything he told me, just like everyone else does with their father. Do you still believe everything your father told you as the truth when you were a kid?

Do you still believe in Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny and the big invisible man in the sky that makes everything possible? I know damn well that he was wrong about at least two of those things and I stopped believing in them when I saw the light. So why would who I root for in a baseball team be any different or worse? 30 years of pain and suffering was enough and in 2000, when my son was born, I made a decision, that I've stood firmly by through thick and thin, and that was to be a Sox fan. I'm a grown man and learned from my mistakes as well as my father's. And learning from those mistakes brought change. That change has allowed me to laugh instead of cry in October of 2003 and raise champagne and lite a cigar in 2005. It's one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life and at least I have the stones to make a decision like that.
