***OFFICIAL WIS XIV DRAFT THREAD*** (1 Viewer)

which team are you rooting for?
Can't pick one ... I'm just letting it play out and not worrying about the outcome. The LCS's were ridiculous. Was down 0-2 in both (and 0-3 in the ALCS). I've seen 0-2 overcome in these sims, but not sure about 0-3 ... I think someone else did it before.

Sorry I didn't give the Pelicans enough love.
In relative terms, I think you actually got it right -- the Blackened Voodoo is a much stronger squad than the Pelicans, statistically. Both teams can hit, but the Voodoo are a little better at bat. On top of that, the Voodoo have top-3 pitching, while the Pelicans pitching is hovering around league average.
My opinions on the two teams held up in a best-of-seven series -- the Blackened Voodoo have just beaten the Pelicans 4 games to 1....

Gotta give a lot of props to RnR for proposing this type of league and seeing it through. First-year-only was something we've tossed around for a few years now, and it usually got rejected in the end because it seemed like it was too hard to research. Turns out it was not too much trouble to research at all. I learned a lot about the sim, too ... building the kinds of teams I'd have never built in our usual formats. Didn't learn that much about balancing & managing fatigue in our other sims because of the glut of ABs and IPs we always had. WIS XIV was a totally different experience, and a lot of fun.

Mitchell Page, an outfielder for the Oakland A's in the late '70s and early '80s, died Saturday night of unknown causes. He was 59 years old.Nicknamed "The Swingin' Rage" by then-A's broadcaster Monte Moore, Mr. Page was a revelation when he broke into the big leagues in 1977, with people commenting that he had the deepest voice they'd ever heard. He was part of an eclectic roster in his rookie season, featuring Manny Sanguillen, Dock Ellis, Bob Lacey, Earl Williams and **** Allen, among others. It was Allen, playing his last big-league season, who pegged Mr. Page as "a future star with a ton of talent" after he hit .307 with 21 homers and 75 RBIs and won the Sporting News AL Rookie of the Year award.
RIP

Damn. Page was a pretty good hitting coach for the Cardinals in the 2000s. I heard he had a drinking issue, though, and that's why he was let go.
