Going to pats game :banned: Assuming it gets to me, I may or may not reply to texts, worst case I'll drunk pick tonight. No list, I had one together but it's been picked apart by recent picks. No list anti jinx in affect. :nerd:
Trade me Walter Johnson and it's all good.

Thought we had a chance for a late weekend run here, but looks like we are hung up on LB. Church should end any min, right?

Snake handling churches usually make it an all-day affair. We could be looking at sometime tomorrow, provided he is spared by the serpent.

Shocking that LB is holding us upETA: Above vitriol brought to you by TU, not logging out on my account. I would never berate a kind, dragon loving soul like LB for killing the draft. At least not twice in an evening.

1912 or 13? Leaning 13(heavily), HR rate the only Dig
Depends on park. I like the 30 extra innings you get from 1912.

How about...

2.22 - Cy Young, SP Boston Red Sox/Americans

Stadium: Sportsman's Park III, St Louis, MO
During his tryout, Young impressed the scouts, recalling years later, "I almost tore the boards off the grandstand with my fast ball." Cy Young's nickname came from the fences that he had destroyed using his fastball. The fences looked like a cyclone had hit them. Reporters later shortened the name to "Cy", which became the nickname Young used for the rest of his life.

By habit, Young restricted his practice throws in spring training. "I figured the old arm had just so many throws in it", said Young, "and there wasn't any use wasting them." Young once described his approach before a game:

"I never warmed up ten, fifteen minutes before a game like most pitchers do. I'd loosen up, three, four minutes. Five at the outside. And I never went to the bullpen. Oh, I'd relieve all right, plenty of times, but I went right from the bench to the box, and I'd take a few warm-up pitches and be ready. Then I had good control. I aimed to make the batter hit the ball, and I threw as few pitches as possible. That's why I was able to work every other day."
Babe Ruth in Sportsman's Park:
Left-handed power hitters enjoyed hitting here. Stan Musial benefited from playing the home-team half of his entire career here. Other sluggers took advantage, notably Babe Ruth, who hit three homers in a World Series game on two different occasions, both of them here, in 1926 and 1928. When facing the Browns during the regular season, Ruth also hit well here. On one occasion he drove one across Grand Boulevard that shattered the window of a car dealership. The owner had the glass replaced by the next day, just in time for Ruth to shatter it again. On another occasion, Ruth launched one into his straightaway-center power zone that landed behind the center field bleachers, some 500 feet from home plate.

Arky Vaughan SS pirates

On my phone please pm next for me
1. Despite leaving his home state of Arkansas before his first birthday, one of Floyd Vaughan's schoolmates tagged the future ballplayer with the moniker "Arky"2. Bill James called him the 2nd best shortstop in major league history when the New Historical Abstract came out in 2001. (A-Rod might argue that point now)

3. Although he was third in National League MVP voting behind Gabby Hartnett and Dizzy Dean, Vaughan was named Player of the Year by The Sporting News. His 1935 season has been called the best ever by a shortstop other than Honus Wagner. (A-Rod might argue that point too)

4. After leaving the Seals, Vaughan bought a ranch in Eagleville, California where he retired to fish, hunt and tend cattle. On August 30, 1952, Vaughan was fishing in nearby Lost Lake, with his friend Bill Wimer. According to a witness, Wimer stood up in the boat, causing it to capsize, and both men drowned, and their bodies were recovered the next day. Vaughan was 40.

5. 9-time NL All-Star (1934-1942)

6. 3-time NL On-Base Percentage Leader (1934-1936)

7. Despite the fact that he holds their single-season records for AVG and OBP, and had a .324 AVG and 1700 hits for the Pirates during his career, the Pirates never retired Arky's number. Mostly because he wore #21 for most of his career.

8. Because of point #7, you could argue that the 2 greatest Pirates ever to wear a uniform number both wore #21. The Pirates retired 33 for Honus Wagner because he wore it as a coach, but he never wore a number as a player. (I'm not sure I'd put Arky #2 or even Clemente #1, but that's a discussion for another day)

9. Family conducted letter writing campaign to reach out to valiant supporter, Koya, who had sponsored Arky's baseball-reference.com page. Within two (or so) years of such efforts, Arky was finally, and deservedly, elected into the HOF.

3.03 - Vida Blue, SP Athletics

Blue battled drug addiction, "fat lines of cocaine", over the course of his career. After the 1983 season, he and former teammates Willie Wilson, Jerry Martin and Willie Aikens pleaded guilty to attempting to purchase cocaine. In 1985, he testified in the Pittsburgh drug trials. His troubles with substance abuse seem to haunt this former great pitcher, as he faced multiple DUI charges in 2005
