OFFICIAL WIS XVIII THREAD: An Ode to Claude Hendrix (1 Viewer)

Larry, do you have autism or a form of Aspergers? Serious question.

Help us understand why you're so damn inconsiderate. If it's a mental problem, then mea culpa. But help us understand why you are, well, you.
And how would you feel if he did have an issue? Would that make it ok? Should he have to tell us all of that for us to treat him nice?

Asking if someone has mental health issues really is over the line.
Ok, let's all step back from the ledge. I agree that the mental issue line of questioning is a bit over the line, but a WIS without some sort of MELTDOWN is not a WIS at all. And I don't think most of us think Larry is a bad guy, just really, really inconsiderate. Repeatedly, like years worth. Doesn't mean he's the worst guy ever, but goodness, it can be a bit frustrating.

I mean, we like to get on each other for picking Luis Tiant. A repeated ignorance that you are inconveniencing others, while you are actually, inconveniencing them (or just don't care that you do)? Expect to get called out for it.

If I laugh, 'tis that I may not weep.
I guess I did overstep my boundaries a little bit with questioning larry's mental health. I get it, it's a taboo issue.

But what if I were in a softball league and I was late for every single game. Once in a while would probably be understandable, and if there were substantial issues that kept me from being at our team's games on time, then I guess it'd be understandable. But if I were late just for the hell of it, I'd get kicked out off the team in a heartbeat.

But larry himself has admitted that he's late because he thinks this thing is barely worth his time/energy. So if he's late and causes the whole thing to stop for an hour every time he's up, then he doesn't care because we're not worth his time apparently.

Maybe I read him wrong. Maybe he's just arrogant.
I get it. I wasnt trying to call any one person out or even just single out this instance. I just got the feeling that Larry was starting to not enjoy the poking. If we dont like him holding up the drafts, then we dont let him in the league. If we let him in, we are acknowledging that its ok for him to do what he does, plain and simple.

Sorry if I went off on a rant earlier, was not my intention.

I'm late because stuff happens. In case you haven't noticed (as i tried to point out to Doctor D), I haven't been on in the morning a lot. Its not an inconsiderate thing, its just what happens.

I'm late normally because when I'm working (I'm not at the moment, I'm just busy away from the computer), I have a job that suddenly takes me away without notice (I'm basically an operator, just with computers). So I might have a pick ready to go and then suddenly get a ridiculous, obnoxious, angry person on the phone whining about how their computer won't work, and I have to spend 30 minutes explaining to them how to turn the stupid thing on (it happens).

Its not inconsiderate, its just life. I can't email lists every time I go away because its not something scheduled, I don't have meetings, I don't have schedules, I just have when a phone rings and I'm stuck on it until the call is over, no web access. And now, I just have a wife that needs me to get stuff done for her and so I'm not always able to check as much as I like (and the last few days have figured I'd be here around 11, but it ended up being noon).

I just don't say anything because I've had peope on me since before the first draft. any excuse I make or explanation I give would do nothing but give people more ammunition, so I shut up and ignore it because I enjoy the drafting and the sim game.

17.18 - Pie Traynor, 3B, 1920s

Fills 2 needs for me. Great defensive replacement/occasional starter at 3B for Killebrew and a 20s guy.

Rodg/Sparty thanks for making picks for me. After the next name on the list go ahead and disregard. If it gets back to me after that pick please skip and I will catchup either Friday/Saturday. Thanks.

Wow, worst ive ever done in one of these (not that I usually do all that well). Then again, not feeling it this go around in any case.

oof, not even 100 points closer to the next guy

Looks like I am the stepping stone
You're in Safeco with solid pitching and better than average defense ... your squad will compete. Offense-suppressing fields are a great equalizer in these things.

What brings your J-Ranking down so much, basically, is low team OBP and SLG. With your home stadium, it's good to be able to rely on walks because Safeco suppress base hits so much. See the way SoCal built his squad for Target Field with several OBP freaks.

Good info to know for next time. Although an on base % of 41% for the team doesnt seem that bad to me. Guess I need to check other teams

Also, while obviously jfranco is the most accomplished WIS player here it's not the only successful approach. SCBF seems to outperform rankings and he builds from pitching. I've outperformed and usually build for a lineup ( ie I have a leadoff guy with no pop but lots of on base which has worked in the past).

That said I have a feeling I'll be worse than usual here though (hopefully) not bottom of the barrel).
