OFFICIAL WIS XVIII THREAD: An Ode to Claude Hendrix (3 Viewers)

The Nipsey drafting Cy Young shtick back in the day was pretty funny though

How many Cy Young's has your guy won?

This may be a reach. This may be a good pick. I honestly don't know, but I'm confident enough in his + stats to roll the dice.

Sing it with me now. You know you want to.

BENNY!

Sparty just texted that he's stuck in a blizzard without internet. Gonna try to get the pick via text...
Oof.

If that has to happen, best that it happens in the first round.

...

Cold Weather Guys -- does having satellite Internet service (HughesNet or similar) allow for blizzard-resistant web surfing, assuming no power outage? Or does the snow affect those dishes the way thunderstorms do  ?

Had it for a while and, while I hated it, I don't remember it being flaky in storms. But it's been almost 9 years and I had it for a short time, so

I kind of assumed it was 1890. So the first decade is 1890-99 and the last is 2000-09.
Ditto.

FWIW, I eventually did that simple statistical analysis about the 1890-1892 guys that I mentioned two weeks or so ago. No outliers or special cookies in those years, neither for batters or pitchers. Just a few extra guys, really.

Heavy snow will indeed affect it

I really don't get the need to cut off years of a decade. Why don't we shave off the last half of the 90s if we're so worried about outliers?

The games happened, people.

One thing I find interesting is that the Federal batters don't take much of a normalization hit at all.

Just started watching the Burns Baseball. Thanks
No spoilers
I learned something in the first 5 minutes, trolley dodgers.

Makes sense now
Aside from the fact that there are no trolleys in Los Angeles. Not many lakes either for that matter, you'd think for a town that's one of the world's creative centers they could do better than stealing the names of teams they have co-opted.

ETA - everything would have really worked out just fine if the Dodgers had gone to San Francisco and the Giants to LA.

LA was a streetcar (trolley) town until the second half of last century.

1914 Federal League runs per game was about 6% higher than the two major leagues. In 1915, there was no significant difference.

Was a real toss-up for me between Gibson and Carlton. Opted for the more innings and the fact that I thought the 70s weren't as deep in this format.

All kidding aside, it's a bit rude and hardly the first time.

Larry, if you are going to hold things up at least let us know. It's terribly inconsiderate to have us all waiting, see you active on the site and then not post.
