Good defense, great OBP and performs well (generally) in the sim.

Im going to be away for awhile. My dads been in the hospital for awhile and took a turn for the worse. They are saying days, if that. Heading our of town. Ill pick when I can.

11.14 - Roger Wolff, SP 1940s

Was a knuckleballer. Made $8,000 in 1945.

Also hit .107. :puke:

Noticed my boy Scott Stratton hit .323 with a .385 OBP. Really hope he's usable!

Sorry to hear that, hoos ... thought and prayers for you & yours.

If you want, the house can make good picks for your squad so that you can ignore this trivial diversion as long as necessary.

Agreed.

Thoughts and prayers GB.

Probably should wait on this pick or go another direction, but I just can't pass up those sideburns.

11.16 George Foster, OF 70's

eta: I didn't text Hoos. Figured real life more important and didn't want to bother him.

This is the point of the draft where I don't know if a guy will drop five more rounds or get sniped in the next few picks. So much is need and decade, it's hard to judge.

Some positions and decades have such depth you can be assured of getting say 90% of the production even if a couple guys in that decade/position get picked.

We need to do what we can to help him out here. No reason to run through his clock since he's going to be traveling, but if he falls behind we should probably let him make several picks at once to catch up and maybe even get ahead a round or two to keep him from getting buried. Let's skip for now and see what his access is like going forward.

T&P to your dad, Hoos.

Foster was my backup plan when Puckett was picked. I may have to go back to no lists.

Still not sure about this team. Playing in Wrigley I hope to hit a lot of homers and not give up many, but I don't know if that will work "in this format". We will see.

11.18 - Tiny Bonham, P, 1940s

Not sure yet if I'll use his 1940 out of the bullpen or his 42 as a starter. Like both and the flexibility, plus the 40s is getting pretty dang thin.

Those are the kinds of teams I always used to build. Guaranteed to win 88 games and lose to someone playing in Pac Bell in the first round of the playoffs. I'm trying something different this time, but I don't know if it's working any better.

I'm building off the approach I did last time which seemed to work after my long slump. Unfortunately I'm not ecstatic about where I decided to jump in some runs so we have to see. I'm judging players a bit different than in the past, though

It's also the kind of team I always build, and I usually win 88 games and lose in the first round of the playoffs. But I'm stubborn so I'm sticking to it.

Anyone ever get a Dougb number? It's a little weird to me that someone has been in 15+ of these things has never wanted a text notification.
One of the drafts I was going to be in utah visiting family and this was before phones that had the internet so I gave him my number so he could text me. He called me every time I was up. I don't think Doug is much of a texter.
Creepy.
I'd like to hear more about this. What did Doug B sound like? Could you tell he was wearing a :bowtie: ? Did he say things that you could tell would be bolded if he was typing them?
Cajun-y. Yes. Yes.

Haven't you won it all twice?
