OFFICIAL WIS XVIII THREAD: An Ode to Claude Hendrix (2 Viewers)

Larry, do you have autism or a form of Aspergers? Serious question.

Help us understand why you're so damn inconsiderate. If it's a mental problem, then mea culpa. But help us understand why you are, well, you.
And how would you feel if he did have an issue? Would that make it ok? Should he have to tell us all of that for us to treat him nice?

Asking if someone has mental health issues really is over the line.

Good thing Hoos told us about his father. I can just imagine ripping on him and then having him tell us his dad died.

The sad thing is, he shouldnt have to tell us that his father is dying. That is a pretty private thing.

17.06 P Ed Siever 1900s

First real star in Detroit Tigers franchise history!!!!

Halfway through his first full season, 1906, Cobb came down with what his manager, Bill Armour, called a "stomach illness," causing him to miss several weeks while resting in Detroit. He may have undergone surgery to remove an ulcer during this time, but there has never been conclusive evidence one way or the other. The emotional strain from the Tigers had done him in, in only his second season. When he returned, relations with McIntyre did not improve. During the first game of a doubleheader in St. Louis on October 6, he and McIntyre argued over who should catch a fly ball, while the ball landed between them and the batter, George Stone, circled the bases for an inside-the-park home run, with Cobb and McIntyre arguing the entire time. The pitcher, Ed Siever, bawled Cobb out in the clubhouse, and later attacked Cobb in the hotel lobby. Cobb floored Siever with a right and pounded on him while he lay on the ground. Cobb supposedly stayed awake all night in his Pullman berth with his gun on his lap during that night's train ride to Chicago.

I'd probably feel bad if he did.

Folks make fun of my line of work all the time, but I just take it in stride. We'll see who gets an invite to my "tasty pastry" WIS party after my boys bring home the championship.

Kinda scared of how bad my offense is going to be. Still have half a catcher to draft and half a 3B to draft.

5118 PA's, .372 / .453 / .511

Only 64 HR's among my starters. Scary when compared to the rest of the teams. However, only 263 K's total on my team. That like 1 season of Adam Dunn.

Pitching-wise, I am happy. I have 4 starters and still need at least one more reliever and a long/mop-up guy.

1400 IP 1.72 ERA. .193 OAV, 0.90 WHIP, 0.40 HR/9

Pretty sure I am going to be last in the league in runs scored, unfortunately.

If we're stalled for the night I may need to leave a list for the morning. Any takers?

I also still have SNClist but so does rodg and he's way more on top of #### than I am.

Happy to take lists :)

WIS XVIII shtick looking like its going to be strong commishing and feelings

Ok, let's all step back from the ledge. I agree that the mental issue line of questioning is a bit over the line, but a WIS without some sort of MELTDOWN is not a WIS at all. And I don't think most of us think Larry is a bad guy, just really, really inconsiderate. Repeatedly, like years worth. Doesn't mean he's the worst guy ever, but goodness, it can be a bit frustrating.

I mean, we like to get on each other for picking Luis Tiant. A repeated ignorance that you are inconveniencing others, while you are actually, inconveniencing them (or just don't care that you do)? Expect to get called out for it.

If I laugh, 'tis that I may not weep.

Wait, I'm actually up? ####, gonna need a few. Just back from work.

I guess I did overstep my boundaries a little bit with questioning larry's mental health. I get it, it's a taboo issue.

But what if I were in a softball league and I was late for every single game. Once in a while would probably be understandable, and if there were substantial issues that kept me from being at our team's games on time, then I guess it'd be understandable. But if I were late just for the hell of it, I'd get kicked out off the team in a heartbeat.

But larry himself has admitted that he's late because he thinks this thing is barely worth his time/energy. So if he's late and causes the whole thing to stop for an hour every time he's up, then he doesn't care because we're not worth his time apparently.

Maybe I read him wrong. Maybe he's just arrogant.
