I was really praying the OP was going to make an analogy how the women deserved equal pay
It would have sparked an MoP Fury like no other...

Does the wnba have a lottery? Because Indiana could get the top pick and put Paige Bueckers next to Clark. Could be over for the league for a while if that happens.
They dNo have a lottery. Washington Mystics still without a win; so, they are looking at the basement too.
WNBA gotta rig that like Stern did for Ewing

They rigged Ewing because of NY. It may not make business sense to pack a small market team.

They may have to go old school like the NHL did to get Gretzky out of Edmonton and to LA and move Clark to a bigger market (if she turns out to be an extraordinary talent in the next couple of years).
I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem like the WNBA is as major market driven as other leagues.

I mean, there are only 12 teams and they have teams in Connecticut, Indiana, Vegas, and Minnesota.
Meanwhile, no Houston, Philly, Boston, Denver and only 1 team in California. Not a single team in Florida.
I thought there was a Miami team?

There was a Miami team for a few years between 2000 and 2002. They folded due to financial problems.

One of the reasons many people think the WNBA is more wide spread than it currently is, is due to so many teams folding and or moving over the years.

I could see Miami getting back in the mix soon. Expansion talks heating up with a plan to get to 18 teams by 2028. Golden State got a team in October. Toronto just got approved for 2026 (maybe I'm an idiot, but I really have no idea how Toronto makes sense for a league that was losing money and flying commercial up until a month ago). Seems like proving the concept would make sense before going international.

Expansion is great for the opportunities it will open up, but I hope they are careful.

It was probably coincidental but years ago MLS was in this same spot of trying to figure out where to expand as they could barely give away teams for pocket change. At that time they took a chance on Toronto and sold them an expansion team for only $10m.

That same Toronto team is now worth over $700m.

So hard to pick a favorite team because they are all so damn likable.

I never root for great teams, but the Aces have a Duncan era Spurs feel to them. And I simply cannot ever root against Jackie Young. Plum is their Manu, and somehow they just pluck a Kate Martin with the 18th pick.

Lynx are so fun. Collier is battling her *** off. Back to back games of her laying it all out trying to compete with MVP's. I think she sums up what's so great about this League. She's going to be top 5 in MVP voting. And she wears knee pads because she's going to be going to the court chasing loose balls so much.

Courtney WIlliams and Microwave McBride are also impossible to root against.

I also can't root against the Sky, Sun or Mercury. Gotta love the Fever and Mystics too.

What a fun league.

Clark played every minute in another blow out loss last night.

20 points on 6-20 shooting. 9 assists, 7 turnovers

I believe this was the first home game that did not sell out, but it was close.

Saturday the Fever host the Sky in what should be Cardoso's 1st game.

I assume that one's definitely going to sell out.

They only tickets I see available look like resale tickets so I guess it already is sold out.

Portland would welcome a WNBA team. The Portland Thorns sell out every game it seems.

And if Portland were to land a team and finagle a deal for Sabrina, I can guarantee the home games would sell out. Sabrina could run for Gov in this state while playing for New York and win. She's incredibly beloved and popular here.

FBGs should put an ownership group together and get an expansion team before things really take off! With all the money we've made off wheat pennies and NFTs, most of us are rolling in :moneybag: by now.

Gotta say I didn't think I'd be watching women's basketball much but here I am.

Heard they are trying to bring Clark to a game at Texas stadium next year.

She’s gotta start defending herself or it’s gonna get worse.
I don't know if she has it in her. Not all athletes do.

However, Marty McSorley carved out a long career to do pretty much nothing but make sure no one ****ed with the great one.

I am sure there must be a Martina McSorley out there some where.

I do REALLY hate that not a single teammate did anything. That was a bad look for so many involved with the league.

What a trash league. Clark is THE reason why these women are now all flying better and gonna be making more money, and they are crapping all over her. No one expects them to treat her with kid gloves, but this kind of treatment is pathetic. And the reasons are more than obvious, and probably don't need to be said.

What an effing game! Finally caught up.

Boston banging with Cardoso was so awesome.

Sky are going to be so freaking good at some point.

I'm not going to read the last few comments. This is a great league in a great moment. No reason to get sidetracked by that BS.

Fever have some very good players, just not much depth. Boston, Mitchell, Smith and Clark are so good.

We're all way too old to imagine this scenario....

But imagine you've been at your job 10 years. Working your *** off, doing well. All of a sudden some hot shot comes out of college and every body is saying they will save the company. They still don't even know their ******* from a hole in the ground.

You're not a little bit irritated?

Vets are handling it fine. Clark is handling it fine.

Move on and just enjoy some great basketball.

Boston, Mitchell, Smith, and Clark are still figuring it out. They literally still haven't practiced together. 1/4 of the way through the season.

They've had the toughest schedule in league history. 10 games in 20 days with most of them being against elite teams. Playing a rookie 48 minutes every night.

Sky and Fever both in a though spot, but both will be really good, I think.

Cennedy Carter is awesome. She just had a moment. She got carried away and hip-checked somebody.

We're not used to that sort of thing because we mostly watch sports played by millionaires making business decisions.

Us old farts have just gotten soft.

It definitely is something that shouldn't be in the game. Does the WNBA not review that type of stuff like the NBA would?

That said, Caitlin was jawing with her before that and the hit didn't seem nearly as hard and the fall made it look.

Fever got the win through all that distraction, much to the dismay of the Sky moneyline bet.

Oh, it was terrible. Shouldn't be in the game.
I thought she should have gotten ejected.

Just commenting on the pearl clutching.

A player that gives a damn got carried away. It happens.
