Maybe this win will finally stop all the Red Sox fans complaining about how much the Yankees spend on payroll. This team is just as bad.

They are a good team though and deserved to win the Series. Wish it would have went longer. I miss baseball already.

 
Poor Lowell - it's almost a curse to be the MVP - he can't celebrate with his teammates and has to go on the field and look at the 2 crappy cars he just won...

I guarantee you his WS shares are WAY more than those cars are worth.

 
I'm psyched that Lester got a World Series win. What a comeback story for him. And Kielty with such a huge home run. That's got to be the best feeling in the world for a guy who took a back seat here.

Happy as hell for Lester. Same for Kielty - hell the whole team. Well, OK, Gagne... naaaah, he gets a pass for keeping the blood pressure up.

Good call on Kielty. He went from being cut by the A's to signed to a ML contract by BOS, to hitting the game winning HR in the clinching game of the WS

I'm surprised we haven't heard from Schilling yet.

I'm not sure if I'm unhappy/happy about it. Let's just say I'm surprised.

Would have rather seen Buchholz on the roster than Gagne. He could have done everything that Gagne did in the playoffs and then some
 
I don't know why but when they were just showing the Sox shaking the champaign bottles, for a second I expected to see Derek Lowe put out of the corner double fisting and screaming into the camera.

Well, I don't have the link. Thought it was foxsports. After the ALCS they had a stream up with 4-5 analysts talking for about an hour after the game. Didn't bother with it in the WS.

Did Mr. James also mention they are controlled by the poorest owners in Baseball. Just before the All Star break they talked about lowering payroll. They were very close to a fire sale and unloading Holiday - who BTW has the same agent as A-Rod. Looks like Tulo got exposed in this Series and he has a good chance to fade as teams get wise on how to pitch him. The last two nights showed Fuentes breaking down, just like he did earlier this year. They were a Gwynn jr. triple away from finishing third in the West. With the Dodgers also having young talent, better pitching and money they will soon fall behind them. Only the Giants will be able to keep them out of last - and they have some pitchers and no problem spending money - the Bonds albatross is gone so they can focus on rebuilding. There may be a chance that it can happen again - but the long term prospect is troubling unless we get new owners.
 
The game was good times. Rocks at least made this one interesting. Two minutes after the end of the game the place was flooded with Sox fans. I honestly didn't notice all that many during the game. Great season :scared:

 
My first daughter was born 3 weeks before the Sox won it all in 2004. I joked at the time that the Sox finally won one in her lifetime. My second daughter was born earlier this year. Now they've won one in her lifetime, too :scared:

Congrats to the Sox! Two titles in four years. Outstanding!

Good season, Rockies. They just happend to run into a buzzsaw in the World Series. The Sox bats were all locked in after game 4 of the ALCS.

Congrats Boston. Although you have a couple more to go to even be considered in the same league as that legendary Yankee dynasty of the late 1990's.... two is a good start.

:goodposting: Very cool story. As much as the guy can bug me with running his mouth at times I'd kiinda like to see us resign him for another year or two and let him retire here. He's a positive force in the community, a good mentor to the younger guys... and frankly he's not a bad #3 at this point.

 
Agreed on the good feeling for Lester. Those kind of stories never get old.

And congrats to Mike Lowell. Always good to see a Yankee farm kid make it to the top.

Hell yeah! Mike Lowell is such a great, solid presence. A-Rod is a distraction. Kids like Ellsbury, Pedroia and Papelbon had such solid examples in guys like Youk and Lowell who shut up, show up and do their jobs with humility and excellence that they preformed as better teammates. Guys like Schilling and Poppi may have been the elder statesmen (though Poppi's not that old,) and Manny is Manny, but it's the guys who served as granite who truly supported this team and no one save for maybe Youk was quite as solid a presence as Lowell. He'd be a HUGE loss.Oh, and bye Lugo. Thanks for a well played World Series. Appreciated, but there's no question we can upgrade there. He's good defensively, but still had 19 errors. Offensively he's just not that great and I don't think he'll improve.

I hope Drew develops as everyone says he's going to.

Just wait... Drew will earn his check next year. Guy's solid in the field and when he's on he's a key cog. He had a LOT of family issues earlier this year but once that got sorted out, well, look at his sept/oct numbers.

 
I didnt get to watch the last 2 games. Ended up missing the series. Would have liked to have seen it go longer.

Wasnt even close.
