Just love watching V let it all hang out in his last inning of work.

You stopped #####ing last year after he had a borderline GG season and an .824 OPS. Now he's terrible again, ok. He had a .280 average and a .819 OPS with RISP coming into this game (last year .307/.792), the Tigers have much bigger problems than Jhonny Perlata. Well I asked to be swept so they'd fire Lloyd, do it.As that Detroit fan in town that loved making fun of the Indians for having to deal with him my phone blew up when that trade went down. The tables had turned. But I was more upset when we re-signed him. He is the king of the meaningless 3 run homer in a 9-1 ball game and his defense is why I am still reluctant to buy into 'advanced statistics' that try to convince me he doesn't suck at short.'Bobcat10 said:'wadegarrett said:No thanks.'MAC_32 said:Hey Cleveland, take him back. Can't get the runner across, FC and Boesch thrown out at the plate. fire Lloyd

I stopped #####ing because he had a good season, doesn't change who he is though. He has the potential to be a perennial All Star, always has, and just doesn't do it. Always heard it was effort related when he was in Cleveland and that bugs the hell out of me.You stopped #####ing last year after he had a borderline GG season and an .824 OPS. #Tigers Verlander: You can only say it's still early for so long. We've got to get this thing turned around.
“@FSDwakiji: #Tigers--Verlander, on if team meeting needed: "So what's the point in getting everybody pissed off. We're already pissed off.”
ETA:Ryan Field @RyanFieldFSDLeyland, on the mood of his team after getting swept by the #Indians: "I hope it's not good right now."
Dan Dickerson @Dan_Dickerson#Tigers were 0-9 with RISP today, 3-28 (!) in the series...had BR every inning, left 10 on base for the third straight game...
At some point you stop feeling the pressure and just play. Not sure if that woke them up or not, we'll see. The next thing will be the team finally hits and the bullpen blows it. I disagree with needing bullpen help though, maybe one arm. Luis Marte who was supposed to be key in this pen will finally be ready to pitch this weekend and I think him along with Below, Dotel, Coke, Benoit and Valverde will rebound nicely. The starting pitching has been borderline great lately with a few bumps in the road and that should continue to be a strong suit. I'm gonna stop caring for now, it's a long season and they have the ingredients to be good. I can't do anything else and the #####ing is wearing me down since I'm not usually that kind of fan.ESPN Stats & Info @ESPNStatsInfoVerlander hit 101.5 mph on radar gun today (according to our data). CLEVELAND -- Detroit Tigers right-handed reliever Al Alburquerque has taken the next step in strengthening his throwing elbow that he had surgically repaired in mid-December.Alburquerque started long tossing at the club's spring training facility in Lakeland, Fla. and has been stretched out to 150 feet.Tigers head athletic trainer Kevin Rand said the next step for the 25-year-old will be a throwing program off the mound, which will include throwing to hitters."If he continues to progress, he should be ready to initiate a throwing program off the mound pretty soon," he said.Alburquerque was cleared to begin a throwing program in early April and had been playing toss from 60 feet. He remains on to track to return around the All-Star break."Nothing in his rehab has changed his timetable," Rand said. "So far, so good.Alburquerque has been sidelined since last winter following elbow surgery, which involved inserting a screw near the tip of his right elbow."He’d be a big boost,” Tigers pitching coach Jeff Jones said.
It is little things like this that are killing the Tigers, although this was not a little mistake. Miggy should have been on second with a stand-up double and would have scored on Fielders single. Instead they ended up with Miggy on second and Fielder on first after the single and no runs.Miggy nearly homered in the first inning when he belted a fastball off the top of the wall in right field, yet he only managed a single on the play and although Price Fielder followed with a base hit, Delmon Young flew out for no runs. Miggy needs to put a little more effort into running etc, the tigers should of scored in the 1st.
The issue is that Prince is a mediocre fielder at 1B, Cabrera had turned himself into a very solid first baseman but Miggy is a below average third baseman. With Rayburn at second they are like my softball team in the field. No, they aren't.
Doc, whats the scouting report on Berry's defensive abilities (and can he play all 3 OF spots)? Seems like he could stick if he could be used as a pinch runner later in games for the middle of the order guys and then placed in the OF as a defensive replacement. His ability to bunt for hits is very good, but I would think teams would pick up on this and start pinching more at the corners.Berry is a spark plug giving the team a guy who draws walks, can bunt and can steal a base. Beats Ryan Raburn, he can't do any of that.
Villareal's errors and then the missed call at first because he pulled his foot but put it back, was weird. Guy threw a bunch of soft grounders and couldn't get out of the inning. Here is what I like tonight:4th:Miguel Cabrera : Cabrera walked.Prince Fielder : Cabrera stole second, Fielder doubled to right, Cabrera scored.Tigers 7thFrancisco Liriano pitching:Quintin Berry : Berry reached on bunt single to first.Andy Dirks : Pickoff attempt, Strike (missed bunt), Pickoff attempt, Pickoff attempt, Pickoff attempt, Bunt foul, Dirks struck out swinging.Miguel Cabrera : Berry stole second, Cabrera intentionally walked.Prince Fielder : Fielder singled to center, Berry scored, Cabrera to second.Delmon Young : Young doubled to right, Cabrera scored, Fielder to third.Brennan Boesch : Boesch singled to left, Fielder scoredNow that's a ####### inning! Berry is a spark plug giving the team a guy who draws walks, can bunt and can steal a base. Beats Ryan Raburn, he can't do any of that. Ten runs, none off homers. It is the Twins, but I'll take anything at this point.
but make sure you highlight "it is the Twins" they are the worst team in baseball
I stopped reading here.Tigers 7thFrancisco Liriano pitching:
He plays LF and CF and has above average range and a competent glove. Tigers signed him as a minor league free agent and he has bounced around despite having some pretty good minor league seasons (sans 2010). He's a walk guy, if you look through his minor league seasons his OBP is always 90-100 points higher than his average, basically someone Billy Beane would like and opposite of just about every Tigers player besides my beloved VMart and the big guys. He's also stole 40+ bases four times in the minors. Probably not a guy to get too excited about but the guy came up today and hit one to the warning track and he seems to have a knack for getting on base. How long has it been since the Tigers had a guy who can get a bunt single and steal 2nd? Nook Logan? And that guy couldn't get on base. AJAX will be back pretty soon, looks like maybe next weekend but I'd keep this guy around (ship Worth down since Leyland never uses him anyway) for awhile.Doc, whats the scouting report on Berry's defensive abilities (and can he play all 3 OF spots)? Thanks!!! I suppose, if nothing else, he'd be a nice roster addition when rosters expand for the playoffs (assuming we're in them).'Doctor Detroit said:He plays LF and CF and has above average range and a competent glove. But so would every other team in the divisionIf the tigers could only play the Twins everyday, they be divisional champs by the 4th of July.
He's due a good outing, but I probably wouldn't trust him.Sooooo wanted to roll the dice on Porcello today. Chasing top points for the week, I have no arms left and he's on the WW. Just couldn't do it.
Forgot to add Cabrera having his head up his ### and getting thrown out at first when he didn't get back to the bag, the team not turning a routine double play on a hit back to the mound in the 6th, and Raburn not getting an out on a routine grounder in the 1st. Like Berry though. Adds a new dimension to this team and he plays with some energy/enthusiasm. Rest of the team looks like a bunch of walking zombies. Austin is back Friday for the Yankees series. Will be interesting to see what they do with Berry then. He deserves to stay up. Too bad he doesn't play 2B. Worth likely will be sent down. They don't do any of the little things right. Kelly can't sacrifice the runner, can't turn double plays, can't get a runner at first on a bad bunt, can't hold runners (Avila had no chance today), leave bases loaded two innings in a row, Cabrera can't get a fly ball to score a run, Fielder can't make up his mind about a runner going from second to third and only a terrific diving play by Porcello got the out at first. It's not just the hitting, they aren't doing much of anything right.
For all the crap Delmon gets around here I'd rather have him through 2012 than Raburn. If Worth doesn't go down, then Raburn should go. Raburn is Inge-like at the plate and can't play defense - recent examples being his botched play at 2B today and his pathetic attempt at catching that foul bowl in RF late in the series opener. The guy offers nothing of value to this team if he's not hitting well due to being a liability in the field. I honestly think he's the worst defensive player I've ever seen play at the MLB level. The thing about Delmon is that since his incident in NY he's had to keep his mouth shut about wanting to play in LF. So, he has only been a DH since then and is no longer another liability for us to worry about in LF. I'll take that.'Limp Ditka said:Worth? I haven't done this in a while but here is a text I sent before the inning started:BOOM goes the dynamite! Straight away CF. We may actually pull off a sweep here.
Cabrera real due, get someone on in front of him and we have the lead
ETA: If Leyland sits Berry anytime soon, I'm gonna drive to wherever he is and buy all the stores out of cigarettes.Wow, what a way to bounce back. Granted it's the Twins but I'll take it. Bonus is they got the 3 games back on Cleveland.Fister and JV to lead off the 4 game series at Fenway. Need to start that series strong.

Berry is the first Tiger with 2 stolen bases in one game since 2010. I don't see how they can take him out of the lineup when Jackson returns. He would look pretty good in left field and batting 2nd (or maybe 9th).I say leave him first and let AJAX bat second but Leyland won't do it. They should just play him in LF move Dirks to RF and DH Boesch. The outfield defense will be solid. I suspect Berry will bat 9th once Jackson gets back. We'll see though, you just never know with Leyland. Might as well ride the hot hand while they can though.I haven't done this in a while but here is a text I sent before the inning started:BOOM goes the dynamite! Straight away CF. Berry was exactly the spark the Tigers sorely needed. Of course he needs to stay at lead-off. It would be a great thing to have to speed guys in front of the meat of the order.Gibson being on there three times is really an impressive accomplishment.Nice sweep! Manager Jim Leyland said it was too early to tell whether Berry will stay with the team beyond Jackson's return.

Umpiring has been terrible all year.Frustrating game already. Ump misses the 3rd strike call and Boston scores two more runs.Worth actually gets a hit to lead off the next inning and overslides 2B - he actually got back to the base before getting tagged and the ump missed that too.Leyland and LaMont already tossed by top of 3rd.
