hunter by a landslideTori Hunter 2-26? Or Melky 2-16?A little suprised the Tigers did not take a run at Melky.
Hunter will wear #48 this year which he bought from Rick Porcello. Porcello gave the proceeds to Hurricane Sandy victims, all class.
Can I still cancel my HUNTER 389 jersey?I already ordered mine, I guess he'll run that one out on alternative jersey days.Hunter will wear #48 this year which he bought from Rick Porcello. Porcello gave the proceeds to Hurricane Sandy victims, all class. Can I still cancel my HUNTER 389 jersey?
I really like how this clubhouse has chemistry now. Prince really did a lot for it last year and I think Torii just makes it that much stronger. I like this team.'DocGonzo said:

Roll with Smyly/Porcello then make another trade deadline deal for a starterRinse, wash, repeatWhat is the fallback position if the Tigers don't resign Sanchez? Brandon McCarthy? Or just roll with Smyly and Porcello?
This one hasn't been bad to us, was thinking of keeping it. Thoughts? So DD where is the 2013 thread...i am getting excited already.Peace
Just change the title and we can make fun of the other team's tiny threads even more than usual. This one hasn't been bad to us, was thinking of keeping it. Thoughts? So DD where is the 2013 thread...i am getting excited already.Peace
I'm going to miss Ryan Raburn discussions in here.
As expected, the Detroit Tigers today released infielder/outfielder Ryan Raburn, a frequent fan whipping post.Raburn, 31, hit .171 with 14 doubles, a home run and 12 RBIs in 66 games with the Tigers this season.“He has given us a lot of time at the big-league level," general manager Dave Dombrowski said today. "He has been a solid player. He was a hard worker who gave a great effort. He moved from position to position. He swung the bat well at times, and he helped us win a lot of games.“It’s a shame it finished on such a downward trend this last year. I think he will bounce back fine. A change of scenery probably will be beneficial for him. We probably have reached that point."
Dave D. would have made a great used car salesman. Dombrowski could have said Raburn's BABIP this year was only .224 and he's a prime dead cat bounce candidate in AAA next year.Dave D. would have made a great used car salesman. Peralta may be a better ballplayer. He is just too nonchalant during the season. Post season he really stepped up and played up to his potential.JIM BOWDEN @JimBowdenESPN -Tigers working on signing Stephen Drew to play SS then would trade Peralta to Arizona or Boston

it will be some under performing bullpen member, or Q BerryWith no Inge and now no Raburn I've got no whipping boy.
You might have if Stephen Drew comes here. With no Inge and now no Raburn I've got no whipping boy.
Not sure on this guy. If he can field anything like Ray Oyler I guess that makes up for lack of offense. I did read he walks a lot, might be ok @ #9 spot? You might have if Stephen Drew comes here. With no Inge and now no Raburn I've got no whipping boy.

He'll turn 30 before opening day and has over 3000 MLB PAs. He's been around enough to establish himself as a 3-4 WAR contributor. He's a better hitter than Peralta and probably a better glove. The big question mark is how much injuries have taken away from Drew. Will his speed ever come back? Is his increasing strike out rates over the past two years due to rust or something else? The Oaklands, who have a positional need, passed on his option at an effective cost of $8.65M. That's a yellow flag to me.I don't think you can get a good read of him using war, he has tried to play hurt too much and hasn't played healthy enough to really show what he brings game in and game out

It appears the Tigers are truly intent on letting 21-year-old hurler Bruce Rondon compete for the ninth-inning job this spring. On Tuesday, the Tigers added Rondon to their 40-man roster, thereby protecting him from next month's Rule 5 Draft. During the Tigers' annual state of the team address, Dombrowski called Rondon a "rare talent" that has the makeup of a closer, despite having never pitched in the majors. I wonder if Dombrowski is just playing a game of who blinks first with Boros, either that or he has a leap of faith in the abilities of Rondon. Seems like when you so close, you should just spend the bucks on Soriano.Heard on The Ticket yesterday that Boros called Mr. I looking for a home for Soriano..wanted 60 million for 4. Tigers said "No thanks"
Maybe they still want to make a run at Sanchez or Upton. Also closer is an overrated position. Valverde has always had modest stuff and was still able to post a perfect season of saves and Phil Coke was perfect in the post season. A Phil Coke that this board wanted banished by the 3/4 point of last season. It appears the Tigers are truly intent on letting 21-year-old hurler Bruce Rondon compete for the ninth-inning job this spring. I hear he will be cemented to the bench this year. Lloyd or somebody will be out there. The Human Stop Sign Lamont? With no Inge and now no Raburn I've got no whipping boy.
Have heard and read several comps between him and Zumaya...only Rondon doesn't have the violent delivery that ruined Zoom's arm. I don't think it's posturing, I also don't think it's reasonable to expect him to jump right into high leverage situations though.Start Benoit there, have Villareal on standby, and take a wait-and-see with Al and Rondon. Start them off in low leverage spots, mix in some tight ones to see how they react, and if the top 2 aren't getting it done re-evaluate and consider both of them. I don't think spending on a closer is a good idea until the trade deadline, spend elsewhere and if the 9th inning is an issue come July look to patch the hole then.It appears the Tigers are truly intent on letting 21-year-old hurler Bruce Rondon compete for the ninth-inning job this spring. When all else fails for Boros he calls Mr. I. Yankees are going to let him walk? Or jump back in?Mr I talked to Scott Boras about Soriano yesterday. More than anything this tells me the Anibal possibilities are looking slim.
Yankees have Mariano and Robertson and are said to want to slash payroll. Seems like he won't be there next year. When all else fails for Boros he calls Mr. I. Yankees are going to let him walk? Hopefully. I'd take an extra arm in the bullpen for him. Plus he seems to have an attitude problem for no good reason. Get him out of here. For as much as you guys hated Delmon Young last year, I hated Boesch. One less whipping boy?:
