Onterrio Smith (1 Viewer)

According to Hinezer, Tice said yesterday he lost confidence in the running game because Smith wasn't performing.
Just wondering if anyone has a link for this... I searched this thread, news articles, and tried other threads, can't find any.
I didn't get to listen in this week but I would guess it came from Tice's weekly radio chat.Link to Hines post
Yes, no link, it was from the Tice weekly show. He said that the young guys on offense weren't doing their jobs well enough in the running game and that's why they gave up on it. He implied it was Onterrio, Haayer and the young TEs.
In other words... Tice said the young guys in the running game didn't step it up...and you ASSUMED it was Onterrio...until questioned when you said it was an implication and was Onterrio, Haayer, and Owens, or whatever other young guys...Bottom line is if it was Onterrio, the simple fix would have been putting Moore or Ned in, but that NEVER happened...

THIS YEAR THE BEARS HAVE HELD 3 OF THE LAST 4 TEAMS UNDER 100yrs rushing.
Clarify. How many games have the Bears played this year? How did they get two more games than everyone else?
:rotflmao: I was just going to type the same thing.
Oh look, the "Thread From Heck" is back  Include preseason, cause I'm sure ALL THE TEAMS IN THE NFL PARTICIPATED :wall:
I'm only seeing 2 out of the last 4 under 100 (including preseason)REGULAR SEASONWeek 2: Green Bay 152 yards rushingWeek 1: Detroit 77 yards rushingPRESEASONWeek 4: Cleveland 88 yards rushing (D.Brown and N.Maddux had 74 of them)Week 3: New Orleans 127 yards rushing (led by KiJana Carter w/78)Before that San Fran got 101 in week 2 so it's acutally only 2 out of the last 5 that Chicago held under 100 yards.
My bad, did a quick lookup, big misquote on my part. Apologies to GrOOvus.
Also don't put me in the "church of Onterrio." My comments in this thread were only directed toward the misguided assumption that the Bears are super tough to run on and will pose some kind of daunting challenge. Last year they finished 16th against the run - average. So far this season they are again average against the run, whether you include preseason or not.As far as Onterrio goes, I have him as an rb 4/5 in only one of the many leagues I'm in - I don't have any other part of the Minny tailback trainwreck on any of my other rosters. I don't have religion about this guy, he just lasted longer on that particular draft board than I thought he should have (9th round or so), so I grabbed him as a good value pick. That's the extent of my FF involvement.I will say that I think Onterrio is the better running back (even if all were healthy and/or not wacky on the junk) of the people the Vikes have back there, but that he, Moe and Bennett all have their value to an NFL team when they're available to play. Having those guys around has certainly made Tice's life easier, but it sure has made a mess of this message board.I might give him the go against Chicago this week since Barlow's tweaked and I think his matchup is better than KJ's, but we'll see.

It was assumed that that exact comment was aimed towards those 4. He talked about the struggles of each of those players during the interview, but he didn't directly say Onterrio, Haayer, Owens and Dugan struggled in that quote, but he did say they struggled in the interview. It wasn't all Onterrio of course, but he struggled, Tice said as much. It was pretty obvious visually that he struggled too. He did not find holes and often ran into blockers.Onterrio didn't look good, get over it. Hopefully as a Vikings fan, he is able to bounce back next Sunday, but come the Texans game, it's Bennett time and the offense will have a whole different demension.

I own Onterrio in my keeper league. I think he will either: (a) be a stud RB in Minny or elsewhere in the next couple of years; or (b) be serving a one-year suspension under the NFL's drug policy in the next couple of years. No in-between.

Make no mistake, I own them both because it has been a shrewd FF move on my part. :D But, for the record, SMITH is the better back.Deep down, I think Mrs. Bennett even knows this. Also, please add "kerosine distributor" to my resume.TIA

This is what I think I know so far.

Da Masses = A "Ms Bennett" owner who waiting for the chick to start

Switz = Founder of the "Church Of O"

GrOOvus = Church of O member, but sorta like a practicing Catholic

Sonny = Goes both ways Bennett/Smith owner and kerosine distributor

packersfan (Mrs. Bennett) = Owns O (along with an Alvarez Bobblehead and red "W" pajamas) and would like will see him run better on Sunday. Is ready to admit defeat, after 100 yds and 2 TDs.

Hinezer = Loves Mrs. Bennett, and really doens't know much else

Blue Onion = Church of O member in denial
The cast is complete, on with the show!
Fixed. :)
No, NOW it's fixed.

Coming from someone who is constantly hyping up a backup and led the parade last year that got people to waste 3rd or 4th round picks on him, that doesn't mean a lot. What really have you brought to any Onterrio-Bennett thread? Hype, hype and more hype. What are you going to do when he is sitting out 4 weeks for smoking the reefer? Disapper from the threads?

:rotflmao: aw boy, you're a poor sport....BTW, I didn't make anyone waste a draft pick... I tihnk the situation in Minn clearly made Smith a favorable pick, despite the way it turned out. And whoever held onto him had a great playoff run...But anyway, let's return to the cast... :bag:

The Bears secondary is in a shambles right now. Playing in the dome.

Considering that Mike Tice will probobly have the Vikings run the ball a lot. :hot:

But you guys are forgetting somthing.

Moe.

Please refer to Tices comments about not being satisfied with the play of the young players. If someone allready mentioned this I appologise for missing it as I haven't read the whole thread.

Remember Moe?

yep, we ALL remember Moe, and he's injured, will probably play, but not too much... but we remember him :P

Moe gonna play, but he will be regulated to blocking assignments to help with the injuries on the O-line, and maybe an occasional pass and run here and there.

But the people who drafted Onterrio in the 3rd or 4th round probably didn't have to worry about the playoff run because they probably weren't in the playoffs.

I don't think you're right on that one... in fact, I won my league, in part due to Onterrio's stretch performance...

17-94 (5.5 YPC)6-106 (17.7 YPR)And he could've had a few TDs too.I wonder if everyone is going to jump off the bandwagon of Quentin Griffin (9 carries, ZERO yards so far today) and Domanick Davis (10 carries, 12 yards).

Onterrio Smith + weak Run D = awesome stats

Paging Mrs. Bennett...Mrs. Bennett, please pick up Onterrio's jockstrap, on your way to the conference room.
Mrs Bennett is busy prepping for the wk #5 game. She said to get a microscope and find his jockstrap yourself :P

Yes, please give Onterrio Smith his jockstrap back so that he can play with it while watching Vikings games on his couch for the next month.
