Opinions on Team QB's (1 Viewer)

We have always been a two qb league. Last year the owners decided to switch to team qb's because there were times that teams didn't have two starters available in a given week.......bye weeks, benchings, injuries, an NFL team resting a qb for the playoffs, etc.

I don't believe that I have ever seen team qb's ranked. The only thing that I have to go on is last years ppg. It may seem like it shouldn't be much of a difference from individual ratings but at times it can be. Although I would be careful not to draft Leftwich, the Jacksonville qb's put up nice numbers last year. Carolina is an example this year of a situation that is more appealing because of the addition of Carr while individul leagues would be more likely to avoid Delhomme. The loss of Shaub and the uncertain furture of Vick will cause Atlanta to drop.

Anyway, my question is has anyone seen a site that ranks team qb's? Do you sharks have any experiences or thoughts that may help?

For us all td's are six points, one pt. for enery 25 yards passing and ten yards rushing.

I run a set of 16-team leagues that uses TMQB and it works out great. There is a limit of 2 per team to make sure each team gets two of them. There was a 300 point scoring differential between the #1 and #32 TMQBs, so there is still a lot of strategy on when to draft them.

All Pro Publishing (Jack Pullman) ranks Team QB and Individual QB, both pre-season and every week

Very helpful for those type of leagues (I used to play in one before I moved)

It's worth noting that while there was a 300-point scoring differential between #1 and #32, there was less than a 150-point differential between #4 and #31. So it really helped to have Indy, Philly, or New Orleans, and it really sucked to have Oakland, but the rest weren't strongly differentiated. (Also note that the Anarchy leagues include playoff scoring).

I don't understand why anyone would use "Team QB". Why stop there? What about "Team RB", Team WR"?
The Anarchy leagues are total points with no transactions; Team QB makes sense in that format, because backup QBs put up zeroes, while backup RBs and WRs still produce.

When you start two qb's availabitity can become a major issue. NFL teams use as many as three rb's and five wr's in a given game, while the starting qb is the only one who generally sees action.

The only thing that changes is injury risk players get a bump.
That's not true at all. Uncertain fantasy situations where we aren't 100% sure who the opening day starter will be also get a bump (that's Tampa, Cleveland, KC, Jacksonville, NYJ). Then there are the injury-prone QBs (Philly, St. Louis, Baltimore), as you mentioned, and then there are the QBs who, for one reason or another, have a good chance of losing their starting job midway through the season (Chicago, Atlanta, Carolina). Then, of course, the "steady Eddies" take a step back towards the pack- the stable situations with no real red flags surrounding the starter's chances of starting, such as Indy, New England, San Diego, New Orleans, Cincinatti, and Seattle.I actually like the idea of Team QBs, although I have yet to play in a TeamQB league.

I could see this in a 32 team league or a start 2 16 team league. That aside I still think I'd like individual qbs
