Osama Bin Laden DEAD (MERGED THREAD) (1 Viewer)

-Compound had 12-18 foot walls with barbed wire

-Lots of couriers going inside and out

-No internet or telephone service

-Burned trash instead of taking it to curb

-Tall dude with big beard inside

-Helicopter raid

-U.S. Navy Seals from JSOC conducted

Soooo glad we got him before his pus filled internal organs got him. It'd almost be worth believing in heaven so OBL can be at the door looking in on all the people he's killed having a grand ol time while some big red dude with horns and a cape is pointing him down into the tunnel. #### you Osama.

I wonder ... has OBL been more lucky or more "good" in being able to avoid US forces for as long as he did?

Former President George W. Bush:

Earlier this evening, President Obama called to inform me that American forces killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of the al Qaeda network that attacked America on September 11, 2001. I congratulated him and the men and women of our military and intelligence communities who devoted their lives to this mission. They have our everlasting gratitude. This momentous achievement marks a victory for America, for people who seek peace around the world, and for all those who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001. The fight against terror goes on, but tonight America has sent an unmistakable message: No matter how long it takes, justice will be done.

Dunno how many of you are J.T. the Brick fans, but his show is just starting on Fox Sports Radio and he's on fire...most of the show will be Osama-related.

So here is what I think happened:

-In August we get intel from a reliable source that a trusted OBL courier was given a note that was tracked by foreign intelligence at origin. Basically they found the source of a key lieutenant of Bin Laden and

-That courier then returned to a place familiar to U.S. intelligence in and around Peshawar

-The trail went cold for a while but it picked back up in March when the courier again picked up a note for Bin Laden in a second city. At that point the courier was followed to Abbottabad but they lost him before he delivered the note to Bin Laden (this would explain the meetings of Obama's National Security team increasing in frequency in March).

-At that time they felt OBL was in Abbottabad which is a fairly big city but probably had it down to a five square mile area or so

-At that time intel narrowed the search and checked intel reports for the area

-By the end of March satellittes were taking lots of pictures

-NSA, CIA, DIA and everyone else ran algorithms and poured over everything they had about the city

-They looked for connections in the city to Bin Laden, trends, political motivations and looked for anything out of the ordinary

-By mid April they were probably looking at a handful of real possibilities and were collecting round-the-clock data looking for actionable intelligence

-On Friday the courier delivered a package to that compound

-Yesterday one of the satellites saw Bin Laden or his son

-Today we blew that ####er up

or

-Bin Laden sent in his Rhode Island voter registration card listing his change of address in August, and someone opened it up yesterday.

I am not that shocked that the news keeps starting the clock on Sep 11, but this guy was on the target list long before that. He was responsible for the USS Cole and US embassy bombings as well. Clinton even tried to kill him during his Presidency.

I was actually pretty close there. Still think the Rhode Island thing may come to fruition.

Hopefully next time the US won't fund and train people like Osama bin Laden to do its bidding. I notice Obama made no mention of this in his victory speech. What a shocker.

John Scott just took over the FoxNews Broadcast.....

'.......For those of you on the west coast, it is still May 1st. May 1st, the day Osama Bin Laden's life came to an end and the day that he found out the story about the 72 virgins waiting for him on the other side was bunk.'

:lmao:

I'd like to know how they confirmed the last part

Talk to Charlie Wilson (D-Texas) about funding Osama. Not that Osama was an US enemy at the time btw. Let's keep your partisan bs for another time.

What would Charlie Wilson have to do with it? Genuinely curious here. You should probably try to read up on the concept of blowback before you accuse me of being partisan. Obama's certainly not the first one to play along with the U.S. vs The Bad Guys mentality and I didn't mean to imply that he was.

Charlie Wilson was a powerful champion of arming the Afghan insurgents againt the Soviets. I recommend reading Charlie Wilson's War. Don't remember the author, but an excellent read on how Charlie Wilson nearly single-handedly championed and got funding (and weapons) for the Mujaheddin..

Am I the only one who wonders where Osama's bodyguards were? I can't fathom only five people killed: Osama, his son, a human shield and two couriers. Seems strange to me there weren't more people there to defend him.

Operational security footprint maybe. The less people, the better. He couldn't leave the compound so I guess I don't understand why he wasn't bunking with a family or two. I would imagine he had done that before so as to make it seem like the compound was normal, ho hum. Some conversations in the Pakistan thread about this very thing. In the end he probably got to the point where he thought if the U.S. caught up with him, they were gonna kill him if there were 500 people there. I think more information will come out, maybe about where he has been the past ten years. I think watching that trail would be fascinating.

Will check this out later. Thanks.

OK, so any bets on how long until the first TV movie airs based on this raid, and then how long until a theatrical version?

I think the story we are getting and reality ate very different. There is a twitter live blogger reporting a helicopter crash, among other things.

For the seals to get on, do their work, and leave with the body means he didn't have any bodyguards or, more likely, a lot of people died.

F. that. I'm waiting for the videogame version. If Playstation wasn't down right now, I'd be on Call of Duty running every assassination mission they've got.

I was wondering how a helicopter crashes and is destroyed a week ago and we heard nothing about it? Did Obama say he gave his approval this morning to go ahead with the "mission"? Regardless, congrats to the special forces on the success!

George, keepin it real. You know he had a beer last night

"conspiracy theory"

OBL was sick or transferred his "authority". This is a ploy to let our guard down and distract us for another event and or something else happening elsewhere. He gave himself up the the "greater good" and we "fell for it"

I really hope and believe this isn't the casebut just spitballing.

GB our boys over there!!! :banned:

It's raining on this Monday morning, I'm at work, and the ####-sucking mother####er bin Laden is dead. It is a good day. :pickle: :pickle: :pickle:

Anyone else think "buried at sea" is a euphemism for "tossed out of a helicopter by a Navy SEAL"?

Glad we got him. I'm sure that there are plenty more that will pop up to try to take his place, but he was a powerful voice for Islamic terrorists. Hopefully by silencing that voice, moderate Islam will have an easier time retaining those young men otherwise inclined to blown themselves up.

Not sure about that one, but you know there's going to be tons of conspiracies about how we didn't actually kill OBL, hence the quick burial at sea.

I knew they were gonna make another season of 24. Jack Bauer Is still going strong! Either that or Jason Borne is a bad ###!
