I haven't seen much discussion of the SF QB situation after the first week turnover-fest.

What is the likelihood that the team turns back to Shaun Hill, who performed so well in the final weeks of the season last year?

I haven't seen much on the QB situation in SF. IMHO, it looked like SF was trying to protect OS with a bunch of dump passes. It would surprise me it SF went in another direction at QB real soon.

It sounded to me like O'Sullivan was clearly the best QB in SF this preseason. I think he gets a few more chances to prove himself and I think he will do well.

He's all I got after loosing Brady. He didnt really have a BAD game last week, lost two fumbles on sacks, but if he can limit/eliminate the turnovers, he'll be good for 175-200 and a td (maybe 2 here and there) per week I think.

If his upside is "game manager" they have a proven one of those on the roster. The question is can he be at least Kitna? He showed glimpses in preseason but preseason is preseason.

I don't think the surface has been scratched on what O'Sullivan will end up doing this year. He was solely responsible for 3 of the 9er's 5 TO's this weekend, but completed 70% of his passes and SanFran moved the ball well. Keep the faith, he just needs to settle down and I think better days are coming.

He better start producing. He is my 5th QB in 2QB league and I need him to start blow for next 2 weeks to trade him.

 This guy Fantasy Trader knows things. :nonO'Sullivanowner:

well I dumped issac bruce and bryant johnson (dropped preseason)

still have vernon davis, but I don't have much confidence in this experiment, at least in the first 1/4 of the season.

Is this from a dynasty perspective, or a wee 3 perspective?

it wasn't your typical Martz team with lots of passing. It was very clear in the play-calling that they felt their best chance of winning was by running. Gore looked like a beast out there. I don't think SF passing game will be fantasy friendly this year after watching w1 imho

on Sullivan, the turnovers were really bad. he did do a lot of good things though. Mainly, ARZ was bringing good pressure and he stayed poised and made the completions. He was very aware where his outlet passes are, particularly Gore. The announcers were impressed with his caddence, he got ARZ offsides once i think. shows enough arm strength for some of those deep patterns Martz sprinkles in.

JT was very much IN the game to start the 2nd half despite the INT and fumble in the first half. The boxscore doesn't show that SF didn't take an offensive snap until 8 minutes into the 3rd quarter due to a Takeo Spikes fumble on the kick return. Really was a big blow to the defense, SF D got tired and gave up a TD on the 2nd drive. Really didn't get a good look at JT in the 2nd half, he barely touched the ball. He fails the 2-minute offense though, watching the game though, it seemed like SF needed a miracle to march down the field in 2 minutes. You just knew they wouldn't pull it off, people aren't blaming JT. not yet at least

In a 2QB league, I think he will get the nod this week over Bulger (yuck) and Pennington (will get one TD and 215 yards)... I will get either Cassell or Kerry Collins and not sure if they would jump O'sul or not.

I've got JTO as my QB2 behind McNabb.

Given the upside of the QB in a Martz offense, I think I'll ride it out for a few weeks rather than punting the guy away for a minimal-upside guy like Trent Edwards or Jeff Garcia. Those guys, or ones equivalent to them, will still be out there in a month.

I actually thought O'Sullivan looked decent. The fumbles were caused by really good timing on the part of the defenders, and I don't think they were necessarily indicative of future problems. The interception was certainly pretty bad, and it was a throw he shouldn't have even considered making.

I thought he showed a fair amount of poise. He didn't seem to get rattled or flustered, and he generally made pretty good decisions. It also appeared to me that he can throw the deep-in route that has been a staple of the Martz offense.

I was reasonably impressed by what I saw, and I think there's a chance that he could wind up posting solid numbers.
