Other than Tebow..who could run it successfully in the NFL? (1 Viewer)

What other qb's do you think could run the same spread offense.... and have the success Tebow is having?

Well, according to Darrelle Revis, a team with Mike Vick and Chris Johnson could pull it off, but not Tebow. :hophead:

Loved the ole tackle attempt Revis made when Tebow squared him up along the sideline. What a punchline that whole NYJ organization is.

And have the success tebow is having??? You mean lack of success, they had 10 points up until the last drive and 26 total yards in the 2nd half. I dont call that success. The jets suck plain & simple and their defense is overrrated. Denver is awful awful awful.

Since when is a 4-1 record as a starter not considered success?

Josh Nesbitt (BUF) ran simlar offense at Georgia Tech for Paul Johnson.
Ehh, not really. The triple option (what Paul Johnson runs) is based on a lot of different concepts than the spread option (with the read option) that Meyer/Rodriguez/etc run. While Johnson has expanded the offense from the base wing formations it used to be stuck in, its still decently different from the spread option.

maybe Antwaan Randle-El will make a come back as a QB? although his arm is probably too good for the Tebow type offense

Cam Newton. That's it. You have to be built like Tebow or Newton in order to take the hits you take in that offense.

St Peter

I was going to say Jesus, but post resurection he suffered from Plantar Fasciitis in both feet, prolly from the nails. HE never really recovered his straight line burst

LaDainian Tomlinson may be too old to play RB after this season, but maybe the Jets could move him to QB, the way old cornerbacks get moved to safety.

that got me thinking with ben's broken hand, Hines Ward is a former college QB...and he's obviously too washed up to play WRdennis dixon maybe too

Thats why you have three on your roster that can plus one on the practice squad.

:goodposting: Tebow was gonna plow over him like a rag doll, and that punk pulled the "matador" move ... ran his mouth, then didn't have the balls to stand up like a freakin' man when Timmy came barreling over. PUNK.He may be a great pass defender, but as far as a great overall defensive player? No way. Gutless blabbermouth. How can anyone seriously respect such a blatant ##### ... P-U-N-K.

:goodposting: Cam knows the offense from when he was backing up Tebow.
I don't think he learned that much at Florida. In fact, he was so against learning, he threw computers out windows. That pretty much says it all.

The stealing the laptop was just the last straw. The cheating in class is what got him out of here. That doesn't mean he wasn't serious about football. He spent a year behind Tebow and played in at least three play sets. I'm sure he learned something in those 16 months (including the summer before his first year).

(not serious)

I think the biggest issue is long term durability to avoid getting hurt.

Thus slender guys like Vick and Cunningham have an issue with doing it full time. They will eventually stay down on the field after a hit.

Past players with the right "thick" body build were Kordell Stewart and Steve Young (though Young did take plenty of injuries along the way).

A linebacker physique with more compact then elongated extremities, which isn't typical of quarterbacks, would seem to be key. Genetics would/could play a key part in it.

And yes Cam certainly could prove to be physical/durable like that.

I think you described how people felt about Daunte, but his knee took away much of his career

Good call.Daunte was living up to it pretty well until that knee injury.Funny thing is... he played 5 really good seasons and then got a game changing injury. Which is akin to the average RBs career.

Interesting names thrown out there...

I tend to agree that the idea of having the proper build helps a lot. The taller, faster, slender guys probably can't take the punishment of carrying the ball so often and surely they aren't going to be looking to run people over so it's very different based on physique.

Cam might be too tall and struggle to get his pad level down low enough to do it how Tim does.

The only other suggestion that I think is reasonable is Josh Cribbs based on his running style, special teams tackling toughness, and QB experience.

I also wonder if a younger Anquan Boldin could do it, supposedly he's got some QB skills they say.

Funny thing is we talk about a QB not being able to run and hit, but linebackers do it game in game out.

Figure, the guy needs to be built like a linebacker....

Revis looked weak on that play. Woodson makes that tackle 100 times out of 100.
