Otis diet fad of the month thread - Potato mania!!1 (1 Viewer)

do the 100 push ups challenge.
I've been at this "six week program" for like 4 months and I'm still not even close. I think I'm just really crappy at pushups.
That's probably true. How's your form?
I think it's OK, but I do catch myself sometimes holding my breath. I have no idea why I do that.
I have visions of an actual fat guy in a little coat trying to do 100 pushups, and it's not pretty.

Heard David spade talking about that scene recently. I guess Farley used to do that stuff to him all the time when they were supposed to be working on Saturday night live. David spade would be working on something intently, nose deep in his laptop and Farley would be like say spade, spade I have an idea. And he wouldn't even look up, just said it's not fat guy in a little coat again is it. And Farley would be all, no, no I really have am idea this time. And he'd torn around and there's Farley wearing spade's coat again, swaying side to side telling him to embrace it. That whole scene in the movie was like a day in real life of hanging out with Farley.

I do not mean to derail this thread but I still miss Farley. I love stupid physical comedy. Farley was fantastic.

On the workout front, what do you guys with babies do?

I stopped going to crossfit because I'm not able to go enough now to justify the costs. With it being winter there's not enough daylight to do outdoor activities after work. Been trying to workout at home with P90x but I can't get the kid to nap for longer than thirty minutes and both my wife and I work so I feel badly blocking off an hour to workout when that means she has to both watch the baby and do housework. My best bet is like 9:00 PM but I'm usually exhausted at that point and full from dinner.
You're pretty much ####ed until the baby is 2 or older.

My son is 18 months now. I now get up at 5am twice a week and go to a 24hr gym I joined before work. There's no time after work really.

:lmao:

@ how many of you guys still think going to the gym is some kind of panacea for weight loss. Like 2016 is the first time you have tried that and failed. But...but...but this time I'll be really disciplined and not eat as much and workout every day at 4 am and I'll maintain that lifestyle forever and ever and ever.

It's the very definition of crazy. But heaven forbid you try something different, and by "different" I don't mean a new gym or workout routine.

Seriously :lmao:

Saw a great documentary on him on Spike TV last night. Forget what it's called. (I am Farley? Something like that). It was really good. All these great comedians talking about how he came up and how mega talented he was. Guy seemed like so much fun.

That's a bit harsh. I find I drop weight very quickly when I work out hard and cut back my calories. Not sure why you are so opposed to the gym.

Nothing.

Was healthy the last two days. Just a glass of wine each night and has a little. Popcorn. Somehow 217.4 this morning. :kicksrock:

I had some salted meat for lunch and thinking the Paleo friendly dinner my wife made had too much salt. But dammit.

Would starting to workout more car temporary weight gain? Did the leg workout yesterday and can still feel the lactic acid.

You're more concerned with the number the scale says than you should be.
The number should be my concern. I'm trying to win a bet.
If you're more concerned about the bet than being healthy then stop lifting. Muscle weighs more than fat. I'd think you'd be more concerned with being healthy though. In which case lifting is great, but the number on the scale may not always be what you want it to be, especially if you're not eating great. Your body fat % should be decreasing though. In the end, as long as you see positive trends with at least one of those numbers then you're doing something right. The scale isn't the be-all, end-all though.

This bet will have lasted 7 months soon. To lose 15 lousy pounds. It seems clear that Otis has no motivation to lose anything and that Woz has settled into his new normal weight of just south of 220. That's where these guys are comfortable, that's fine.

Hard to believe that a food as mediocre (and that's being generous) as popcorn is causing woz to fall off the wagon. It's basically cardboard with butter and salt.

I just love the shock and awe of our heroes when they don't lose 2 lbs per day when they were eating like a normal person.

Oh I agree with all of this.

But, at this point, I just need to end this thing.

Has it been seven months???

This is pretty sad.

It's true, a pound of muscle does weigh more than a pound of fat.

Sometimes it's almost a pleasure to lift and sometimes there are days like today where I'd rather do anything else. Gotta push through on these days.

This really is unbelievable.

Not for nothing, but I went on an 8 week plant based diet starting January 4th. No booze, no flour or grains, just fruits and vegetables. 16 days in I'm down 15 lbs. And I hate that I continually click into this thread to read the "updates". It's a friggin' car wreck that I can't turn away from.

Starting January 1st, I just cut back on calories and did a little more exercise. Have had pizza, buffalo wings, chicken cordon bleu, egg sandwiches, beer and wine and almost never felt hungry. Also down 15 lbs.

Definitely! I wish you nothing but the best Woz. This should motivate you more. There is nothing greater than watching my kids turn down soda and drinking water instead, or them watching me do situps and want to join in. Be his inspiration (when he's a little older of course).

It's National cheese day. Oats is probably eating a block of cheddar the size of a car battery at his desk
Who decides these days? Ridiculous and can we get a National Quinoa Day, or how about National Vegetable Day? Edited to add there is an eat your vegetable day. June 17, 2016. My guess is that this bet is still on at that point. JFC there actually was a petition for Quinoa day too. https://www.change.org/p/sen-cory-booker-declare-a-new-national-holiday-national-quinoa-day

Otis it sounds like you still have a shot at this if you really want it.
I imagine him reading this with a Wendy's double baconator in one hand, looking for a free place among the french fries and dipping sauces to put it down so he can take a nice long draw on an extra-thick milkshake.
Listen guy, at Wendy's its called a frosty.
