Otis fad diet thread — yoga, fasting, and kevzilla walking on🚶‍♂️ (6 Viewers)

Sorry to everyone for so many posts.

Shady - one thing I've thought of that has been very unusual while I've been losing.  Normally, I'm always hot, like I could where shorts most of the year.  Never more than a long-sleeve t-shirt at home.  Since I've change my diet I've been ####ing freezing ALL the time.  I have no idea what it means (if anything) but it's been noticeable (and annoying).  Maybe my body is working hard to keep me warm??
Freezing here too.

Reading these posts though, I don't know how I am down 24.4lbs, that's only .9lbs less that AAA.  Now I have much more to lose, but I've done it though eating healthy only.  I have not exercise one iota, not even walking.  Weekdays, I'm at work from 6:45-5:30 (Including commute) and then a quick dinner and running the kids to and from events sometimes til 9-9:30.  Get home and sit my *** on the couch until bed.  I definitely want to start up some exercising soon but it'll be tough to find the time.

I'll take everybody's word for what I'm doing each day as I'm not keeping track of anything - I really don't know how other than I'm not eating sugar, flour, bread, potatoes, anything processed, no calories from beverages (basically 98% water this year), very little fried foods. What I'm eating: fruit sparingly (blueberries, blackberries and the very rare banana), vegetables,  meat, salads, eggs.  I have not had one cheat meal since 1/1 - I made homemade guacamole and fried some chicken tenders with coconut oil (not that bad tasting).

The only thing that I'm doing that I would call unconventional is my wife has this home drink that I appease her by drinking occasionally- basically, apple cider vinegar and ginger - supposed to help digestion??

This will have to slow down - maybe this week, but my mindset is different now.  I want to be healthy, not just skinny.  I was to have energy.  I think I may break my no exercise rule and go lift some weights tonight.
Now you're speaking my language GB!

So explain this stuff GB Keerock - I'm too stupid to understand but maybe if you use small words
I'm not here to evangelize... but if the CICO theory were 100% accurate, either you'd have a monster metabolism (BMR > 5K), or you're lying :D

My point being... there's likely more at play than just a calorie calculation (deconstructing, maintaining or building).  I'll let @culdeus and @James Daulton weigh in (pun intended) with more details.

That's just it, unless AAA is somehow violating some natural law, there's obviously more at play here.  Water weight, salt intake, colon full of #### pre-contest, could be a number of things.  Or he's really really really really sick.  Anyway, I hope it's not the later cause if it is we'll just get more selfies as he gets even skinnier.

Those wouldn't explain sustained weight loss...

I'm feeling kind of pot committed now.

I want to see the slim AAAbatteries pics
First off, #### you and your easy access to weed.

Secondly, stop egging @AAABatteries on.  We've all seen enough of his pasty *** to last a while.  No offense AAA you're looking more fabulous by the day.  Hopefully we'll have you around for quite a while yet.

I'm not even showing you the good parts - you're getting to see what everyone at my pool sees all summer (the lucky bastages)

But you started at 300

Sure, try me.  I'm genuinely curious because I don't have any explanation other than just eating well and not cheating.
I mean I can maybe get into more detail tomorrow, but you have to realize you are eating for all intents no carbs to speak of, probably <50g and certainly under <100g.  Unless I'm not understanding some diet components you use.

Agreed.  I think his loss is WAY more impressive.

@Sand 213 - just had my wedding planning tasting today, ooohh boy was it good.  Advocate 24 day cleanse starts tomorrow to hopefully reset me.  Hope to be around 200 by the end of it.  Also starting Pilates tomorrow since one opened in my apartment building complex and the fiancé asked me to sign up with her.  Ill add it to my biking/running if I like it.

Great work to the guys I have seen here that made huge strides already.  I hope to join the ranks soon.

What is BMR?  I doubt I'm out of the ordinary.  I will say I've always lost AND put on weight easily.  I would be like BnB and put on 5-7 lbs if I had a cheat day/weekend right now I'm guessing.  I have no clue how it's working and no, I didn't think you were saying I'm lying - no real point to lie and that's why I was one who wanted it to be charity.  Maybe the good karma from that is helping :)

Heres my typical day the last 5-6 weeks.

Breakfast - black coffee, eggs, bacon (1-2 times a week no breakfast)

Lunch - chicken and broccoli or a salad with grilled chicken and veggies (NEVER skip lunch)

Dinner - some meat and veggies, soup sometimes

No snacks, no alcohol, lots of water, lots of walking
Following your posts I get the sense that your stress levels are well managed and you're well rested. You may not be exercising, but combine those things with an improved diet (not raw calories, but the actual foods you're eating) and you have a recipe for a more efficient metabolic rate. It isn't a catch all, but it's certainly something to consider.

careful with that bmi stuff.  it's a broad scale and doesn't account for various body types.  according to the  bmi scale, a 5'10" guy that is muscular and weighs 200# is overweight and is on the edge of obese   the optimal weight for a 6' guy is 140-180.  6', 140#?  that's nuts!
Yeah, bmi is basically meaningless for the non obese. Body fat % is a much better story teller.

What about over lunch?

OK but I'm talking about bmr

So you are guys are saying in order to gain one pound, you have to eat 3,000 calories?
You have to eat 3500 calories over your bmr. Bmr is the number of calories your body burns just performing is normal functions as if you were laying in bed all day.

Not entirely sure what your point is. It's impossible to exactly quantify your bmr but I'm pretty sure 3800 that I calculated for AAA is probably not possible.
Just this.   No argument with AAA kicking an unbelievable amount of ***. But everyone's body is different and personally I think most of the bmi stuff makes people think they are fatter and more unhealthy than they actually are.

Actually, 3500 calories over your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE), which is BMR+calories burned from activity.

Once you figure out your TDEE gaining/losing weight is simple.

Good point.  Another reason I'm focusing on this is the doc sent me to have a sleep study and said I had very mild sleep apnea- also, like most overweight guys my wife said my snoring was horrible.  I wanted to sleep more and better.  About two weeks ago she told me my snoring was virtually gone.  I've been sleeping more than I can remember and wake up most mornings with no alarm and feeling pretty good.  In the stress side I've got four kids and a mildly stressful job but I feel like I mange it pretty well.

Doctor, huh?
