Otis fad diet thread — yoga, fasting, and kevzilla walking on🚶‍♂️ (2 Viewers)

I'm really getting sick of eating the same stuff all the time. This is pretty fantastic. You can leave out the butter and sausage if you must.

Shrimp & "Grits" w/ Red-eye Gravy

  • 1 head of cauliflower
  • 1 TBL Butter
  • 2 TBL Milk
  • 1/4 C parmasean
  • 1lb Shrimp
  • Blackening seasoning
  • 1 TBL Olive oil
  • 1/4lb Andouille sausage
  • 1/2 onion diced
  • 1 TBL Worcestershire
  • 1 tsp hot sauce
  • 2 cups black coffee
  • 2 cups chicken broth
Cook/steam cauliflower in 1" of water for 15 minutes and drain. Puree with immersion blender. Add butter, milk and parm and stir to make "grits". Toss shrimp in seasoning and blacken in a hot pan with oil. Saute onions and sausage until onions are soft. Add liquids and stir for "red eye gravy". Spoon a mound of cauliflower "grits" into bowl. Top with 5-6 blackened shrimp. Pour a few cups of gravy over the top.

I do a lot of mashed and riced cauliflower dishes.  Never tried cauliflower grits though, gonna give this a go.

Thanks

Someone must hate me.  About 50 bags of Doritos on the break room table.

I've been remodeling a house for the last couple of days.  Gone to nothing but coffee and one big evening meal.  No workouts over that time.

Ok guys. Most likely this will be my last weigh in. I am going away this week, and if im being honest, I dont care about what I eat. If I gain 5 el bees, so be it.

I want to thank everyone for being great motivation. Obviously it is my hope that I continue to lose when I get back and keep it off this time. I am my worst enemy in that regard. I think I did solid for someone under 200. Never was going to be able to compete with some of the bigger guys but that is cool.

Ill gladly pony up my money to whatever charity is decided on. Actually makes me feel good about what we did here together ibuds.

Terrible week this week.  Was good during the week but then went camping with my 2 boys for the weekend.

Fried chicken breast, fried jalapeno poppers, fried cheese on Friday (I had limited amount and some fruit I brought)

Sat - Breakfast burritos, with eggs, cheese, sausage, bacon and peppers/onions.  Lunch Ham sandwich on white bread (They had grilled ham and cheese) and cup noodle/tomato soup.  Dinner Hamburgers and fries.  Ate mine without the buns with ketchup/mustard and hot sauce over fries.  Lemon cake in a dutch oven for dessert.

Sun - Breakfast of a muffin and 2 bananas

Home on Sunday, lunch had a salad with chicken breast and then to my MIL's for corned beef and cabbage, potatoes, carrots, etc. for dinner.

Monday - Wife's birthday, went to lunch, for Italian, had a salad and then shells with sauce and meatballs.  Ice cream cake for dessert at night, no dinner.

Weighed in this morning at 268, up 3.8 pounds.  I guess it could have been worse.  Back on track today.  If I can get that 3.8 back by next week that would be great, if not, maybe 2 weeks.  Slow and steady from here on out.

Nice work again by some of you guys.

Heck man, losing 32 lbs is awesome! Great job! Just dust yourself off and get ready for the next 32.

I was at a conference for the last two days with free breakfast and free wine and beer afterwards. Today's afternoon break? German-style pretzels with melted cheese and mustard. I left, went to my hotel, waited for the lounge to open and pounded a spinach salad. Shoot me.

Tried the lemon cake and cookie dough halo top yesterday.  It was ok.  Not mind blowing.

I also noticed that Quest has a zero carb pasta.

So today - hard ride in 85(!!) degree weather.  Average HR = 162 for the hard 80 minutes of it.  Social afterward at a pizza joint.  Had a water, came home, ate one piece of chicken.

:coffee:

Should be negative net calories on the day.

Ok so I've been much hungrier lately. Coincides with the extreme workouts I've been doing this past week.
Go low carb-high fat. You will lose weight and not be hungry. It's almost a struggle for me to get hungry now. It's freaking me out.

Just sounds like some proclamation that he would make.   The diet to end all diets.
Well, I've been doing it for a few weeks and feel great and weight keeps coming off. It really is pretty crazy. I honestly don't have that much to lose and a couple people have told me I look "too skinny." But I am committing to this for six weeks to see how it goes.

I really do feel better, have more energy, have stopped snoring, and my #### grew three inches in length and I added an inch of girth.

Youre making this sound pretty awesome. Tempted to give it a go...

This is the main reason I havent tried this method, not sure I could do that to my fiancé.

How low carb do you go?  I mean, I don't eat bread, potatoes, or starch, but I will grab the occasional cookie or something.  I think when it's all said and done, CICO is just a good fit with low carb because carbs just tend to make you more hungry sooner.  More hunger, more calories.

If I eat a bowl of cereal for breakfast, I am hungry again sooner than if I just skipped it.  So I tend to think it's more of a function of blood sugar and hunger than ketosis.  Low carb high fat is great for satiety, so I'd venture you are eating fewer overall calories.  You say so yourself, that you have to kind of struggle to eat once in a while.  This is never a problem when you are scarfing down cereal for breakfast, bread for lunch, snacks.

Right now I'm eating close to zero carbs because I just want to make sure I don't screw up. I totally plan to add carbs in, but I think I'll stay away from grains.

I do think I'm eating less calories this way. I have no idea if it's ketosis or what, but I am not very hungry and I know I'm not eating all that much. I think the fat is keep me full.

I haven't done it yet.  I suck.  I'm turning into an older, poorer Otis.  Albeit one with better hair.
It doesn't read like it'll be sustainable even if you do try it, so why bother?

I stopped following this thread for a few weeks, real life took up the non-exercise free time, where are you stuck anyway?

Why isn't it sustainable? It's basically - no grains and little sugar. Pretty simple.

It's not as if very low carb diets are some new revelation.  They've been popular for 20 to 25 years now.  Which means they've been studied like lots of other diets.  They don't tend to be any more or less sustainable than any other plan (which is not very sustainable as most people fall off the wagon).

It doesn't seem like it's sustainable for him because he doesn't serm to want to do it.

I want to do it.  Badly.  "Otis, eat all the steak and bacon and eggs and cheese and vegetables and sausage you want."

Oh alright.
