Otis fad diet thread — yoga, fasting, and kevzilla walking on🚶‍♂️ (1 Viewer)

Yeah, in an airport scenario, if you can find protein and veggies, without rice or pasta, you're golden. I'd probably try to get extra sauce.

Still doing my time on the treadmill. Vegas in seven weeks, I'll want to get back out on the street in three.

Down another 3 pounds from the last time I checked. At 194.5.  Since checking into the hospital I’m down 42 pounds I think.

The only problem is that I’m feeling pretty weak. Im still trying to get out on the bike, but just feel fatigued a lot sooner than usual. Also am trying 50 push-ups and sit-ups per day and am struggling with it more than usual despite not having as much weight that I need to lift.

Got good news today.  I don’t need surgery on my nose and I can return to working out.  Sleeping has been tough due to the swelling but that should be improved within two weeks.  I worked out briefly tonight and need to get back on track with my eating.

Lets all get back on track or stay on track.

Good day. No booze. 2 walks with the dog and a good Peleton workout. Then 90 minute massage. Eggbeaters, lettuce wrapped chicken, grilled chicken, veggies and salad. Feel good. Hope scale reflects it tomorrow

I've worked half days Tues -Fri this week. Proud of myself for not deviating from normal habits during all those errands.

Until last night, when the (possibly) satanic Girl Scouts materialized as I stumbled out of Wal-Mart, hypoglycemic and shaky. If they wondered why the big dude was dripping sweat on a blustery day, they didn't show it. I figured I could eat some in the car if I had to, but decided I was OK to drive, as long as the windows were down.  :oldunsure:

So they're gone, and I'm probably still going to show a loss on the scale if I'm not insane tonight.

Holy ####.  Today's Adriene, "Strong," was the most difficult short (22 minute) Adriene session I've ever done.  Somehow I managed to do it all, but my form by the end was significantly less than perfect.  Fast and relentless.  Poke, you might even like this one, though I think it might still be too easy for you.

Yesterday's had some "horizon pose," which was briefly repeated today.  I don't recall doing this one before.  Seemed harder than it looks.

ChatterIndex:  I was breathing so heavily that I might have missed some, but  annoying chatter during the last few minutes puts it at a 4.

Ate decent until dinner but then went out for Sushi with my wife for dinner because both kids are away at camp. I didn’t drink though so my calories for the day were only about 2,000. Slightly over my 1,800 goal, but 60 minutes on the Peloton should be enough to cover that.

I think of sushi as being one of my go-to low-cal meals, but come to think of it I focus on sashimi rather than the big rolls.  I guess all the stuff in the rolls could trip you up.  Sounds delicious, though.  Now I want sushi.

geezus ...that's about a 4 day deal extravaganza for me ...

It’s pretty easy to make if you’re so inclined. One of my favorite meals to make prior to being on this restricted diet was poke bowls. Make some sushi rice, top it with a bunch of vegetables and protein. I usually use avocado, cucumber, carrots, and seaweed salad, but have also done mushrooms, radishes, spinach, and sweet potatoes. For proteins I’ve done shrimp, tuna, eel, crab or eggs.

Did 30 minutes on the treadmill, no issues. Will continue on Monday, barring a setback.

The scales says I lost 2.0 pounds the last two weeks. Better than gaining, I suppose, but I lost eleven pounds in last February's icepocalypse and I've been re-losing them ever since. Time to move forward.

Finally did day 6 of Move and either this was the hardest of her day 6 core sessions or I've just gotten really out of shape. My hips felt it as much as my core which is also an issue when I'm running so I think I'm starting up the myrtl routine to help https://youtu.be/Mj8uZ1Qtx3M

For now I'm locked in with the blizzard and I was able to fix my snowblower when i discovered it wouldn't start and we have 18 to 28 inches expected so hopefully it stays started and i can stay ahead of this

Try sea asparagus or sea beans. Delicious.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen them for sale
They’re a specialty item. Check in Irvine. You’re in SoCal, right?  There’s a huge Asian market there. The name skips my mind atm.

eta:  I was exposed to them in HI. They put them in a lot of poke type cold salads

I’m in the Bay Area. I shop at the Asian markets a fair amount, which is where I would think would be the most likely place to find them, but I can’t recall ever seeing them. Will keep my eyes out for them.

Yesterday I was busy and had a headache most of the day and never got on the mat. Did walk the dog. Food was fine until we had pizza for dinner.

Did a one hour yin session this morning.  Will walk the dog shortly. Date night tonight, so will try to make smart choices but it won't be easy.

Keep up the good work!

The fish is healthy, but it is mostly the rice (I have been avoiding carbs) and the fact that I over ate.

Cranked out 2026 active carbs, skiing today. Suck it Covid. Also had my first 2 beers in 3 weeks. A glorious day.

I burned 1,800 active calories on the mountain bike today. Don’t think I can even consume that many calories on this diet if I tried

Love me some poke bowls. We just get it with salad and no rice. Tons of flavor and can stay on the program. Just get it at Poke Land.  Tuna, spicy tuna, salmon. Ginger. Wasabi. So good

Since the kids are gone for the weekend we had a fun day walking around Asheville and the best tacos I have ever had for lunch (no beer though). When we got home I spent 60 minutes on the Peloton and only had soup for dinner. Overall I think I managed to stay below 1,800 calories (I estimated the tacos at 300 each). Even if I went over it was worth it.

all good ...just deal me out on the cucumber

So I made @Judge Smails chili recipe today for the game, but being on my restricted diet and on doctors orders not to eat meat, I made some modifications.

Instead of doing 5 pounds of chuck roast, I did about 3.5lbs of assorted mushrooms (2lb king oyster, 1lb portobello, 0.5lb crimini) and cubed them into similar sizing to what I would have done the beef, and I added about an extra 1.5lbs of beans. Since I can’t do wheat or corn I subbed the beer for beef broth, and subbed the jack daniels for a little anejo tequila.

The seasoning is still fantastic, and it came out tasting virtually identical. Texturally it’s a bit different, but the mushrooms at least have a nice bite to them.

Just you wait until Day 27.  :scared:

Day 29 today, "Trust" was just a'ight.  Some good long warriors and high lunges in the middle, sandwiched between stuff that was a bit too gentle and slow and rambly for me.

Awesome!

Weight is down 1.5 this week.  I would normally be very happy with that, but on Thursday I was 1.5lb lower.  I guess that is why they say only weigh-in once / week.

I have lost enough now to confess that my starting weight was 265 which is the heaviest I have ever been.  I am down to 248 now and hoping for 245 by my birthday (Feb 4).

Well it was another weekend.  Wasn't too bad at any one meal, so I will take it.

Did a 40-min 'cardio flow' yoga session on my down dog app yesterday.  It was fine.  Probably at least a dozen chaturanga pushups.  My balance was better on warrior 3 and half moon.  Also walked the dog as the weather was really nice here.

Just did a 40-min yin session, really needed it as the cardio flow yesterday didn't have much cooldown stretching.  Will also walk the dog later today.

Keep up the good work!

Officially down 18lbs (16lbs of fat according to my scale) in January.  Powered through a week of travel unscathed.  Hoping I can get another 10 off in February.

Down 15 pounds in January, to 237. I did great for the first 3 weeks, then had a backslide until today. Surprisingly I did not gain any weight during that one week. Goal is to lose 8 pounds in February.

The thing that really helped was not drinking at home. Was 100% successful in January and I am going to roll it into February.

I forgot that Day 30 of every Adriene program is freestyle, mic off.  While I love the fact it means there's no chatter, I'm just not that good at improvising yoga and prefer to have someone guiding me through some moves.  So, I made a big decision today...for the first day in nearly three months, I'm not going to do yoga.

I feel like this streak I've had of yoga every day is bringing me down, rather than inspiring me.  It's started to feel like it might never end, because with each day that passes I put more pressure on myself not to break the streak.  After that feeling has built for three months, I need to let it go.

Back at it tomorrow, though!

I’ve had trouble with the 30 days because it’s just hard to do something like that every day without fail. I would miss one or two, try to make them up and just fall further behind.

I put in 26.5 miles on the bike today going to and from my doctor appointment. Wife took my car keys with her to work, and while I was planning on biking to the doctor she left me no other choice.

2300 active calories skiing. Few beers with sushi. Life is good!

made the leader board at deer valley today for vertical feet.  #16.  This has inspired me to see what I can do over the next week. 🤣

So you needed a release?  Hmm...

Ate well yesterday and walked the dog 1.5 miles.

Did a 40-min full practice down dog yoga session this morning.  Fell out of crow and hurt my wrist mildly.  This session was full of pushups, planks, standing balance poses, etc.  Finished with boats at the end just to really kick my butt.

Keep up the good work!

Making it through half an hour without foot problems so far, but my blood sugar plummeted while I was in the shower. That was new, and not recommended. Managed to towel off and get out of the shower without injury, which was the real challenge. I have a single bottle of regular Coke for rescue purposes.

It's spooky, but it only happens once a month or so. I probably have more time than I think, but it's quite unpleasant. And because I live alone, I can't be late even once.

I am traveling for work this week and someone recommended using the website Pelotonbuddy to find a hotel in the area with a Peloton to ride. I then called the hotel to confirm that they had one and that it was working. I checked in and and went to the gym and guess what “out of order”. So frustrating. I ended up using the treadmill to walk/run for 45 minutes so probably the same results, but I was not happy.

Busy morning, quick update.

Ate relatively well yesterday, but wine was had.

Did a 40-min yin session this morning.  May get on the treadmill later (it's damn cold here).

Keep up the good work!
