My interns received a flash PM last night suggesting that link through that Youtube portal could get you some info on our real world operations here at Camp Otis. With all these internet maniacs calling the Feds and making gangsta rap Youtube vids, one can't be too careful nowadays.
This is the same BS line that Mr Ham tried with the rap videos
Did he calli the Feds on himself? If you missed the video and you're upset about that, here's a recap: chubby goofy guy from the city cuts down a christmas tree while his wife videos and his brother in law holds the tree up with a piece of extension cord (which he had cut through accidentally with the hedge trimmer earlier in the day), and while his cousin stands nervously at the bottom of the hill between the tree and his new shiny Mustang. Tree falls. Doesn't make much sound. Car is fine, nobody is injured.
wait what?
Brother in law, while trimming the hedges with the electric hedge trimmer, cut through his 16 gauge extension cord. I had only purchased two, so this put our parallel track on hold for a while until someone could run out and get a new one.
When he cuts thru the extension cord thats powering his trimmers does the cord electrocute the trimmers?
Apparently not.

I've done this before. Twice. :bag:
I did it when I was about 14 with my dad's electric mower. Dad just spliced it together with electrical tape and made me finish the lawn.

You people are all clowns. Along with Otis. His questions are beyond ridiculous.
I stand by this post. 21 pages because the city slicker bought a house? If he puts a TV in his bathroom, I suspect most of you losers bust a nut.. Weird.
Otis is interesting and funny. You're not.
WAANK, WAANK WAANK, WAANK WAANK, WAANK.. Shutup!
I know you're a bit of a dim bulb, so I'll help you here. The thing that makes this thread interesting is that Otis has come out and admitted this is a new frontier for him and that he doesn't always know what he's doing. If he came out and said he's Bob Vila Jr, this thread would be 2.5 pages and be filled with nothing but carpenter nerds. I'm not always a fan of Oat. I think his opinions on pets and college sports are idiotic at best. But he's hitting a home run with this thread. Easily the best of the year. The reality is you couldn't come up with something this interesting if you were being paid to do it.

Oh I'm not above doing dumb #### by accident but this is one I never thought was possible..

Splicing wires is going to be covered in the Do-It-Your-Self Advanced Classes. Based on the comments earlier regarding the light switches and wall plate, I don't think we want Otis tackling this project this early in his suburban tenure.Give it time.

I think ALL of my extension cords have at least one if not two areas wrapped with electrical tape from these sorts of mishaps.

Yeah, one can never be too careful, especially after posting a video using one's real name. :porked:

Some schlub came by and gave us our first estimate on a landscaping service.

450 bucks to haul away all the trees and shrubs we pulled out and which are piled all over our friend lawn like an embarrassing eyesore

2000 for the "initial" landcaping job, since the place has been so neglected

90 bucks a week for regular maintanance

The regular weekly rate seems almost reasonable (though he clearly wrote over a 7 in 70 to make it 90, probably after seeing my young wife answer the door and finding out we moved here from Brooklyn.

2 grand? Is this guy out of his nuts? Or 450 bucks for 30 minutes of labor? Are you insane?

Can I just find illegals in the home depot parking lot?

Time to Buy a Wood Chipper and an electric lawn mower. That does sound a bit high.... You can rent a dumpster for $350.

2 grand for the initial scaping seems a tad steep to me at first glance, but i guess it depends on what he is doing and how long its going to take.

$90 a week seems absurd to me. But again, it depends what you're doing. If all he's doing is mowing, weed pulling and trimming, i think that's disgusting.

Yeah you could probably hire some day-laborers to do the clean-up for a 12 pack of Tecate.

:lmao:
:goodposting: also, where do you think they bring the trees?
The tree junkyard? Dump them in a forest?

Hell do I know. Far as I understand it, I used to dump my trash down a chute or leave it down in the basement with the porters. They made it all just disappear.

One of the few cool things about an old house -- here is the light fixture in the front hallway when you first enter the house. It's original, nearly 100 years old.

Some of the doorknobs are original too. Just some cool old touches if you can get past the creaky crooked floors and cat doors.

:subscribe: to big0atsI love the sick ownage. Look at all those two foot tree trunks in your yard.
You're the one who was all  for the poor dead tree souls. And everyone else was all ZOMG YOULL KNOCK UR HOUZE DOWN!I chopped up the biggest one and saved it for firewood in this giant iron ring thingy in the yard that someone said is for holding firewood. :bowtie:

I love that you're sticking to your guns on this after you've already started questioning the Christmas Tree massacre of '11. I was a little worried that you'd learn from your mistakes and this thread would become less fun.

I'm gonna need a link to the mistake. The house looks about a brzillion times better than it did last week. Sometimes man wins in man vs. nature, hippie.

Are you talking about a campfire pit? That's for burning the wood, not storing it.

Split & stack that stuff where it can dry a bit.

 :lmao: @ Bragging about all the trees you cut down and the fence you ripped out.

You did exactly what you said you did, but that's less than half the work. It's like saying that your going to remodel your living room. Breaking down a wall, and leaving the debris where it lay. Then posting a youtube video about how well the remodel went. How many people "helped" you with this mess?

:lmao: Rookie
