Out of the Park baseball sim league starting (2 Viewers)

Not that I owe you an explanation, but I had other things going on in my life during the few weeks between July 31 and the offseason. Sorry I didn't dedicate enough time to commenting on the team that I couldn't control. Next time I'll check with you to make sure it is okay to not visit the site for a couple of days. Also, I'll continue to check with you to make sure I am active enough for your liking. I wouldn't want to be up for "firing" again.
looks like you're a pro at making grand assumptions as well. like i said - i couldn't care less if you're not active, it's really not a problem - we'll find someone else who can be. but when you ask what the problem is - it was pretty obvious.

strange you're taking such an exception to this when it's really not that big of a deal. but oh well, that time is long gone - why are you focusing so heavily on it now? hopefully you'll stay as active as you are now and that would be great for the entire league.

BTW, I'm in the process of extracting the new file now. I'll be with you RE: Piazza in a few mins.
not sure if you're at work, but if you are, and you can extract a file there, i'm extremely jealous of you. if i could do that, that would make the league even more enjoyable for me and a whole lot more convenient.

Not at work right now. But my computer sure is extracting this thing slowly. I'll get there GWB, I promise.

so, anyone interested in Rodriquez??? 4.5 star catcher...
For what?
not sure...I definately want to get younger, and Rodriquez is not young, and his $10 million price tag is kinda steep (although he is good enough that I'm ok with keeping it)... I'm just not sure I can turn the team around fast enough for him to do that much good for me...

what would you give me? (what team are you? lol)
Do you need any OF or 1B help?
I pretty much need help everywhere except 3B lolIt would, however, be nice to get a decent C in return for him, too... doesn't have to be great, but a couple stars or a decent prospect would be kinda nice...
How about: Carl Everett - OF (.304 24 101, 33 yr old, switch hitter, $3.5 million through 2005) &

Brian Schneider - C (28 yr old, 2.5 star, Left Handed, B Range, A Arm, $1.195 million - arbitration for 2 more years)

for Pudge Rodriquez - C ($30 million over next 3 years)

It'll save you about $23 million, Schneider's defense is just as good as Pudge's, being a lefty he could be platooned with a cheap RH catcher, and Everett's offense is just as good as Pudge's.

I want to get young guys like Rivera, Wilkerson, and Pascucci to start in the OF, and utilize Sledge and Chavez as reserves. As such Everett is expendable despite being my best hitter in '04. And I can easily afford Pudge's contract.
I need more than that from you, I'm giving up a 4.5 star player, and I'm getting a throwaway 2 star OF and a 2.5 star C back?? I have OF as good as Everett, I need an upgrade somewhere...that being said, how about we do this:

Pudge Rodriquez, Carlos Guillen, & Bobby Higgenson, & Dmitri Young

for

Brian Schneider, Orlando Cabrera, & (Wilkerson, Rivera, or Vaspucci), Carl Everett & Dustin McGowen

what do you think???
You are officially a nut job!!!You want my two best offensive players (Everett and Cabrera), another young OF with upside potential, my #1 minor league prospect, and a 2.5 star catcher who bats left handed with gold glove caliber defense...

for

An over priced catcher and a collection of has beens and never will be's.

Thanks for wasting my time.

So you're saying I'm not active?

PS- I had 8 posts between the acquisiton of a team I couldn't control and the off-season. What more did you want? Commentary on teams that I didn't care about?
i really don't care what you post about, but to clarify, i'm saying you weren't active. there's lots to contribute besides the welfare of your own team. you are active now though - hopefully you'll remain so.
With all due respect, I think I understand what it takes to be active in an OOTP league. I ran two of them, and have played dozens of them since the days of OOTP2. It is silly to bring on a GM, give him a team he can't access or change, and then try to get rid of him prior to the offseason activities. You were the only person that even tried to contact me. The commish didn't even PM me before he was going to cut bait. Real classy move there.
When I signed up before they even started the commish said it would be a week before they start. I came back six days later and was already kicked out for "non-participation". I had to beg to be let back in. I agree it's not classy, but they're also doing a lot of work for free so I didn't complain.

truthfully? I have very little idea of what I'm doing lol...give me a counter offer...

I definately need more than you offered to me the first time, but it doesn't surprise me that what I asked for is too much (I was trying a little to ask for a smidge too much because I'm not sure what "enough" is)...

Hell, I don't have a third outfielder right now, and I might not win "Fancy" Garret Anderson because I'm a "small market team." I might be interested in Everett. What would you want from my team?

Pirates
It looks like you have a lot of young catcher and infield prospects, and with Kendall, Wilson, and Mackowiak in your lineup those prospects may have no where to go. How about:Freddy Cortada © & Bobby Hill (2B) for Carl Everett (OF).

This is very possible. I'll get back to for sure very soon.

Ok, I've looked closer at this and I accept. Everett will really help out a weak outfield and weak lineup, and you're right that I have prospect depth at C and 2b. If you're still in, make a post on the website and I'll confirm.

Good doin' business with ya.

Kendall's a schmuck, especially at that salary, I'm not saying my two guys are any better because mine are schmucks too, but yowza.

LB what are you looking for to acquire Pudge?
honestly, not completely sure...I'd like to acquire, at worst, a stop-gap catcher for a year or two to replace him (that is lesser, obviously) and an upgrade at AT LEAST 2 other positions from what I have currently...

I could use some pitching, starters specifically (I've signed some FA relievers that should be good)...

look at it this way, I'm paying Pudge less than Kendall's getting lol

Why would a team taking on a $30 million burden be willing to exchange that much for him? He's not God. He's an over priced catcher. A good one, but overpriced for what he's produced on the field recently. It's no different than situation the Reds found themselves in with Griffey. They either eat his salary, or trade him away for a song, because no GM is going to inherit his salary AND give up talent to obtain it.

:goodposting: Me and LB tried to work out a deal involving Wade Miller and Pudge, but at the end of the day I just couldn't justify taking on the salary and dealing away an upper level pitcher. There were some other components of the deal we were working on, but I agree with your post regarding salary inheritance + giving up talent.

Pudge isn't overpriced, though...Look what Veritek got, Pudge is getting paid $2 less/year, is one year older, and has less years left on the contract... Pudge is barely overpriced...

I agree, I asked for too much, I was trying to ask for a little too much...

HOWEVER, Pudge is a value, is he highly paid? Yes, but he isn't so highly paid that its outrageous or you aren't paying market value. Look at Veritek, you are paying BELOW market value for Pudge...

yes, Higginson is worth very little and Young is a bit overpriced, too, but neither are completely horrible and both contracts end soon (and they players aren't useless)...

give me a counter offer, though, like I said, I'm not completely sure what I'm doing...

$12 million for Veritek is ridiculous as well. He was asking for $5.18 million for 3 years. Just because some GM is willing to pay him $12 million doesn't mean he's worth it. Pudge is overpaid, but he's still a catcher that produces. You just have to consider that his salary reduces what he's worth to other GMs. Think about it. If he had only a $3 million salary he'd be worth a lot more to other GMs who would give you more talent in return, yes? The reverse is true: the bigger his salary, the less talent GMs are willing to give for him.

I've already gave you an offer, and your counter offer was an insult. I'll listen to offers from you, but I'm not going to invest time trying to put an offer together for you given how unreasonable your counter offer was.

Overpaid for three pitchers (Millwood, Radke, and Wagner) but I pretty much had no choice. I had one viable starting pitcher at the MLB level (Seo) and he's a 4th starter type at best.

After the Piazza trade, I'm only at $80M or so for payroll so no big problems there for now.

Still looking for another solid bat - preferably at CF or C but 1B is a possibility as well since I can move Floyd back to the OF - and maybe another starting pitcher.

hey, guys, I'm willing to take on some higher priced contract, FYI...

I'm not talking $15,000,000 for players that are useless, but I'd take a guy for like $10,000,000 who was good/decent... basically I wouldn't mind dumping my useless salaries, but I am completely ok with taking on salaries that will help my team get better...

also, as far as trading Pudge goes, this is what I would prefer, I would like an upgrade at an offensive position (whether IF or OF) and a starting pitcher of some sort would be nice (even if he's only 2-2.5 stars or so)... also a replacement of some sort at C would be preferable...

let me know if you have any larger salaries you would like to get rid of, I wouldn't mind taking on one or two, and I'll even give decent talent in return...

Blue Jays are wanting to get in the trade talks.

I'm moving Bush into the rotation, so It'll look like this:

Halladay

Lilly

Bush

Batista

Glavine

I have some nice pitching prospects & would be willing to deal one, if we could include Glavine in the deal. I also have a couple nice SS prospects in Hill & Adams. I need another solid SP &/or a C.

I think you did pretty well. Lots of players involved in the deal, but looks like you got some good talent coming back to you for Pudge. I offered the Giants Kent, Pettite, and the possibility of swapping out prospects, but I guess it was too late because your trade had already been accepted. If you're interested in moving Burrell, I'd be willing to offer the same deal (Kent, Pettitte, prospect swap). PM me if interested.
